This is the world we live in today. I basically have no problem with other peoples ways of life as long as long as there views are not inflicted upon me im a live and let live type of person. The problem i do have however is the complete lack of respect for the young children in society they have lost there carefree childhood innoscence far to young. I really pisses me off when in the afternoon condom commericals come on and im in the room with my eleven year old son. I was very bothered when he came home from school and asked me if i knew it was national condom week i mean what the hell. when my daughter was in first grade and the school had a drug awareness program she came home and asked me if i was pot smoker and told me what was happening to my brain if i was. In third grade the school had the first sex education lesson third grade what the hell. As a parent i feel it should be my responsibility to decide when my child is ready to know such things. No matter how hard you try its all around them. Even if you dont let them watch these shows they can view them on a friends compuer. Once the other children are talking about these things that happen in the shows its a natual curosity to want ot see them. We really have become a society with no morals. Gone are the carefree childhold days robbed from them by media and the people who think they know whats in there best interest thats the same people who freely hand out condoms to 5th graders in school.

You have no idea how much I agree with you. Except the part about it being less easy to stomach when it's two guys. That's just conditioning from our previous generations and I honestly don't think they knew better. Even I sometimes catch myself feeling that way about it and I'm gay.

The thing is, I have not gone through hell on earth because of it, learned to be bigger, stronger, better at sports and everything my father wanted from a son to then be told 'sorry, still not good enough', by the dreggs of society that cannot drag themselves out of the dark ages.

I am sincerely sorry if I offended you by jumping the gun. You can imagine though, if it such a hot issue with so many who aren't gay - it's an explosive one for me.

never said there was anything wrong with being gay. i have close friends who are gay. i'm talking about how just blaring they were with gay boys being sexual on public tv. my gf actually turned the tv near the end cuz it was disturbing to see...
Haha. And if it was a male and a female dry humping no one would bat an eyelid. But when it's two guys you're like "omfg, they are holding hands and looking into each others eyes". LOL.

yeah. i can imagine. i seriously have no problem with gay people. some of my closest friends are gay.

perhaps it is just social programming...but dudes kissing is still kinda gross to me. no offense. women...are way more appealing than men, as far as beauty. like...women are beautiful and men...are men (to me). there's nothing attractive about us. i think this is why it's more acceptable to see women kissing, even "hot" to see them kissing. where as i see men kissing and i think about all the construction workers i've worked with...all kinds of hot, sweaty, burly, hairy men, covered in grease, dirt and oil and it just is kinda gross. i guess it has more to do with the stereotype of men and women than it does the sexuality.

women are pretty...they are kinda frail (call me sexist but it's scientifically proven we are physically dominant) and meant to be held (in society's eyes). men...are rough and tough. so....rough and tough shouldn't rub up against rough and tough...it should rub up against frail and pretty...i know this sounds horrible (it is social programming). i believe you are born gay so i don't think there is something "wrong" with you cuz you're gay. i know there is nothing wrong with you!

while i do see the positive side of what glee is doing...people should be ready for glee to be "attacked". after all...it is going against the social programming of the masses. and you have to ask yourself: if "they" programmed us to be this way...why are they now trying to un-program us? know what i mean?

so please...if i offended you...i am truly sorry. there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay (not that you needed my blessing but i want you to know that it's nothing personal with me, wither) and i did not want to have anyone think that. you are you and i am me and we are we. there really isn't much difference between any of us...no matter your skin color or sexual preference or religion.

racial issues are still a big ticket...but i guess that gimmick is played out in hollywood (and tv land) so now they have to move on to newer controversial issues to get ratings!

GLEE was always pro gay. I dont think the tv will influence straight kids to be gay though. It might encourage gay kids to accept their ...um....gayness...haha. If they are already watching Glee, they have taken the first step. Congrats, OP, you are almost there. HAHA, just messin with ya.

If you think there's something gross about it then you DO have a problem with homosexuality. You made an entire post about it so it obviously got under your skin. If you didn't have a problem with it why even make a post about it?

And you don't have to "aim to make gay ok". Being gay already is ok. Its been ok a long time before you and will be ok a long time after you. People are gay. People always have been gay. People always will be gay. Deal with it.

