I wouldn't make that argument either. However -- what she is doing here is structurally the same as "music" artists have done for 30 or more years, and anyone who argues otherwise, wasn't there.

The same people that mock our contemporary society and entertainment around here often ascribe to it some nefarious and heightened meaning. Hows this for a theory, Katy Perry and Kanye West are pop artist that try to appeal to current popular themes...Katy Perry? Kanye? Rihanna? They are freaking POP artists! Im not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet or not, but has anyone seen the album cover. Her hair is styled like an Egyptian goddess. The way they have positioned her, her eye/eyebrow looks very similar to the eye of Horus.

As for the video....it was visually kind of neat but all in all not the best music video I've seen plus the song sucked. I don't like her music at all but there is worse out there.

Actually, that's not completely true. If you're talking about "all female artists these days" in the west, it is pretty much true. But if you look at other countries around the world, the styles are much more conservative and the role models are much, much more acceptable. The U.S. has been the King of "young slut creation" for many years. Madonna, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and now Gaga, they're all basically following the same "mega-skank" approach to propelling themselves into the media spotlight.

But, just as a couple of examples, take a look at the following two videos. These are fairly current examples of girls form Taiwan and Japan.

The Taiwanese girl group is called "Sweety" (can't get any more innocent than that) and I think you'll agree after watching, they're pretty sweet. There's very little there you wouldn't be very comfortable letting your young daughters see.

The Japanese girl group is called "Perfume", once again, a very inert, feminine and innocent name for a young girl group. The girls are a little more stylish and modern, but once again, they are not the perverted, slutty, skin showing girls that we see here in the west.

Let's face it, American culture is sinking lower and lower all the time, and the young kids in the U.S. are being exposed to some of the most mindless, vile trash in the world. Pretty sad.

I have to say the makeup is brilliant. Kabuki the makeup artist did genius creative work on Katy Perry. Floria Sigismondi is a very talented director and really did a great job. Creatively, this is beautiful. I don't even mind the singing on this song. Katy Perry looks beautiful. The lyrics are a little weird and it can be taken in all kinds of ways. When I first saw this video, I thought Lady Gaga.( I had to roll my eyes) I feel that everyone wants a piece of her action. Personally, I can't stand her and I feel she is an illuminati puppet and a fraud. (Lady Gaga) I also feel Kanye is the same. What I observe is, the music business is going in a very weird direction.(A lot of masonic imagery, sexual desensitization, demonic and pushing the gay agenda) Although I think this video is visually beautiful (except Kanye) I do think there is something not right about it. It just looks like another piece of the media brainwashing thing. In your face....in your face.
