That is one way to sum it up...and again, not helpful to us.

It's strictly the US and allied reaction to this and...well? Like you note there for a distinct lack of violence ..as in combat.. to justify the sense of urgency and immediacy they're pushing. It's not Kuwait where Iraq was literally raping the vaults and people alike to strip the place bare for transfer North. Nothing like that. I don't care for it all, but I'm not even sure how much either of the two main powers had to do with it. The US and Russia both have, but how much and far?

I think the whole reaction like it's really burning down over there in a true 1990/Kuwait City type conflagration is what needs some cold water doused across it.

Oh.. but it hasn't been too urgent for the President to put off perpetual campaign mode, I had noticed. Out stumping for part of the day on minimum wage issues. Very mixed messages...and THAT is very bad, IMO.

well i cant say 100% he's safe but still dont have any bad news till now he's living near the border with Poland. You know he got a wife ... a job ... so sometime he may need to be out in the Jungle !

The reports of both protesters and police being shot with the same kind of bullet from "snipers", as well as rumors of it ordered from someone in the newly installed Ukraine government. It makes me think "Europe Spring", but when I watched Putin's interview the other night he kind of confirmed that for me.

I also watched video of the "snipers" attacking the protesters, and that raised even more questions for me. The protesters, even though under heavy sniper fire keep advancing. These people were obviously geared up for a fight with helmets and shields, but I am suggesting that they are not civilians. This isn't Bob from the pizza bar or Dave the local butcher, in the video a man lies dead and is largely ignored by his fellow protesters. Maybe I am wrong, perhaps these people are patriots willing to lay down their own life for the greater good.

They were discussing rumors not facts and in fact he never spoke to the doctor this was a claim.

The Telegraph claims to have subsequently spoken with Ms Bogomolets, who reportedly said she only treated protesters on the day of shooting, adding 'I do not know the type of wounds suffered by military people'.

So if she only treated protesters she would have no way to compare wounds of the police officers would she?

She went on to deny Mr Paet's assertion that an opposition figure was behind the Kiev massacre, the newspaper reported.

‘I think you can only say something like this on the basis of fact," she said. "Its not correct and its not good to do this. It should be based on fact,’ she is quoted as saying.

Though if i were Estonia id be pretty ticked since this showed up on RT yesterday before anywhere meaning the Russians are tapping there phones.

If you read back through the last 130+ pages of this particular thread you will find that most of us are actually anti-war.
Most of us smell a rat, what is happening here isn't normal and hasn't been from the start. Is it as Western back Europe Spring? or is it Putin clutching on to the remains of Russia's former glory? You obviously took the time to join ATS, what is your opinion on all of this that is going on?

This thread is merely keeping track of developments no doom porn but if you read it instead of of coming in making baseless comments you would know that. In case you havnt noticed its called a current event and people are interested in what the results might be. But thanks for sharing your opinion you can move along now unless you actually want to report some news.

Welcome to ATS. I disagree with you new member. This is not a doom porn thread. It is a discussion thread of breaking news in a world event.

Please, do tell us, what are your thoughts on all the data presented here. It obviously stirred something in you causing you to make a membership and post. May we please have your input on the thread topic, other than your chastising of us.

Yeah it was a stupid post of me to make. But as far as im concerned, Russia hasnt declared war on Ukraine right? I am being willfully ignorant on this subject because in the back of my mind nothings going to happen and its Iran a few years ago.

Maybe the US is backing the coup/revolution whatever it is so Ukraine can join the EU? This way NATO can put missile silos right next to Russia?

All of this stinks of Banksters all over it. They're always starting revolutions or coups to further their goals.

Ive been looking for a cause this isnt that cut and dry usually every major even has one incident that was the spark, but in this instance its not there its very strange. Multiple things just converged to cause this any one of which could have stopped it. See people were on the streets in the first place complaining about the coruption of the president there was documents being released. They were showing he was taking kickbacks and embezzling at fist they were nothing more than rumors. And to be honest he could have survived the accusations by saying there fake and its all just garbage. But he didnt do that he panicked and decided to make the protesters leave using force. This made things worse it galvanized the protesters and gave them the feeling they were fighting for a cause.

By this point in order to calm the protesters there parliament said they will investigate the charges you know they assumed they would find nothing. Than people started dying this motivated them to work faster and than they discovered he indeed had been stealing money at this point Viktor Yanukovych goes into hiding. The parliament standing there going where did he go? So they realized he was running they immediately take a vote to remove him from the presidency and have him arrested. This included members of his own party as well so trust me this isnt easy to get that kind of agreement must have been lots of evidence. Than they look into the deaths and his orders to the police to use force they vote to have him tried at the Hague for war crimes. Viktor Yanukovych at this point is still on the run rumors is hes heading for Crimea odds are he just went straight to Russia. Now the parliament is sitting there with no president so they take the next step they vote to apoint one temporarily until thae can hold a national election.

Then we move on and Russian troops are poping up all over Crimea. There is so many points this could have just completely gone in another direction that there doesnt seem to be one point you can say thats what caused this other than Viktor Yanukovych being a scum bag.

Not to derail the thread, but on the note of propaganda, there are reports of Russia paying people to stir up trouble promote Russian interest.
Just came across this article where they allege that 1 woman has been parading as 5 different characters all pushing for a Russian takeover.

However, many social network users were quick to notice that the 'housewife' bears an uncanny resemblance to several other women interviewed - prompting accusations that she is an actress hired to sow discord in Ukraine and stoke pro-Moscow groups to incite people against the Kiev authorities.

Also:

Ukrainians have accused Russia of paying hired hecklers to stir up dissent or occupy government buildings.

Yes, it has certainly been a mess and the propaganda from all sides has been hard to see through.
But an already unstable social/political climate is just what the US and friends look for to make their own gains and is no secret.
As for Russia, they could have easily gone in as UN Peacekeepers and the fact that they didn't tells me Putin also has his own agenda. Leaving Ukraine in the middle to suffer and not be in real control of it's own future.
