You know what, if you have all the answers, then share them. Please, give it to us. If you think you know so much better than everyone else, and everything sounds so completely ridiculous to you, then prove it to us. If you can't, then drop the attitude. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I'm eager to share my ideas. So be constructive with your thoughts instead of looking down your nose at everyone else. I'm tried of it - with ALL of you ATSers with your blinders on. Rip off your blinders and join the visionaries, because all of the greatest scientists in the world dared to imagine.

Maybe you should try it.

I don't have all the answers. I only said think for yourself. That's all I ever say. You don't need a guru. You don't need a priest. You don't need me giving you the answers. You don't need anything from me. Figure it out for yourself.

If you are unable to, then the New Age movement might be the perfect answer for you.

That's a perfect suggestion! ...that is, if I'm willing to settle for half-informed emotionally-founded opinions rather than actual fact-based research supported by years of professional education. And a lot of these "New Age" people are actually highly decorated professors who have spent decades in their fields and are respected for their work. Some people find they don't quite understand, decide the subject matter creeps them out because of one thing or another they read or were taught in their youth, and disregard it as bunk. Because it's easier than actually doing the research and taking your inner demons to task.

Stomping out the opposition rather than confronting it with reason and logic has always been the way of the Church...you know, the people who took the source material for "New Age" stuff and completely rewrote it because it's a magnificent political tool and the only way to survive is to glue yourself to the top branch and convince everyone else they should stay at the bottom.

If you actually do the research, you'll find that a lot of ancient cultures were heavily influenced by "New Age" studies that have far-reaching implications in science. Noetics, cymatics, Pythagorean, Galileo, Da Vinci, psionics, sacred geometry, aether, telemetry, all of it. The reason it sounds so questionable is because our knowledge is questionable.

Do you really think we're anywhere close to knowing everything? We're not. And like language is used to express math, religion is used to express spirituality. Unfortunately, how you express a subject affects everything you learn about it. I willingly admit that, and that is the biggest catch of the entire equation. Expression. The conveyance of an idea. The defining of an impression, a thought, an emotion, in order to package and deliver it. And the defining is completely ruled by the culture that defines it. How can you define a feeling without your own feelings getting in the way?

New Ageism, before it is complete, if it DOES become complete, will bring about a revolution in the definition of our reality. Our language will be forced to break its bonds, or we will be forced to forever abandon progress. Language will no longer suffice. We must transcend language. We must communicate mind to mind, because only then will the artistic masterpiece not be tainted by the impure oils and rough canvases of our words. It will be the digital print of our heart, straight from the recesses of our psyche to the recesses of your psyche.

A revolution in definition, a revolution in understanding. That's what I want. That's what I'd hoped 2012 will bring. It can still happen. But just like the dollar, only we can redefine our world. Only we can accept that truth.

it doesnt move anyone close to the truth its just more propaganda support for the new age train that has lost its way

Sounds like you lost your way and are blaming the new age train you choose to get on. Yes there is lots of wild speculative bs, but it's about finding the diamonds in the rough. If you didn't find any diamonds, you weren't looking properly.. The new age movement is not sopposed to be followed like a religion.

I would not say it lost its way, though it did get slowed down and diverted because of greed, and a need to attract peoples attention.

It has not, and it probably will not, bring any revolution, no matter how hard you try to hammer your wishful thinking into other people's heads. Every example you mentioned—Pythagoreanism, noetics, aether—has slowed intellectual progress by leading us to dead ends. If you've done your research, you'll find everything that has been stamped with the hopeful mysticism of idealists has been a barrier to the culture of humanity; and every advancement made in the name of progress has had to do so by fighting tooth and nail against these barriers.

This is what the New Age version of spirituality represents—the slowing of progress and the falsification of truth in favour of happiness. It's hedonism with an ascetic dress. It's vanity. It's nihilism.

No one likes to hear this opinion, but I nonetheless enjoy the knee-jerk reaction I always receive for having it.

To be sure, there is some nutty stuff out there. People cite Jim Jones and his Kool Aid. It's the perfect scaremongering. Then there's the Branch Davidian thing and WACO ranch. Those people were trying communalism. I remember when all the cult scaremongering was going on in the late 70's early 80's, and families would hire "deprogrammers" to kidnap their kids and break the "programming" done by the cults.

