My belief on it is that pakistan was hiding OBL and he was paying them to do so, when he ran out of money/refused to pay them anymore they let it leak to the states where he was.

Oh Lord,Please nOOOOOooo!
They're going to milk this and turn it into the new reality show-"At home with the Bin Ladens"

Enough USGov please!
How come its bad to release pics of him dead in case it inflames his followers-BUT it OK to release films of his daily life?

Won't that inflame his followers just as much?

There's no such thing as bad publicity as they...

They've release the tapes...

english.aljazeera.net...

Videos mainly show Osama bin Laden rehearsing taped remarks, but also show him watching himself on TV.

Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan, reporting from the Pentagon in Washington DC, said that the video clips were shown to journalists, but the sound was removed from them.

"We did see a video of Osama bin Laden watching video of himself on what appears to be Al Jazeera," she said.

Wayne Madsen, an investigative journalist speaking to Al Jazeera from Washington DC, said that it was still difficult to confirm that all these videos do show bin Laden, as some are not clear.

"There are going to be many more questions raised after the release of these videos, because there have been videos and images in the past that were thought to be of bin Laden, but some of those turned out to be fake."

I'm sure there's a good reason why someone filmed Osama watching himself on television, but I am failing to understand it at the moment.

Maybe the U.S. govt. wants to make Osama look like a loser. Watching himself looking like the leader of the Muslim resistance is making him nostalgic.

There's really no telling what the dates on some of these are. Get to work, I say!

I think they're going to hold off on his "final message" video? Seems so.

I didnt ask why they released it. I asked why it would have been filmed in the first place. He had some guy filming him watching teevee? I suppose it could be used for propaganda reasons.

why is the audio gone? Seems like it might add some real context.

Thanks. I'm already having trouble keeping track of just what they released. I'm looking to see if someone posted a master list or something. Seems that non-English broadcast one showed different stuff than what I've seen on our media so far.

The links to WaPo and CNN keep crashing on me so I can't check those

Hmmm...perhaps to show that the Americans are always having Osama Bin Laden on the news, even American news. Guess they didn't want to release this video for propaganda cause it looks stupid with him covered in a blanket and looking like hes in a loony bin.
