It was they that used the thread about the marines, pretending their position was typical or popular when evidently, it never was. If you take the extreme 'whatever they are (Asian?)' from the general view there's nothing left. We all knew that it was a gesture and that things could heat up without a USA balance, but I haven't met a single person that shares his / their concerns, not one. Not even Chinese Australians.

I think China is a bit of a blow hard. I don't think America has been tarnished so bad because propaganda (and lies in general) don't last long. They are in it for a quick fix and they (not just China) can blow hard all day. The 1000's of ideas they set about making people believe.. all by themselves.. one by one.. vanishing...

Wish Americans weren't so Ameriancentric. Nothing is so black and white. A lot of things can happen despite who has the biggest ego's.

Nobody likes the current situation. We are good allies with the kiwis that's why we are ANZACs Australian New Zealand Army Core, NZ doesn't even have an Air force anymore cause it's not worth having one you have to get through the Aussies first & if that happens their up the creek anyway.
As for who would attack us for starters 350million Indonesians who are staring at 23million of us over a hungry dinner plate & can get here in a row boat, followed by china who will want to waste Pine Gap and our radar arrays to screw up you yanks not to mention Cocos Islands once you set up your drone base there, after that anybody who is hungry.
250K is like 5 years grunt pay I doubt they are handing this out to any old wanna be Rambo, I would think that level of compo would be for specialists with families.
As to why we need them there can't be to many options either war or to control us civvies. There is no way Ozzy soldiers would attack us so I suppose they need some of these guys and some US Marines for that job although I pity them if they are dumb enough to accept those orders, we might not be viewed as much by the world but we hold are own & then some, add to that they would be pissing in our pool = not good for them.

wwttff!! give me 250k to join the army, after i blow it i will set explosives in parliament and go surfin for the rest of the scum pollies in our country.

I would not count out the possibility that it's Australia they hate, not America and or, they covet Australia's resources on racial grounds. We get a lot of that. The same people think nothing of creating 100's of accounts and try to hold conversation with this wide range of people - all of them themselves, then there are bots... It's not that bad, I know.

I think the most plausible excuse is that they hate themselves and need to hide behind issues. If I'm right the anti-American accusations would fit their own personalities.

On thing is for sure. I can tell you with no doubt at all that I'm as serious as most Australians get. If you catch onto someone being as serious as these guys, assume they are outcasts of some kind.

I have trouble with the flow of what you are trying to say. I will do my best to decipher. Not materialistic in any way btw, being socialist/minimalist.

I do not need an idealogy that has existed. Chomsky is not more intelligent than I am. Marx is not more intelligent than I am. I think for myself. Right now I am interested in hybrids. i thought it was a bit. I dont see why we cant train our own guys. seems there is a sense of urgency maybe.

Thats the thing, if it is Special Forces then you are actually saving yourselves a huge amount of cash with each soldier recruited. UK / Australia / New Zealand use SAS forces - training, if not exactly the same, is extremely similar (hence all the missions they undertake together, complete with interchanging). In the UK in the early 1990's it cost just over £1 million per Special Forces soldier training. I imagine, therefore, this is similar "down under". That saving could be passed onto better shark nets for the tourist beaches!
