Anyway, what's happened to the bunkers from previous wiped out civilisations? Why don't we ever dig them up?

For once a good, direct question.

You can read about tunnels throughout the Earth and underground cities everywhere. They exist and they are inexplicably man-made. And they go down deep and they go on for miles and miles. Our planet is honeycombed with tunnels which can't be explained; some connecting different countries together. Furthermore they date back at least 10,000 years. They are man-made not natural lava tubes. Why would primitive man need to live in tunnels and spend so much of his time making them? Well, if an even earlier generation had retreated from the demolished surface world, tunnels became mankind's natural home. The American Indians say their ancestors lived in underground cities and came out from under the ground.

If this isn't enough of a clue, it's necessary to pose the next question: If we have civilizations living deep underground in cities and moving among miles of tunnels, how did they See in the dark? I can't answer this question but dating back thousands of years to various accounts of illuminated tombs being discovered (not to mention writings in old books, especially Alchemy which is where you'd expect to find lost tech knowledge passed along) there are references to "ever-burning lamps" which defy our current understanding but would explain the How. To take the next logical step, we can conclude that these "ever-burning lamps" represent a remnant of a long-lost High Technology once employed in the ancient world in a time before humanity was destroyed. www.levity.com... www.levity.com...

To further wet your appetite, I could throw in strange sightings of beings like Bigfoot, Yeti, and all the other hairy cryptid giants (including the Jersey Devil and Mothman) and mention something which curiously ties them all together. They are all sighted within the vicinity of caves or caverns, or regions where entrances to deep crevices into the Earth are known to be located. It isn't too difficult to imagine that they originate from an underground society.

For once a good, direct question.

Which you've not answered. Show me a bunker that was made using modern style technology, that would have been used by your hypothesised society that would have shielded them from this nuclear war?

The fact that humans, for thousands of years, have built underground labyrinths is no secret - some archaeologists specialise in this area. It does not indicate any level of technological sophistication whatsoever. All that's needed to dig a tunnel is a wooden paddle - though people have dug them with their bare hands.

Ancient, machine dug, concreted tunnels....now that would support your hypothesis...unfortunately we've never found any.

Here is a
much better article on the German tunnels you linked to.

A few radiocarbon dating analyses have also been performed, and they indicate that the galleries date back to the 10th to the 13th century. Bits of charcoal recovered from the Erdstall tunnels in Höcherlmühle date back to the period between 950 and 1050 A.D.

Heinrich Kusch, a prehistorian from the Austrian city of Graz, believes that these results are incorrect. He suspects that some of the subterranean systems were built about 5,000 years ago, in the Neolithic period. For several years now, he has been probing Austria's Steiermark region with giant drills for "gateways to the underworld."

But Kusch's theory has lost some of its appeal. All of the radiocarbon dating analyses completed to date indicate that the tunnels were built in the Middle Ages, challenging the validity of the prevailing school of thought. It holds that the tunnels were built during the Migration Period (known as the "Völkerwanderung" in German) in the 5th and 6th centuries, when entire tribes left their homes and abandoned the cemeteries of their ancestors. The assumption was that the tunnels and galleries were created so that the dead could still be venerated.

It is clear, at any rate, that they were built by professionals. They dug the tunnels in a kneeling position, using wedge-shaped tools held with both hands. Every few meters, they chiseled cavities into the walls for their oil lamps. They dug the longer passageways in serpentine form to reduce the pressure from the surrounding earth. Supporting planks were not used.

Around the year 1200, the underground labyrinths were filled in and the entrances blocked with rubble. The rubble contained ceramics clearly attributable to the Gothic period.

You can read about tunnels throughout the Earth and underground cities everywhere. They exist and they are inexplicably man-made.

What's inexplicable about a tunnel?

And they go down deep and they go on for miles and miles. Our planet is honeycombed with tunnels which can't be explained;

No, it isn't. Hundreds of miles of disparate tunnels does not equal "honeycombed". Explaining them is easy: people dug them using crude tools.

If this isn't enough of a clue, it's necessary to pose the next question: If we have civilizations living deep underground in cities

There have been no civilisations living in deep underground cities. This is arrant nonsense. How would they eat? Where would their agriculture take place?

That is what the whole Cover-Up is about. In the dark, Deep tunnels: How would they see? How would they eat? How would they survive?

I've already answered how they would see: using advanced "ever-burning lamp" technology of their ancestors. If you're going to live in a deep underground bunkers, you damned well have reliable light sources available. They've been lost to the past, but there are writings about them. Obviously man-made tunnels Cannot be made in the dark! And they do honeycomb the Earth's crust. Why would simple cavemen do this? Well, maybe if the surface was unlivable... don't ya think? And food sources, well, hydroponic gardens and the like I would guess.

I can no more show you these advanced underground bunkers of our long-lost ancestors any more than I can show you the cities reported to be under Giza. Nobody's allowed down there. In fact, it's a major No-No Law in countries these days to go exploring in caves. The government will fine you and/or imprison you. They don't want us looking Down There.

Now I'll throw a little speculation in, since it's obviously needed to get the old noggin going. You have an advanced civilization which builds nuclear bunkers miles under the Earth untold thousands of years ago to escape a surface nuclear war (or Some sort of catastrophe which would drive populations to seek shelter underground). Obviously the descendants of these people, still "trapped" underground, would branch out over time; dig their own tunnels, probably using advanced tech at first and then, after centuries, regressing to simpler tools. These tunnels will branch out from the main underground bunkers and the farther they branch off, the cruder they will become. I suspect degenerate breeds of man who became cutoff from advanced tech to in turn build sub-standard mini-cities at various points as well, on their way to branching outwards and hopefully upwards. Eventually they'll reach the surface and reclaim it. They become, to give one example, the American Indians, with nothing but myths about their ancestors having emerged from the Earth (around Death Valley and the Grand Canyon) in some long distant time. It is therefore only the crudest of tunnels which are discovered first, but would we be allowed to trace these tunnels deep into the Earth, sooner or later we'd encroach upon more Advanced, machined tunnels and from there the original high-tech bunkers and cities. The latter you would not find under one mile beneath your back yard. And if by some freak chance you Did discover something, FatherLukeDuke would be called a liar and put away in some mental institution somewhere. By that time all evidence would have been taken care of...

Now--Today--why should We build bomb shelters miles beneath the Earth. I mean, you've said it yourself, how would people see, how would people eat, how would people breathe? If the technology exists today to answer these questions and make life livable down there...Obviously it had to once have existed long ago for an ancient civilization to do the same. An ancient hi-tech global society. It's come full circle.