Then there were rumors and scandals with the ISKON. They do have some great books with the best pictures, but there was some shady stuff going on apparently.
Then there is the sort of leftover hippie commune stuff and people who don't want real commitment, but want all the happy dreamy Utopian stuff. I've seen a lot of that and a drift toward Socialist Utopianism with this type. This type dream that everyone is happy and equal and we are all truly One. Where they get lost is they don't understand the evil in the Totalitarian way set up by Communists, Marxists, and Socialists. I've seen this trend around here. They are perfectly happy to have Gun Control measures to save the children and because we are all One we don't need guns and killing....right? This type of person may truly feel that taking another's paycheck to save a starving child is the only way to do it, as long as they are saving people. They forgot that people make karma and sometimes the karmic hammer comes down. I'm all for saving people but not the Totalitarian Way.

There are all types of people living on this planet. Some people are on the quest, some people are not. One thing that is an interesting characteristic of the New Age movement, and that is a focus on the metaphysical nature, a focus on energies, meridians, chi, chakras, auras, mudras, the kundalini, the Higher Self, the Inner Self, etc.

Unfortunately, so many people are so stuck in materialism, they cannot understand that Inner being or the delicate layers of consciousness. And they do not even know that the reason for their unhappiness is that they have lost their connection with their Creator.
In my view, Secular Humanism is the antithesis of the New Age Movement because it is based on materialism.
The New Age movement is really indicative of the new energies of the Aquarian Age and the coming of the 7th Angel prophesied in Revelation.
One can go on the Internet and find any number of fascinating sites with New Age Material. Some of it is just stolen from others, but nevertheless, one cannot patent the Higher Self just like one cannot patent herbs.

New Age is simply a transition from the old Piscean era to the Aquarian Age, and it is the end of the cycle around the zodiac. The idea is that it is supposed to be a Golden Age, but so many people are working to keep the people enslaved to old ideas and to Totalitarian methods of control.
That is the Battle of Armageddon, the battle between light and dark. It would not be in the Bhagavad Gita if it were not so.

I would like to mention that the UN and the World Council of Churches has taken advantage and capitalized on the concepts of New Age religion, and included the Dalai Lama in it's ranks of using religion and New Age stuff in it's bid for world control. What do I mean? The UN has a New Age goddess named Gaia to whom the Climate Change people worship and guilt people into letting them control all resources of the earth, so Gaia won't be angry. The idea is that the everything on the earth is a connected organism and the proponents believe that humans are parasites. This is the idea behind the UN Agenda 21...That we must limit our use of the resources because other animals need living space here and humans are evil. So who is going to do all this limiting? Why it's the NWO Elite.

It is a complete perversion of the New Age movoement, replacing growth and abundance with the science of misery and lack.

Stop listening to the modern trends and dip your own mind in the ancient knowledge. Meditate and discern for yourself, any teaching we choose to 'follow' or identify with is just a replacement for the current cutural attraction to a sure path to a sure goal. There is nothing sure or straight about any particular teaching but that which you, a unique individual, are in need of.

Some dusty books I'd recommend - The yoga sutras of patanjali, the Kybalion, the Bible..... Lectures by thinkers like Vivekananda, krishnamurti, terrence mckenna- all of these are mystical teachings that can bring truth and light without the need of a teacher. When one needs a guru or a teacher they will make their presence known.

Dont throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I started to get into the new age ideas about 18 months ago, and like most people read literature and listened to the various youtube videos which explain ideas, beliefs and conceptualisations of the gurus who inhabit the intellectualism of the new age spirit void. I was for many months fascinated by what i was listening to, and as the months turned into about a year i began to assimilate and examine closely what i heard; to establish a point of reference for the consciousess mind for it to be able to accept widsom and intelligence from the etheral source of antiquous light.

Upon the epsiode of pondering the widsoms of the new age i began to see many cracks and inconsistences in the teachings of the esoteric preachers, guides, the lightworkers and the gurus. My reaction was to suspect foul play of being duped by sweet talking conmen out to profit from the goodwill of people genuinely seeking enlightment. This suspicion gradually subsided and i went through a second phase thinking possibly the new age is a covert front for Satanists. Many of the new age teachings center on the path to enlightement requiring accepting there is no dark or light only the path, and openly identify some of there icons as eygptian deities who definitely resemble some kind of dark Aztec paganistic creatures.

