First from my understanding Arizona didn't just make up laws, they chose to make themselves able to enforce the federal laws that were already on the books. I could be wrong

If you don't even know what the Arizona laws says...why in the hell are you trying to argue in favor of it???

Please go educate yourself first and then come back when you can comment intelligently about something you have done research on.

Yes thats your argument. I didnt say I didnt know what was in it. My point was I had not set and taken the time to compare it word for word to the federal law. Stop trying to be the internet tough guy for a second because your not. Your just some punk that likes to argue. I never said I knew nothing about it but I am damn sure not going to say I know it word for word around you because you will try to throw it in my face later. You need to get a grip.. Seriously.

Every law is enforced.

Priorities are set and situational discretion is used to determine what investigations should go forward.

Your double speak is very bad.
If every law is to be enforced, then why did 0bama just last week say certain laws won't be?
I do believe that AZ was just told not to call DHS/ICE, as they will not respond.

SO......Selective Enforcement. No matter how you try to spin it. Even other ATS'ers see what you are doing.

Oh geez, let me guess? Your google-fu has told you otherwise?

Tell me...are charges ever dropped...even when a law was actually broken in local law
enforcement???

Sure, when the process was not followed, or a number of other things.

Does that mean the local law enforcement isn't doing their jobs...or are they just focusing their resources to what they determine are the more important issues???

Ah,, I see the nature of this statement. You are trying to lay ground work in defense of selective enforcement of lower level laws.

You are SOOOO transparent.

I see Scalia's remarks as out of line and him abusing his position.

That's right, In the US people are not allowed to give their opinion.

He is free to give his personal opinion as a citizen.

But he used his position to give his opinion.

However...his angry remarks are actually giving me hope that maybe he is releaseing his frustrations over being defeated...maybe even in the healthcare decision.

Where do you get that bull crap? Stop trying to make yourself and others like you the marter. EVERY LAST ONE of us that are for strict immigration have said we also support them going after the employer. Both are at fault though, not just the employer. You can stop lying now. Seriously.

You speak for everyone now???

Tell me this...why aren't you angry at Arizona for not focusing more on the employers...since that is something that is 100% within their power to do...instead of trying to trump Federal law that they knew was going to be struck down???

Instead...you direct your anger at Obama...who is actually doing more than previous administrations to deport illegals and doing more to put more border patrol agents and adding drones to patrol.

It really seems like you and others are just ignorant to the facts.

No we are ignorant to the "facts" as you perceive them but if there is one thing I have learned on this board so far is that you speak for the vast minority so therefore I must understand the "facts" the way the majority understands them and I am good with that. Now to your point of why Arizona isnt focusing more on the employers. I will re post the same link as above. I think having a business license revoked is pretty bad and this took just a quick second to find. But thanks for the name calling. Most of us must just be ignorant.

What is it with Liberals, where you think you have some secret insight to others hearts?
Man you sure think very highly of yourself.

How about the idea that this is a gimmie to 0bama for striking down the Unconstitutional Health Care crap?

But for got sakes stop playing your broken record saying we need to go after the companies. WE ARE!!!!!

Not nearly hard enough.

By the way when is the last time a politician or any authority blasted employers who hire illegals? I don't think I've ever heard such. All I ever hear is "Damn Mexicans taking our jobs" or "Illegals taking jobs out from under Americans". Well, it wouldn't be a problem if those "damn cheap skate employers" would only hire Americans.

Its a lot harder for them to pass legislation attacking American citizens that also hire legal workers. Taking someones business license or putting them in jail or even a hefty fine could mean job losses for "Legal" workers as well as the illegals. Its not always cut and dry. Yes they need to stiffen the penalties and they have started to but right now its a start. But ignoring the illegals doesn't help the situation either.

WOW, talk about SELECTIVE enforcement.

Fed Govt will serve these States, but those States, nah, they made 0bama mad. They won't even get through the secretary.

Yeah, the Fed surely is working with them.

We are so divided as a nation that people are massively starring posts which they agree with, regardless of validity.

This is a massive problem for ATS.
Outcast showed facts about the current administration deporting more violent illegals etc....
& the post which claimed otherwise, and proven to be nothing more than a lie, was starred by those who just dislike Obama.

Regardless of your thoughts on the issue, we have to think for a moment. Where the hell are we headed when we blindly agree with those who we know are wrong just because we are conditioned to do so. The federal powers win that way. This place needs more critical thought and less blind partisan bickering.

