It's sex. There are plenty of ways to dominate or control somebody that don't involve sex, but rapists choose to commit a SEXUAL crime. Why? Has any serial rapist ever turned out to be a successful man who gets plenty of (you know what) in his personal life? Not that I have ever heard. Why not offer sexually deprived men a legal and safe avenue for their appetites?edit on 7/24/2012 by OrphenFire because: (no reason given)

Whoever is selling you this idea that rape occurs primarily because a guy can't secure himself some vagina is lying to you.

If radical feminists were for truly for a "woman's right to choose" they would want prostitution to be legal. They are really a bunch of bull#. Legal prostitution would give the woman full control over her own body.

I'm a registered Republican, but these days I believe very little in the party. I'm also a spiritual man, but I've abandoned Christianity because so much of it just doesn't make any sense.
There are monogamous species in the world, like Penguins or Eagles, but those species do not have laws, or religions, or morals dictating they are the way they are, they are instinctively that way. Humans are not.
Why do we create restrictions that set us up for failure? Why do we enter into agreements that are almost impossible to abide by, and often lead to destructive ends? Is it Disney movies fault? Religion's fault? Even the Priests can't stick to their vows, and they end up ruining lives because they failed at something they should never have promised in the first place.
Surely we can agree that it would be much healthier for a priest to hire a prostitute instead of molesting an altar boy?
I just don't understand the whole concept of repressing our sexual desires to the point that we will rape and kill over them?

Awesome news.
They should legalize all prostituion world wide. Who are you, or anybody for that matter to tell me that I can't have sex for money?
Besides, the human trafficking, drug prostitution and all of that nasty underground crap would cease to exist in most cases because women and men could work out of their own homes, safely and without fear of being thrown in jail.
So all of those stating that sex traffickers would be happy, they would not be. This is the sort of thing that kills their business. No need to deal with criminals when you can just do it legally.

It's a great idea. We all know what happens when you prohibit certain activities.
People endeavor to do them anyway and the ramifications are huge.
No regulation leads to disease
Courts and prisons become crowded
Local governments lose revenue
These are only a few of the results of underground or black market sales of outlawed product.
Prohibition failed
The war on drugs is an epic failure, and illegal prostitution is a failure.
While prostitution is a disgusting idea to me, it shouldn't matter what my opinion is. The fact is that sex sells and people are going to pay for it no matter what we do. Wouldn't it make more sense to regulate it and at least receive revenues from it? It's a billion dollar industry like Marijuana or alcohol & tobacco.
The more activities we make illegal, the more those activities flourish for private criminals. Remove the criminal element and apply saftey regulations and you have a winner.