Now i have finally come to realise i was mainly off track about the above. What i have realised is most new age gurus, lightworkers, guides dont really know what they are talking about. What they know is alot of phrases and jargon which kinda sounds mystical, clever, intelligent and deep but in reality its fictional nonscence they are making up. Whats really ironic is i have come to realise they have fooled themselves with this nonscence and really do believe in it. Yes they belioeve their own BS. Unfortunately for them it being nonscence means the only true point of reference they can ever really ascend to is that where contradiction, confusion and maddness reside as the dominion of their mental faculties.

I only have to point to teh 2012 non- event to say i rest my case on this one....Guilty as charged!

This is actually a pretty contentious aspect of my marriage right now. Without getting too personal my wife is deep into the "new age" thought(s) and I am reserved on it. A lot of it doesn't make sense to me and I simply just don't understand some of it. There is some science to it that makes a little sense but in practice not really.

What I find to be the most difficult to understand is that they idea is to live a spiritual life with foundations that are outside of the physical world and more from the ethereal universe...which I cannot for the life of me understand WHY one would try to live from those principals in a physical world...it's not practical...the rules don't apply here.

Yea maybe in another dimension void of physical laws utilizing some of these new age principals would make sense and be of use...They just seem so pointless here and completely impractical and honestly to me its infuriating to try and implement them.

they say were spiritual beings having a physical experience then they try to live a spiritual life and remove themselves from the physical world mentally and ideologically...??? Isn't that defeating the point of this "physical experience"???

Its like trying to use black crayon on black paper and then trying to justify it by saying white paper exists...

I dunno it makes no practical sense to me at all...I get frustrated because the "new age" mindset fails to accurately describe anything really...its very vague and generalized.

Perhaps the contention could be smoothed by realising that any spiritually minded person in a relationship such as your's relies on their partner to be the Grounding they require. I see it in a lot of relationships, mainly where the women is spiritually minded and her partner is not. They learn to work together as a team where the Ground supports the other in their efforts even if they do not agree with or understand it themselves.

I enjoyed your perspective of "the rules don't apply here" and find it to be an excellent Insight, although it is very much only half the equation as human rules do not apply anywhere else except for here. With here only being a Consensual Reality, we must consider that the spiritual realms all around us operate in ways most humans are yet to discover.

If you don't understand some of it that is okay too. You have reached your current limit of perception and thus understanding. It is not a bad thing by any means, it is only what is, currently. Many people cannot see the most basic understandings yet, and we must allow them to have their own experience otherwise we are doing the same as other evangelists. You are already well beyond that limitation in that you have had access to and been able to understand quite a lot of it. What you do with it is up to you and there is no pressure to have you comply with anyone else's rules or beliefs.

"they say were spiritual beings having a physical experience then they try to live a spiritual life and remove themselves from the physical world mentally and ideologically...??? Isn't that defeating the point of this "physical experience"??? "

Yes! Yes it is, to a point. The main aim of all spiritual movements is to have people grow awareness of the greater part of themselves and eventually to become that while still in the physical body. This we could think of as the next step in human evolution.

We must learn not to create so many separations in our minds, if we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. We must also learn to accept the experience for what it is and learn to understand why we chose it in the first place. Then we must anjoy the experience for what it is, purely experience. And how wonderful is the range of possible experiences humans can have ? Very. As long as we don't go about seeing only negatives without any balance. (not saying this is what you are doing)

If we only choose one half of the equation then we limit ourselves and the possible experiences available to us.

The new-age mindset is not supposed to describe anything for anyone, and that it has been trying to describe things is one of the fatal flaws it is experiencing. Instead, its task was simply to show people how to make personal contact with the divine within themselves and then allow the people to move on in their own experiences to further their own growth. Sadly, it has failed miserably due to being hijacked by standard human motivations.

I have enjoyed reading your post and think you are further along to your own 'awakening' than you may think.

What bluesma experienced was one of the frauds, that's all. If bluesma was able to see the energy field around people they would have known for fact that the "channeler" was a fraud because they would have noted no change in that field indicating 'higher communications'.

I distrust all channelers for that reason. I have seen many over of the years and was truly amazed at the number who Believe they are channeling when they are simply regurgitating some fluff of their own mind.

