It's a popular subject, try not to get too dismayed by the fact that it produces lots of threads.

Chill out, ignore them if they bother you so much.

The ATS staff will decide if the number needs to be reduced, it depends on each thread bringing some new relevance.

Lots of other threads to enjoy, why get hung-up on birther threads ??

Cosmic...

But you see I already told you my thoughts on Bush. Did you not hear it? You totally go ballistic over Michael Savage because Huffpo hates him, and yet, he even says in his new book that he used to be a liberal.

I never said a word about anything Huffpo had to say about Savage. My evaluation is my own and I never credited anyone else with it. Why do you keep replying to me with things I have never written? Is it on purpose or should you be napping?

So here you guys are yelling about Savage when Savage exposed Bush as a fiscal socialist. I think you are much too partisan for your own good.

Yelling, or mentioning?

Savage is like garlic and holy water to liberals because he knows what they are about. I hope you just took in the last post on the current status of Chrysler..
While Bush started the baillout(and many of us were against it including myself) Bush did not make himself the head of an auto maker as Barry did.....

sayanythingblog.com...
theblacksphere.net...

So you like Weiner. That is nice. I do not see what you are doing to help your case. You were tasked with coming up with legitimate complaints about president Obama and the second thing on your list is something Bush did and you now admit knowing Bush did it. If it is that hard to come up with legitimate complaints about Obama then I cannot help but suspect an agenda. Constantly replying with things I never said is helpful as well. You tried to call me out on bringing up race, accusing you of repeating something for some reason, and using Huffpo to discredit Savage when I never did any of those things.

Yah you're right. I barely read your post it's so full of baloney. I did misread that part of your post. It's 5:15 and I've been up all night

So why you keep going is beyond me but I must say it is fun to watch. You and I both know that the only people you are convincing are the people that already agree with you. Everyone else can see how your best arguments against me so far all include things you just imagined happened in your own head. Maybe you should get some sleep. It is even later now so your excuse must be even more valid.

I cannot believe I am being attacked for questioning the following things.

1-A birther that believes time travel was involved in making the newest fake birth certificate.
2-A birther that believes Obama's hands are so similar that he must be half alien - NOT KIDDING.
3-A crack investigator that keeps arguing with me about things I never said.

Yeah, I am the nutjob here.

it's not a birth certificate wich can make a good or bad president. ask birthers if they'd like to vote for an AMORICAN IDIOT, as in green day memory... oh wait, that was bush...

14 seems light, I'd swear there was more, maybe it's just unrelated threads that get filled with this crap too. I agree 100% and fully support the "right" these people have to make outlandish claims. I'd prefer they be kept in line with the T&C, which they are not, and I'd prefer either a dedicated forum, like the Japan situation required, or at least like the OP suggests, a single stickied thread in the political madness forum, keeping ALL discussion of ALL things birth certificate related there.

As was pointed out in one of the more recent BC threads, the core group of "birthers" that has formed is not here to sway people to their side, they are here to pat each other on the back and help feed each others delusions. Besides offering the same regurgitated, and debunked, claims, any attempt to get a REASON to even look at their information is met with name calling and hissy fits. Proving, to me and at least 1 other user, they are not here to sway people to their side and help them "see the light". It's more of a "I'm a social outcast in real life so lets form an online clique" type deal. Again, I fully support these peoples right to do this, and even to attack me when I disregard their claims.

I don't think it's fair to the site as a whole to allow them to constantly spam the site with redundant information. This isn't allowed for other topics, the BC fiasco should not be treated any differently. I'd even go further and stipulate any information that has already been debunked be banished to the hoax or trash from now on.

I completely agree with you. These birther conspiracies (all of which have been shown to be misinformation, disinformation or downright ignorance or knowingly false) should be in the Hoax or Highly Speculative forums. But they attract the fringe when the titles appear on the front page. And it's clearly FAR more about the numbers than it is about the content lately. Sadly, there's very little critical thought to be found on ATS these days.

Take heart. Most of the birther threads are confined to the Political Madness forum and you can remove that from your favorites. That's what I did. Then, I can pop over to that forum, when I feel like I want to have some Fun with Birthers. But otherwise, I can ignore it.

The other reason to take heart is that many "after-birthers" such as myself (
) are becoming less and less interested in feeding the birther madness machine, and are opting out of the insanity...

Feeding Birther Threads Gives Them Power

All we really have to do is stop posting in them and they will die from lack of attention. I know it's fun (for me) so every once in a while I will go for a dip, but for the most part, if you want fewer birther threads, don't feed them.

Thirdly, the election is coming up. It's going to get guano crazy around here. If the birther threads bother you now, just wait to see all the stops come out as we get closer to election... We're in for a wild ride! Yee-Haw!

But, but, but,
it makes such a great campaign ad.

Obama Campaign Hawks Birth Certificate T-Shirt, Campaign Claims Its A “Mobile Version” of Truth Squad to Refute Birther Book

President Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign today started selling “Made in the USA” t-shirts featuring images of both President Obama and the long-form birth certificate he released copies of last month.

“Wear your support for this campaign with an official Made in the USA T-shirt,” his website advertises. Donate $25 or more today and we'll send you your limited-edition shirt.

Coffee-mugs are also available.

“Remember ‘fight the smears’ from the 2008 campaign?” asked campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt. “This is the mobile version of it.”

