Yeah I hate Trump...

I don't hate him... but I don't like him either.

But It's not his sons fault that his dad is a douche.

It sure isn't!

Poor boy, it must have been really traumatising the image is pretty sick and I don't see how it achieves anything other than pissing people off.

I don't see any good that can come of this either. Sometimes snark and outrageousness have their place, and can make a point like nothing else can. But I don't see it in this case. I doubt it even occurred to KG the effect it might have on the children (and grandchildren) of the president, so I won't fault her for knowingly and deliberately doing so. But it's definitely a lesson for us all to remember -- even those who don't care or don't believe it, at least they will know there will be a backlash from those who do, and may well reconsider for their own benefit.

I also don't find it that funny but if you advocate freedom of speech and artistic expression however deplorable that may be then you have to accept that stuff like this exists.

Like I've always told my kids, we have every right to be biggest **jerk** we want to be... and others have every right to react accordingly. I don't want KG in jail. I really want her to get help I strongly suspect she needs. This can and should be handled in the court of public opinion, and let the chips fall where they may.

This is not art, nor is this funny. Regardless, who it´s supposed to be. Just shows how bat# crazy some of those figures are. Disgusting.

Where is media censorship when you need it?

This "art" is an act of terror or should be treated as a death threat.

I recommend jail time or mental health imprisonment for this sick act. No free speech like this should be tolerated, especially against US president.

I found this story to be utterly disgusting and that woman should be ashamed of herself

She didn't even apologize to the President or his family. And I guess we were supposed to believe she felt *really bad* seeing as she taped that apology sans makeup and hair styling.

She's an ass of epic proportions and I hope she has lost her career for this as she deserves at least that much.

None of us knows what effect this had on Barron. Children react to things very differently and it doesn't take that much to traumatize a child for life.

I have one son. These days he's 6'3" of A-type pure American male. Those of you who are hardcore hunting enthusiasts and watch networks like Outdoor Channel have probably seen my son in hunting shows on a few occasions. He has also won numerous awards for target shooting of various kinds (including tactical) and been on TV for that too (sorry, no idea where -- he usually just gives me a DVD...).

He's tougher, faster, stronger, and more deadly than I have ever been.

That being said, it wasn't that long ago that he was 11 years old. Just a sweet, funny, happy-go-lucky blond-haired blue-eyed angel doted upon by loving parents.

To this day, I know him better than he knows himself, and am quite certain that if at 11 years old, he would have seen a photo of some lunatic holding a very realistic likeness of my blood-soaked severed head, it would have scarred him deeply.

Exposure to violent video games, TV violence, etc., is meaningless. It does not mitigate the horror a child would experience if even for one moment they thought their own parent had been horrifically killed.

Some of the posts here trying to justify this act of savagery, or make light of the impact it had on Barron, are truly disgusting.

I am not talking about cases of rape.

I'm talking consensual intercourse between 2 minors.

5.6% of children report their first bout of intercourse occurring at age 12 or earlier.

recapp.etr.org...

Unfortunately, the link does not state what percentage was "consensual;" but regardless, most teens and no tweens are mentally/emotionally equipped to make that choice.

This is actually drastically lower than it was in the 90s and early 2000s.. which then I think was up around 10%

Well, I can be thankful for that!!!

I get that you are saying everyone raised their kids differently.

But I think it is YOU who are losing touch with your 11 year old self.

Maybe... but I don't think so...

At 11 years old, I was still playing "Alias Smith and Jones" and having dirt clod fights and stealing my mom's sheets and towels to play "house" in the yard.

At 11 years old, my son was stealing my sheets and blankets to make forts and secret clubhouses -- when he wasn't shooting hoops or tormenting his sister.

Do you remember the conversations you had on the playground with friends? Do you remember all the things said?

I remember my sister and I making up a pretend language that we "spoke" to each other in front of others... yeah, we were brats!

Remember in schools at recess you have 8th graders on the same field as 6th graders.

Not at my school... we were K to 6; and not at my kids' school... they were K to 5. But at my husband's (Catholic) school, yes, they were K to 8. It didn't work out very well for them.