We are all guilty of it from time to time, but the beginning of this thread really hit home.
Even if you dislike a politician, you can't dismiss something they've done because you have mentally painted them a different way.

I would place money on the educated guess that employers that hire illegals don't hire legals. And even if so, so what? Make room for someone who is willing to follow the law.

ETA By no means am I saying ignore illegals, but I don't think it's right to demonize them. I would be all for open borders but at this time it just isn't within the means of the US to do so. I would prefer US foreign policy with Mexico to reflect better on the needs of the Mexican people than aiding corruption but alas we're too busy wanting to chase boogey men than demanding effectiveness out of government.

They sure do. It is a mixed bag.
Some of the Big Dairy Farms in AZ hired both, and knowingly and unknowingly.
When the HR department is provided fake documents, using actual SSN, they hire.
But, they also hire those for Temp work, Paying cash.

It is a 1-2 punch needed.

Stop the ILLEGALS invading, and punish the companies that knowingly hire.

All this seems to work out to some fairly simple conclusions:
1. The Left does not really recognize national borders.
2. The Left does not believe in enforcing standing laws it finds inconvenient.
3. The Left screams "racism" at the drop of a hat. The Left has robbed the word of ALL meaning.

As a result, many, many people no longer care if they are called "racist" because they think so very little of the accusers. Acually, I think absolutely nothing of them at all.

I do see a bright ray of sunshine to all of this. A previous poster was right in that eventually, the "several states" will have had enough, and reclaim their rights under the constitution. This will happen because, in the US at least, the Left's skills involve singing and demonstrating. The Right's skills involve knowing which end of the tube a round comes out of. Financial tip: invest in backhoes!

7.62mm. 2400fps. A vote they can't miscount.

Well Hoorah for fascism!!!

States have their own sovereign rights, and maybe. maybe had Holder and Obama let Arizonia secure their own borders Brian Terry would still be alive today, and maybe 50 thousand Mexican nationals would still be alive today.

Arizonia left to secure it's own border guns flowing down south would not have.

Chalk this up to a leftist win so they can secure the largest voting block in the country, and create instability in the region so that more migrate North to escape.

Job well done.

Oh please don't even bring that Left blah blah crap in here, it's lazy. I think I've seen one person bring race into it? Not to mention there is no Left in politics or government in America. If you wanted to look at Left/Right as a pair of hands, Liberals would be the left digit of the Right hand.

This is just happening so details are still coming out.

I am hearing conflicting reports as to which parts were struck down and which have been upheld...but it sounds like 3 of 4 of the key parts have been outright struck down.

Here is a link to the ruling...it's all legal talk so I don't know exactly what it says.
www.supremecourt.gov...

More details coming soon.

Illegal immigration is... illegal. That means that it is against the laws of the United States of America, and that you have no right to be here, at all. So the State of Arizona has the right to know if you are a criminal immigrant and then report that to the United States government who, should be enforcing the laws and not breaking them as this current administration is doing.

So tid bits were struck down, but the core remains upheld. Unlike Obahmnercare which is so totally going down.

So true. I grew up in the 60's and I can tell you that this has happened when they were all young drug addicted teen socialists. And we all knew that they would take us to where we are now. It's a long road back, but it can still be done. They still think they live in the 60's, I can tell.

If you are driving a vehicle and violate a traffic law then yes, it is okay for a cop to ask for your driver's license so that he/she may write up a ticket. Driving is a privilege not a right.

It is not okay to stop people doing anything such as walking on a sidewalk because they look "illegal" and ask for their birth certificate, immigration papers what have you. That is Fascist.

LOL, had no doubt the madness in Arizona that was this bill, wouldn't hold water. Looks like that hag Jan Brewer is going to have to try again.

Yes because keeping out illegals is just madness? The states should be able to do whatever they deem necessary to keep out illegals if the federal government is going to sit back and do nothing and that is what is going on here. The state of Arizona took matters into its own hands because the federal government wasnt doing its job and now instead of them doing their jobs they would rather waste our tax dollars having the supreme court look at it.

Alienating a good portion of legal citizens in that crap bill they drafted is the madness I was speaking about, but of course most white people don't understand this. They want to cut the influx of illegals go after the people that are employing them don't create a bill that forms a witch hunt scenario for a good fraction of your legal citizens.
