You had to go back to slavery? Goody for you. Just proves my point since that was a democrat-owned ideology.

Yet slavery was a conservative institution of the south that was held in place by states rights advocates who claimed the Federal government was infringing on their right to own slaves. Last I checked conservatives are the ones concerned with states rights and low and behold so were the slaver states.

Kentucky

Whereas, the Federal Constitution, which created the Government of the United States, was declared by the framers thereof to be the supreme law of the land, and was intended to limit and did expressly limit the powers of said Government to certain general specified purposes, and did expressly reserve to the States and people all other powers whatever, and the President and Congress have treated this supreme law of the Union with contempt and usurped to themselves the power to interfere with the rights and liberties of the States and the people against the expressed provisions of the Constitution, and have thus substituted for the highest forms of national liberty and constitutional government a central despotism founded upon the ignorant prejudices of the masses of Northern society, and instead of giving protection with the Constitution to the people of fifteen States of this Union have turned loose upon them the unrestrained and raging passions of mobs and fanatics, and because we now seek to hold our liberties, our property, our homes, and our families under the protection of the reserved powers of the States, have blockaded our ports, invaded our soil, and waged war upon our people for the purpose of subjugating us to their will; and

Nice that you omit the 1st Amendment that the progressives want to rewrite.

You mean like the way the conservative SCOTUS decided that fictitious entities are "people" and that their money is equivalent to speech?

Sorry but conservatives already handle that, don't let your hypocrisy give you pause or a second of thought though...

Guess you never heard of southern democrats and the KKK.

And you do realize the company pays a large percentage and in some cases all of the plan cost. Thats why its often called a benefit, and part of your hiring package. I don't know if you know but there isn't much AFFORDABLE about it. This is also why so many companies are going to part time help, and cutting hours. The wifes company is going through this transition now, and as an executive she is part of the decision process at the owners behest.

I will admit that conservatism wants a smaller government that is ruled by private individuals who cannot be voted out.

I think progressives want more freedom over all, less the guns issue, and any corporate hogwash that corporatist equate as "freedom".

I would eliminate more laws than you any day of the week.

YES I have, exactly why Lyndon Johnson stated the Democratic party would loss the south for a generation after enacting the Civil Rights act of 1964. He was right and then some, it is exactly way you see the south turn Republican following the signing, all the racists jumped ship and the democratic party lost states that they had been winning for a century. But guess what? where do you think all those people went to after leaving the democrats?

First someone says this:

Once again, you want the small government, not me.

Then they say this:

The fact is though, your politicians betray your ideology and you are too foolish to figure out that the path to small government is managed by conservatives, not liberals

Really ?

That is what I have been saying for 4 YEARS.

Even though it has consistently been misrepresented on this board for that ENTIRE duration.

Can any of you neocons and neo-confederates point out one single government agency that conservatives have nixed?

Awesome I get to chalk up two more names I get called.

Even though someone said this:

the path to small government is managed by conservatives, not liberals.

Always nice to get disparaged in a thread.

Means I was on target.

Lincoln was hardly conservative.

He was anti states rights

He created a stronger federal government than any other president before him by creating a host of federal agencies and denied the states rights argument that was used to perpetuate slavery. \\

If you keep it up I will post a thread with all the articles of confederation that read like a Sarah Palin speech. Then I will spit down upon you all with impunity when the normal, non political ATS crowd weighs in.

the Union with contempt and usurped to themselves the power to interfere with the rights and liberties of the States and the people against the expressed provisions of the Constitution, and have thus substituted for the highest forms of national liberty and constitutional government a central despotism

Those confederates are liberals, so well known for their love of states rights lo

Sorry spider I wish I could make out what you're trying to say. The southern democrats were the KKK. A little gaggle on google will point you in the right direction for a source.