I remember in second grade.. a very large groupmof kids on the playground would play "Jerry Springer".. one person would be Jerry.. And other ppl sat down and had made up baby momma drama and cheating etc... And they would fake fight.. And do a whole fake show.. just as vulgar and crazy as the actual Jerry Springer show.. in 2nd grade...

That shocks me. And it never would have happened at my school or my kids' school. Recess was organized and structured by the adults -- not a free-for-all for kids.

My kids were in high school when we had our "Jerry Springer Summer" -- and we watched Jerry Springer together every day because I knew they were at an age where they would be exposed to more and more... um... deviant behavior, and I figured I'd better get the jump on it. We had some very interesting -- and sometimes hilarious! -- discussions that summer. But I was happy to find that my kids always knew who the freaks were and why.

Barron did not think that was real

I actually hope you're right. I would be very happy to find out he wasn't traumatized by this sorry event. But I'm not going to close my mind -- or my heart -- to the very real possibility that it did happen.

I'm not sure I buy that story either. I just hope Mr. and Mrs. Trump aren't exploiting their son in this instance. If, in fact, he did see this image on television, and he recognized it as resembling his father, that must have been a horrible moment for him.

"No" to the censorship part, but this is absolutely an act of political terrorism.

The free marketplace has already punished Ms. Griffin in the form of ending her career.

Ask Michael Richards how well his career has gone since hurling racial slurs at hecklers during one of his performances over a decade ago...

I would bet good money that there will be 2 outcomes for de-Kathy-tation Griffin when the dust settles:

Her career as she's known it -- mostly casino and club performances, periodic TV news appearances, and the rare sitcom gig, is over. She's out of the business.

But the Alt-Left will make her a hero. She will pop up from time to time as a "victim" of "right-wing" hate and probably do fairly well on the speaking tour.

I've been curious as to how many of the oh so disturbed they can't even look at the image crowd enjoy shows like thrones and sons of anarchy.

I can speak only for myself, but I avoid all gore and violence like the plague. I watch very little TV/movies for that very reason. My kids used to get a kick out of watching me instead of the show because they knew I would flinch and gasp and physically react in all kinds of ways. And I do. If I see someone get shot in the heart, my chest hurts. If someone gets bonked on the head, my head hurts. My husband knows I'll have nightmares for weeks -- months -- afterwards.

Thank you for adding that.

It's impossible to overestimate the potential short-term and long-term impact of that initial shock and horror and terror on a child who does not have the thought processes and reasoning abilities to properly understand the event. I truly hope it did not happen, but it could have.

Do we know for a fact that young Trump was exposed to this grotesque photo? Or is it possible that scenario is just being used to further emotionalize what is already an unforgivable and truly stupid act?

Right on.

I rarely speak about it, and I'm not going into detail now, but I witnessed my mother being killed in an horrific manner when I was 11. That absolutely scarred me for life. It fundamentally changed me.

And while I have lived a good life since then, and am certainly in no position to complain at this point, without a doubt, it is a different life than I was supposed to live.

For example, while I have ZERO fear of death personally, I have always had an over-exaggerated fear of losing those close to me. It's hard to describe how deeply and profoundly that affects your relationships.

Certain images once seen cannot be unseen no matter how hard we try. I have no doubt that Barron will never "unsee" that horrific image.

When he's older, he'll laugh about it. But he will never forget it...

So because they had to suffer---it's okay with you that others will suffer or have suffered. Where is your compassion? What happened to common decency? Did you miss the lessons about doing unto others as you have them do unto you? I am sincerely thankful that I don't live in your world.

I'm so very sorry to hear that. I can only imagine the hell that has been for you. This situation with Barron must have touched you on a very profound -- and painful -- level and yet your response is among the most reasonable and balanced. You have my respect.

A) Kathy Griffith is hard to watch or listen to with or without her holding a rubber bloody head of Donald Trump.

B) Crappy stunt...Glad she apologized, but honestly didn't watch her before and still wont. She is the reason I can't watch CNNs New Years..

C) WTF station was Barron Trump left watching where they showed the image? Local news has been reluctant to show it. I think CNN initially showed it, but then stopped. My question is...why is an 11 year being put in front of the news without supervision in the first place? Sure the image is scary to an 11 year old...but so is a ton of other crazy stuff the news talks about.

What was he watching?
