Where did all the Democrat policies of "yesteryear" go to ?

They haven't gone anywhere.

They still are the party of slavery.

They just have a hipper rap today.

First someone says this:

Once again, you want the small government, not me.

Then they say this:

The fact is though, your politicians betray your ideology and you are too foolish to figure out that the path to small government is managed by conservatives, not liberals

Really ?

That is what I have been saying for 4 YEARS.

Even though it has consistently been misrepresented on this board for that ENTIRE duration.

Well you are right.

Why you guys think conservatism will be achieved by focusing on liberals is not a very good strategy for success. The problem is the party machine directs your attention at the progressives, meanwhile the conservative politicians are having a big government party everyday of the week.

And the party of high crime districts that vote Democrat every time.

There's hundreds of those.

Never could figure that phenomenon out.

The last time I checked the 'big government' republicans were getting kicked to the curb.

Just ask Cantor.

You had to go back to slavery? Goody for you. Just proves my point since that was a democrat-owned ideology.

Yet slavery was a conservative institution of the south that was held in place by states rights advocates who claimed the Federal government was infringing on their right to own slaves. Last I checked conservatives are the ones concerned with states rights and low and behold so were the slaver states.

Kentucky

Whereas, the Federal Constitution, which created the Government of the United States, was declared by the framers thereof to be the supreme law of the land, and was intended to limit and did expressly limit the powers of said Government to certain general specified purposes, and did expressly reserve to the States and people all other powers whatever, and the President and Congress have treated this supreme law of the Union with contempt and usurped to themselves the power to interfere with the rights and liberties of the States and the people against the expressed provisions of the Constitution, and have thus substituted for the highest forms of national liberty and constitutional government a central despotism founded upon the ignorant prejudices of the masses of Northern society, and instead of giving protection with the Constitution to the people of fifteen States of this Union have turned loose upon them the unrestrained and raging passions of mobs and fanatics, and because we now seek to hold our liberties, our property, our homes, and our families under the protection of the reserved powers of the States, have blockaded our ports, invaded our soil, and waged war upon our people for the purpose of subjugating us to their will; and

Nice that you omit the 1st Amendment that the progressives want to rewrite.

You mean like the way the conservative SCOTUS decided that fictitious entities are "people" and that their money is equivalent to speech?

Sorry but conservatives already handle that, don't let your hypocrisy give you pause or a second of thought though...

Guess you never heard of southern democrats and the KKK.

Ah yes that's when the Republicans were the Progressive party and Black folks were heavily Republican then this little thing called the southern strategy happened where they lured bigots to their side Blacks and others shift to the Democrats,so please today's Republicans is not the party of Lincoln that liberal proto socialist tree hugger.

Sorry spider I wish I could make out what you're trying to say. The southern democrats were the KKK. A little gaggle on google will point you in the right direction for a source.

Southern Stratergy
www.wisegeek.com...

I gaggled and gooled this for ya, the Dixiecrats and KKK guy switched party which in turn cause AAs to abondoned the Republicans,in other words your party assuming you are a Rep invited them in.

Well the problem with righties is that you have lost touch with reality, really, not in a sarcastic or joking sort of way.
The equivalent would be me posting on ATS that conservatives started the welfare system...

The civil war was a question of states rights VS Federal power. The slave states thought that the constitution entitled citizens to have slaves because they believed the question of slaves was a state issue, not a federal issue.

The Confederacy was a group of states that did not want to be subject to federal laws that demanded the end to slavery. In response to Lincoln's federal Law, those states broke with the U.S and started a confederacy which is a weaker form of government.

The civil war was over states rights VS federal power, and you damn well know liberals are not into states rights, yet you pretend that liberals were the slavers???

How could liberals champion slavery and states rights AND also be big government federalists?

You guys keep saying liberals were the slavers, but you fail to see that the civil war was based upon the same arguments we are having today. I am NOT saying you guys are slave owners or racists, but the truth is clear. Your version of history, if you play it out to it's logical conclusion would mean that liberals were fighting the ferderal government to preserve states rights, doesn't that sound stupid to you, I mean really?

Good for you guys, now that guy was a prick and I would say the GOP is closer to good without him.

But if you guys elect another big spending, big government guy like Bush and he spends like Bush, and errodes freedom like Bush, are you guys gonna speak up? You see that is where your real power is...

(CNN) - A majority of voters say they've heard enough from Sarah Palin, according to a new national poll.

The NBC/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania survey indicates that 54% of voters say they've heard enough from Palin and would prefer that the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate be less outspoken in political discourse. That includes nearly two-thirds of Democrats, a majority of independents, and nearly four in 10 Republicans.

And McCain agrees and he said:

Sen. John McCain, who tapped Palin as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election, said while he "respect(s) always Sarah Palin's views," her comments might hurt Republican chances of taking control of the Senate in 2014.

CNN

I agree, but the reason I think she should shut up is the fact she placed a cross hair on Gabby Gifford, then later Gifford was shot in the head, by some one that claimed it was a assassination. So much for taking responsibility for the hate one spews.

Cheney had 45% saying he should shut up, I thought this number would be much higher. Jesse Jackson grabbed a 51% and Newt got 43%. Let them speak, and let the voters decide this November.

Wait! she put a cross hair on Gifford.. the same Gifford who her and her husband were against assault weapons.. even before she got shot? DO you mean the same Gifford who's husband went out and bought an assault weapon post shooting and when he was caught turned it into the police department saying something to the effect of "another one off of the street"?

The horror... I am not a fan of Palin's but sometimes a voice is a voice. Obama likes to hear himself tell lies and then pat himself on the back and think that anything he says is really important to the people.. Even the goats who spout Obbbaammmaa... are coming around to see the truth.

I'm just waiting for her to get desperate for air time, peel down and start dancing with a pole ;-) She seems to still be in pretty good shape for a Monarch program graduate. I wish I knew what her trigger words were, I could have such fun with that little bit of info.

Cheers - Dave

So you admit conservatism wants a smaller government and more freedom and the progressive movement wants a bigger government and less freedom.

brilliant.

We agree.

Prove it. When was the last time a "conservative" President decreased the size of government or gave people more freedom?

Never, it is all a game.

They LOVE government as long as they get to formulate the policy

Last time I checked 'Liberals' were the ones who created the KKK.

KKK Terrorist Arm of the Democratic Party

Then there is the whole Lincoln deal that gave slaves their freedom.

You know that 'conservative'.

I guess if you have don't really understand the history of American politics and don't make a distinction between political parties and ideologies or appreciate the evolution of both.

Running around saying "Well Lincoln was a Republican!" and "Democrats created the KKK!" might get you a few stars but where you think it shows some keen familiarity with history, it indicates a limited understanding. Ever heard of William Jennings Bryan? Are you familiar with the "solid south?"

What you should understand is that the whole lot have created an alternate "history" were liberals perpetuated slavery and Jim Crow.

They have a youtube video

I also found the intellectual leader of conservatism in America

Uhg, this thread belongs in the Skunk Works. Considering the Op is based on the fallacy that Sarah Palin is responsible for the shooting of Gabby Gifford, it is no more relevant than an animatronic bigfoot head blinking in the woods.
