The idea of an organized armed revolution is ludicrous. Any organized group would surely be infiltrated and neutralized well before any actions could be taken. I think the real discussion is about Americans defending their rights and the rights of their families against those in our Government that have abandoned the US Constitution. The question as to whether or not this would require an armed defense is a very real question that each of us must answer for ourselves. TPTB can enforce tyranny with weapons and does so at will. What then are our options if we choose not to comply with tyranny.
"Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit
from revolutionists and rebels -- men and women who dare to dissent
from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, we may never confuse
honest dissent with disloyal subversion."
"They [the founders] proclaimed to all the world
the revolutionary doctrine of the divine rights of the common man.
That doctrine has ever since been the heart of the American faith."
Dwight D, Eisenhower
Burn all the Walmarts and other chain places I'd love to be able to get a Milkshake again made from real ice cream and have the leftovers poured from my glass into a tin... and have a shoe repair store on the corner to make a pair of good shoes last years instead of buying 19 pair in the same 2 year span...

I have to concur.
This country was founded out of revolution and the right of revolution has been codified in US legal code.
The federal government is well outside of its constitutional bounds and the courts are not acting to reign it back in.
I think what will eventually happen is that one or more states will begin to start nullifying federal law.
Effectively a bloodless revolution.
Once the dollar is destroyed, states will have no choice but to start dismantling the federal government by ignoring it.

Before I open this can of worms, I will say that I absolutely, unequivicably believe in the Right of Free Speech. I believe that ATS members should be able to voice opinions that are controversial and not within the boundaries of the mainstream media here. That's part of what ATS is all about. However, as an ATS member and as an indivdual, I am concerned by the amount of posts that are either directly or indirectly calling for an armed revolution here in the United States, and the inferrences towards the concept of the President meeting an untimely end. I'm not referring to average people who are fed-up with our government, corruption, and "the system". I am one of those people. But there is a certain tone with some posts, especially ones which advance the idea that something would, should or will "happen" to The President of the United States, that I find disturbing as a citizen.
ATS has been working hard lately on keeping insults, trolling, and general rude behavior towards other members to a minimum, and has in fact instituted a "No Tolerance" stance towards such behavior on other threads. However, while the Moderators don't tolerate personal insults or off-topic comments, they allow people to openly advocate armed, violent revolution and the "concept" that our duly- elected Commander in Chief be assassinated. In my opinion, this is inconsistent with, if not the letter, the spirit of ATS Terms and Conditions.
You can't call another member an idiot, but you can call for armed violence and a political coup via political assassination. I'm having trouble reconciling this.
I don't want to be over-ran by the conservatives here. I know how you feel, I've been reading the threads. You won't change my opinion, and if you want to trash me personally for voicing my opinion, then go check your hypocrisy at the door. I know of course that I've opened the door to being ridiculed and such, but that doesn't matter.
It's illegal to call for the armed over-throw of our government, as well as for advancing the idea of killing the President. We are a Nation of Laws for a reason.
You don't like how the last election turned out? Become more politically active. Are all politicians inherently corrupt? Run for office and give us someone who is honest. You don't like the current administration's legislation? Draft some legislation and present that to your elected Representatives, but please stop whining and threatening violence. At least here. Say whatever you want down in your bunker or in the church parking lot.
If anyone else here feels the way I do about this, please speak up and lend me some support. I know there must be other people here who feel the way I do about this issue. If you disagree with me, fine, we are fellow citizens and I have thick skin. I can handle it. If you just want to trash me because I've spoken from my heart, then insert your favorite bone-cutting insult here and apply it to yourself.
I'm curious about how the Mods and even SkepticOverlord feel about what I've said. Please feel free to jump in.

Very true. Unfortunately, the Wal-Mart generation can't see this and, like those who fall prey to the lies of the Rs and Ds, will only aid in the perpetuation of the problem.
I know my friend it does seem like sticking ones finger in the proverbial dyke and hoping to stop the flood.
Once upon a time before there was ‘Hope and Change’ there were the buzzwords “Power to the People”.
The people have to slowly and painstakingly reminded that the power ultimately does rest with them, to either cede away to those who will do with it what they will, or to take personal responsibility for.
I grew up in an America where you bought American goods, and you didn’t cross picket lines, and you looked to buy local and have a personal relationship with those merchants you purchased locally from.
It was a much more prosperous America as a result of those prudent efforts and disciplines.
Somewhere along the line in the multi-media blitz, the me generation, the on-demand internet age, people have come to believe that their individual actions have no collective impact or power.
But the reality is that they do, people keep looking for saviors in the form of politicians and icons, but the reality is you just have to look in the mirror, and use your own brain and stop and think a bit about the impact of your own actions.
That’s the message that should be preached instead of revolution, for the reality is half the people who preach revolution are personally responsible for the status quo they want to rebel against.
We don’t need more government we need to learn how to truly wisely govern ourselves. Ultimately even a Nanny State can’t do that, only we as individuals can do that.

What planet are you on? Are you that oblivious to the dire straits your country is in and how the rest of the world mainly views you? Europeans, Australians and Asians laugh at the insular naivety of blind patriots like you. Your country and your brethren are being made a laughing stock of by it’s government as your leaders wage unjust and illegal occupation of militarily weaker countries all in the name of the monopolization of resources. It’s complete and utter compartmentalization and hypocrisy. Are you kidding me? You’re nothing but the bastard (not profane – literal) offspring off your European forefathers! You are not indigenous to your land! America is just over 200 years young and I doubt it will stand as you know it in a century’s time. Can you honestly not see the trajectory of your own country? It’s going to be left in the smoldering debris and antiquated history books as just another corrupt maniacal expansive militant nation like the Nazi Germany (I am not saying that Americans are Nazi’s)! You’re economy is screwed! You’re land is being privatized! A food crisis is just lurking around the corner! Where is this great country you’re rambling on about?
So, you have blind allegiance to you ‘Commander in Chief’ no matter what crimes he and his ‘ilk’ are accountable for? Sweet Mary mother of God I’m not even going to touch this one because my head will explode. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
You’ll fight to the death for that man’s protection but turn a blind eye to the subsequent generational suffering as a direct result of the implementations during his term? GREAT JOB ON PROTECTING EACH OTHER DURING HURRICANE KATRINA AND AN EVEN BETTER JOB ON PURSUING THE 911 INQUIRY BECAUSE CLEARLY THE REST OF US i.e. THE WORLD LOOKING ON, WHO WITNESSED YE DO VIRTUALLY NOTHING TO ANY REQUIRED EFFECT AT ALL MUST HAVE GOT IT ALL WRONG!
Continue dry humping your stars and stripes but I guarantee you’ll do a complete 180 on your convictions before the day you die for the ramifications of the exercises of the leader you so blindly advocate will come into fruition within your lifetime.[edit on 2-1-2010 by rexusdiablos]
