The US is Global power. Many of those intervention were done by request. Which you have left out. The remainder were the US looking out for it's best interests. Just like any other country including Iran has. The problem comes when the two are in direct conflict with each other.

Fact of the matter still remains is that US still choose a side and intervened in over 100+ different areas and caused untold death and destruction regardless if it was for request or not. It is called bullying
