NZ and AUS governments are 100% seperate to the UK. We do not have to answer to them over policy changes, nor do we have to ask for their permission to change anything.

Both countries are 100% self governed.

This isn't so much a "poaching soldiers" case, as much as it is the Aus military trying to get a good "deal" by purchasing already trained soldiers.

Wrong, we do have to ask the Queen about government policy changes, HOWEVER, even if she disagrees with the policy changes she has no power to stop them from going ahead.

The price of steal is supply and demand. Its fair enough. We get what we can when we deal with them too.

China does not just need us for resources.

We are the end of the earth. If you have ever played Risk you will see that we are so important because of where we are located on the map. Us and New Zealand. If America did not have us as an ally, it would make taking on China so much harder.

China and Australia can dominate this part of the world together. We already do. A China/Australia alliance would have the Pacific sewn up. Japan, South Korea and the other US puppets would not stand a chance. And we could isolate them from America with ease.

China and the East is the future.

No, actually you do not.

What you have to do is advise the Queen on legislative changes or anything else that requires her signature such as Orders in Council - and she (or the GG in her absence) has to take the advice of her ministers.

So that is 2 things wrong:

1/ it is advice, not a request, and
2/ it is for legislation, not policy.

HOWEVER, even if she disagrees with the policy changes she has no power to stop them from going ahead.

tough - with CER and no immigration restrictions from NZ you do not get the choice - any kiwi can emigrate to Aus & work without restriction, including joining the military.

Check the complaints on China about the dumping of Steel on markets, including the US, undermining domestic markets. Since china controls the wages and labor laws, meaning cheap and non existent, they can afford to import massive amounts of resources, convert them, then resell them for a profit on foreign markets. Buying ore for 300 and selling steel for 850 still undercuts domestic markets because of the unfair playing field.

China, with its current policies, can easily corner most major markets, and if we look close we will see they already have. The Us is not the only "slave" to China, and think think we are the only ones is naive.

It's 20 years since Australian prime minister Bob Hawke led a global campaign to overthrow international plans to manage Antarctic mineral exploitation.

The Madrid protocol to the Antarctic Treaty is seen as a global benchmark for ecosystem management, imposing rules so strict that, for example, all huskies had to leave the continent.

The protocol is explicit about minerals. It forbids "any activity relating to mineral resources, other than scientific research". This ban can't be revisited until at least 2048 — or 50 years after the protocol came into force.

But the over-arching Antarctic Treaty is also a diplomatic two-step.

Australia claims 42 per cent of the continent, including a 5000-kilometre coastline and a vast offshore Exclusive Economic Zone. Yet under the treaty, all territorial claims are frozen.

Countries such as the former Soviet Union, and now China and India, have not sought permission from Canberra to build their bases in the Australian Antarctic Territory.

This makes the minerals ban a vital dampener on the enthusiasm of great powers, past and future.

Your understanding of current geopolitics is laughably simplistic and relies on an irrational hatred of "America", without really grasping the mechanisms at work.

Firstly, the notion that China would attack the US to get back money owed 'them' is horribly fraught with faulty logic. For China to ever see a return on their investment in American interests, the US needs to maintain a dominate position. In addition, the Chinese military compared tot he US isnot even a contest. China would never consider that type of phsyical war with the US, one of their largest trading partners.

Second, and more importantly. you fail to understand the US presence in the Pacific is to protect Western interests. Not just the US. MANY pacific nations want the US to maintain a strong counter-balance to China. The US is not there to defend themselves against a Chinese miltary threat. They are there to ensure their freinds and allies maintain a sense of autonomy from the growing chinese sphere, which would be a far more likely assualt in terms of physical armies.

Your notion that China would attack Australia because the Chinese own a lot of American bonds is truly absurd.

And, again, I will point out that China has NO interest in seeing the dollar collapse. Their own currency is inextricably tied to the Dollar. If it collapses, so does much of China. Your entire argument falls apart the second you apply any actual facts to it. Step away from the Alex Jones and read an economics text book.

The OP is overly concerned, and clearly demonstrates the fear-mongering which spreads when one dosen't know what they are talking about. The Australian Defence Force has been historically under-staffed, and has gone to quite extreme measures for a number of years to recruit more Australians domestically. However, given the numerous other employment oppurtunities (i.e. the mining sector) and the increased University participation rate they have struggled to find enough recruits.

If Australia was seriously preparing for some kind of WWIII, why would they have cut the Defence budget by $5 billion this year alone. Moreover, much of Australia's military operations, other than in Afghanistan, is concentrated in the arc of instability (those small and weak Pacific Island nations) and to aid and development and some degree of peacekeeping.

Many other militaries all over the world do this as well. In the US, one can receive US citizenship by joining the US military. Australia isn't the only developed nation to go to these extremes.

As much as we agree on the U.S. government creating conflicts around the world, and certainly inflaming tensions in the pacific.. without an active U.S. military China would most certainly be taking land it sees as rightfully theirs.. taiwan.. certain possibly oil rich waters near the Philippines..etc..