My perception is that today very few real 'channelers' exist. Most are frauds and perform Shows.

But do we tar all people with the same brush or do we take each individual on their own merits ?

Dear athlonsavage, all truth can be verified, if it cant its not truth. REAL truth is very different than opinions or ideas, or even religion. It is universal, and ever lasting. It is something that can be looked up and something you know in soul to be true. New age is runned by elite and company to draw you on wrong path. A time waster intended to confuse and even spread fear. A lesson learned.

We have The Eternal Spirit. The One Light. That is in everything and in us all. It is very far from religion. What man seek is coming back to Him/Her. Everything elite and company does and as such new age is to distract you from it. To reconnect. When you are one with The Great Spirit, Divine Source, you come home. You are free from delusions and falsity. For not talk about being on the negative down spiraling path.. Or the confused path. Where you seek and seek, but cannot grasp.

My dear athlonsavage. He is waiting. He is in you. with your breath. In your mind. You could go into meditation. Get into the stillness of the mind. Clear your thoughts or anything else. Wait. Reach for the LIGHT. He is there. To ever guide you and comfort you. Youve just disconnected. By own distortion and confused thoughts. He is there. Most of everything outside of you will tell you Hes not. But, youve had your experience. Reach in, and touch someone.. like The Spirit of all. He has nothing to do with religion. If you try regurlarly you will start to hear Him talk to you. It has to be with clean intent. And you have to want it. But ultimately, everyone is seeking Him.

We live in a time of confusion and chaos. There are major evil. For more truth to you, www.phoenixsourcedistributors.com

Go within. Verify. Get on the site. Verify. Everything can be verified,if you care to do the legwork. This is truth they dont want you to have.

With Great Spirit you become untouchable for evil.
May you choose well.

So is Gaia a real living person on earth today or a symbolic Goddess?

Gaia is not a living person, per se, but a symbol of the feminine aspect of the earth. The roots of Gaia are in pagan religion based on the feminine aspect. However, James Lovelock took the concept of Gaia and morphed it into a "scientific theory" on the earth as a living organism. The problem is that the people who believe in Gaia have either taken it too far and considered humans as parasites and they take it to the point of trying to bring all on earth into a more primitive state of living which means the rationing of resources and a very radical idea of sustainability. These are the people who think that someone at the top of the pyramid should be able to control what resources the rest of us have access to. To do that, they have devised a whole system of "sustainable development", which really translates into rationing of water, electric, land resources, food, etc. They think they get to tell the rest of humanity what we can and cannot do on our own land because we might make Gaia angry. It really is just another face of World Communism or World Totalitarianism. They abuse the New Age movement with a desire to return to everything organic, but basically these are the ones who are demanding we use those horrid cfl light bulbs which emit toxic substances instead of incandescants because they think cfls last longer and are more sustainable. In short the whole Climate Change/Gaia thing is based on eco-Nazism and they want everyone on board whether we like it or not.

How's that for an answer?

The greatest way to help others is to not be dependent of them receiving your help.
In that way, you have done for yourself what you expect to teach others, and you have become a great example for those whose nature is to follow, and who you expected to follow your teachings anyway.

You do desire to teach others to be independent, correct?
What better way to do so, than to be independent yourself, and let them Be and have their life with their tools.

Who would you say has done that same service to you?

And their was no wish for you to have taken notice of who did it, for what good would it do to have an idol whose only intention was for you to be independent, not to be praised by you...?
Likewise, each have a choice at the end of the day, and it is so more valuable than an intent to control which path they should take (even if it is "the good path"), that free-will continues to exist/prevail while that interference occurs.
And what does one teach others when they are attempting to push individuals in a certain direction?
- manipulation, as well as a reliance on the malleability of others to fulfill a personal agenda.

One self once said something like this:
No matter what methodology you take, when using it on incorrect data (in this case, the attempt to sway people to do the right thing), you will obtain results which were unexpected [and perhaps the very opposite of what you desired].

Yes best answer i have ever heard, finally makes sense. I was reading a womans webpage and she was proclaiming herself to be Gaia and i think thats where the original source of my confusion resided. Its the people who proclaim themselves to be literal Gods or Goddesses rebirthed on a missions to save humanity that tend to of have thrown lots of misleading and false spanners into the new age movement. These people have spammed and hurt the new age movement badley.