I think they would love nothing more then to keep this controversy going,

"They." are keeping it going, it becomes painfully obvious with the timing of the release,

Perhaps. But ATS is not the Obama Campaign.
It's certainly their prerogative to use the birther movement to further their chances, if that's what they want, but we're supposed to be about something else here. Denying Ignorance.

I don't want to shut up the birthers, but I think the number of threads and the repeated posting of previously-debunked material should have some attention. I think these threads should be treated with the same skeptical eye that the other highly speculative subjects are.

If you have some gripe with the Birth Certificate don't make another thread wasting space on an apparent non-issue you that you think it is.

But the rest of us will research and discuss the issue as we deem interesting to us. I'd prefer you not to advocate censorship because its exactly what your doing.

Here's a thought. Perhaps ATS can just create a BC forum just like the other forums recently created for topics far less controversial. Enter the forum at your own risk!!!!! I can clearly state that I don't cruise the 9/11 forum because it does not interest me. How many of the same theories have been recirculated through that forum in recent years.

If you don't like it... don't read it...above all don't derail it for all of the wrong reasons.

Agreed i've seen many trolls and people trying to De-Rail the BC threads because they have nothing better to do other than attack the Birthers; because somehow they have some kind of vehement feeling about hating the topic that they think is a non-issue yet they continually add rhetoric and repetitive posts to Birther threads Consisting of posts such as this example

Example:" Why are you guys still discussing this it was debunked on other threads"

When they fail to provide a link to the topic at hand and usually the link is un-related to the new found basis of evidence being discussed.

Pick something, anything. I will show you a thread it has been debunked in. This is not a challenge so that you can call me a troll. I want to show you the reality of this. Especially since you call this out as some tactic, I feel the reality of it might be helpful for you. So please pick something.

Some people complain about there being too many threads on the certificate. Well there's thousands on aliens and ufo's.. So if I don't agree that ufo's and aliens exist, should I request that there only be 1 thread on ufo's and aliens? Can't have it both ways. You either censor or you don't. Personally I'd rather keep the freedom we have, god knows we've lost everything else. Remember this isn't China, we have the right to talk trash about our government.

Calling these people "birthers" only divides us, when in fact we should be coming together to find the real truths. If you don't agree with the evidence they present, then prove it wrong and educate them. Don't stifle their ability present their views. If you lump all these threads into 1 you have effectively killed the thread, because no one is going to sift through a 100 page thread and you know it.

From my OP. This is advocating censorship?

As much as I truly despise this whole birther thing, I support freedom of speech and respect people's right to express their opinions even if they differ from mine. So, I'm wondering if there can be just one thread, maybe a stickied one that people can discuss all aspects of this issue on?

Also, I have requested the thread be deleted. I should have realized it would turn into a mess and certainly not remain focused on the simple question I asked. Apologies for the added clutter.

That's a load of crap and you know it, it's you, and yes, I mean specifically YOU that do that, and what "new found basis of evidence" are you talking about? the same evidence presented months ago, and thoroughly debunked, isn't new because you re-post it with a few spelling mistakes.

i have to agree with your other post though, there sure is a large chunk of people fed up with this but still sitting in each thread helping the post counts. I don't get it. But I'm sorry friend, it's people on your side who fail to add anything to the discussion, you guys simply repost the same videos, the same blog links, the same tired BS over and over, in some cases, spamming the same video to the same thread several times, instead of actually responding. It's YOUR side that throws a hissy fit when we say, WHAT NEW EVIDENCE? And you whine that they don't post a link? Just go into ANY birther thread on the forum and you'll see, because the same level headed people trying to calmly explain to you why you are wrong, are doing so in most of the threads.

I'm 100% against censorship, but I do feel that the birther topics should be confined to their own section instead of co-opting the entire political section. I also feel the T&C the rest of us have to follow should also apply to birther topics as lately it seems they are slipping under the radar but for getting nailed for dupe posts. Some of the venom being spewed really doesn't deserve a spot on this site IMO.

But if I don't support your right to make these claims, what freedom can i possibly expect? All the OP is asking is that the same rules that apply to US apply to YOU, and for the sake of clarity, to keep the bither topics contained as NO NEW information is being presented, so no flood of new threads is needed, a section like "Japan" would also serve that purpose.

If this site expects to maintain any usability in the run up to the next election, this is a topic that needs to be addressed NOW, when it's 20 or so threads, not THEN when the entire board is on fire with this stuff and people like me looking for ACTUAL NEWS will probably move elsewhere until it dies down.

p.s.

Everyone give up making this a birther / non birther thread, this wasn't the OP's intent. Though it does highlight the exact issue the OP was bringing up.

We already have, in every damn thread, they just keep opening new ones and ignoring the old ones.

That's a bit of a useless argument considering there is a whole seperate forum for aliens and ufo's. I'm by far not asking this issue be censored...just that it be limited to one thread as that is how these forums are supposed to work.

Then make a separate forum for the "birther" threads.. There's a difference between lumping all the information into one thread, as opposed to creating a separate forum..

I think the birthers are plenty smart enough to be able to handle all the information in one thread. A seperate forum would be ideal but I think a stickied thread is a more reasonable goal, and to birthers it is a political issue and therefor on the right forum.

On the same UFO?

No and that is the problem. Duplicate threads about UFOs and almost any other topic are usually shut down before they get to 3 pages. There are many different UFO accounts but there is only one Obama.

Last week I read 5 different threads about the exact same birther video and then someone started posting a new video with the same information. Do you honestly not see this stuff?