You don't sound like a big an a** as most people but you still have some hang ups about it. And you either don't really have gay friends or you're smart enough not to tell them what you posted.

But, either way, you're not ok with people being gay. I bet you like lesbian porn though....

ok. this show GLEE...normally just annoys me (my gf makes me watch it with her). tonight...it went pretty far.

there's a couple of gay kids on the show, aiming to make gay "ok" for the younger crowd. ok...whatever. they've tackled bullying on the show...that was cool. so this show gets watched by all the kids.

tonight...they had these high school boys (played by i'm assuming adult actors) kissing. and then...fighting because one of them wanted to have sex cuz he was drunk after they used fake id's to get into 21+ gay bar and were drinking. and then, at the end of the show...shows snippits of the 2 boys' night of bliss (obviously doesn't show them bareback but it shows them laying on the ground, clothed, fire crackling in the background, holding hands, looking into each others eyes after there were several suggestions towards them having sex and this being the night they were going to have sex, so you know what they were doing in front of that fire).

while i have gay friends and don't have a problem with homosexuality...i do have a problem with high school boys being portrayed in sexual manners with each other on a show that streams into the eyeballs of the majority of teens in this county (and who knows where else).

again...this is not attacking the gay aspect of it...just the out right belligerent sexuality of it. i would have been a little uncomfortable watching some of the scenes if it were supposed to be a high school boy and girl. and again, nothing against gay men but seeing 2 dudes kiss is disgusting, to me. there's just something gross about it.

Gay sex on Glee! NO WAY!!!

But with all seriousness I do find it a little weird and gross but what can you do, its the 21st century. They should show some lesbians making out and see how many people will get offended. I knoww I'll start watching the show if there are more lesbians =D

Honestly, I dont see why, in todays society, this is a big deal. Gays are allowed to serve in military openly now. Gays are pretty much accepted in normal society now. Look at slang now. The word Gay isnt even gay anymore. I've heard kids used the term "this is so gay" meaning that something that is happening basically kind of sucks and is awkward. Kids now a days don't even really care if somebody is homosexual or not. The whole stigmatism of being homosexual is over. Why is there even a debate about it. This whole debate is gay.
edit on 9-11-2011 by remyrange because: fixed spelling error. My spelling is gay.

I'm raising a very striking looking pre-teen girl - - - going on 21.

I'd much rather she watch what Glee portrayed last night - - then any of the teen Disney programs.

So it's only 'social programming' when it's gays?

No. Its not. I love how you keep ignoring what people are actually saying. They are saying that the way the show presented it, is overboard with the fake id's and underage exposure to the drag queens. Nobody here, except maybe one guy, said anything bad about gay people, just the show. Please stop using your emotions to dictate what you say, and instead comment logically on what people are saying instead of one tiny part about a guy not being interested in seeing other guys kiss.

Do you know how many times straight sex is shown or implied on tv that is viewed by high schoolers, or depicting high schoolers.. your double standards are really funny.

As I recall on Glee one of the high school students got pregnant and had a baby. Where is your thread on that?

You mean like straight teen boys/girls getting fake IDs and going to a club. Boys often to a strip club?

It was not overboard. You are choosing to perceive it as overboard - - because to you its not normal.

My daughter at 13 used to push my car out of the driveway at night and drive to Hollywood with her fake ID. And before you go into the bad parenting - - - my other daughter was a straight laced church going Baptist. Today she's a producer - - guess those Hollywood trips paid off.

Yes - - there is definitely a double standard going on here.

Some need to open their eyes/mind - - and realize that.

Do not pretend to know what i am choosing to percieve. I have been to plenty clubs that were either exclusively gay or on gay nights. Sidewinders, Revolution, Living Room, Blue Moon, & Jonny's (which is actually almost a strip club for gay people) are all places that ive been and had no problem with the visuals of gay people kissing. Furthermore, how do you know that I do not have an issue with straight teens having fake id's? The fact of the matter is I do, if its on TV. There is a reason it is illegal and I would have an issue with anyone in highschool going to a strip club with a fake ID on tv. The movie The Girl Next Door had its funny parts but left a bad taste in my mouth when it came to the topic, and the kid was even 18. Please dont make the mistake of becoming a psychologist because you clearly judge before information is given. Tell your daughter congratulations.
