I know people like you and Neo96 have a really hard time understanding a thread NOT being about Obama. Confusing I know. This is about Michelle Bachman and her inability to function as a sane and rational human being in the face of the smallest opposition who is trying to convince us she is ready for challenges of a much greater scale.

The ability to freely enter into legal contracts is indeed a right, and as far as the State is concerned, marriage is NOTHING more than a legal contract between two individuals. For the State to try to dictate which individuals can enter said contract is a violation of their Civil Rights, and thus is a Constitutional question. This is NOT the United States of Jesus Christ, this is the United States of America, and this is a SECULAR nation! I don't give a DAMN what your religion says on the subject, ALL citizens of this country enjoy the SAME rights and freedoms REGARDLESS of whether they are religious or not! This is NOT a religious issue, it is a LEGAL issue, PERIOD!

I don't know much about gays, but I would much rather have a gay MAN in office than ANY WOMAN. When a woman becomes president, I promise to everything under the sun....I will move to Canada or Europe, because it will all be over. No they weren't. They can't help it but they aren't born that way. It drives me crazy when people say this.

So far we do not know why some people are gay.Might be born that way but we have no real eivdence.Could be a product of their environment or how they grew up.Could be DNA and might be a sin and is some kind of curse or something or the bible may be telling the truth.

Are you suggesting that gay men aren't born gay? That they're attracted to women, but choose to lay with other men for whatever reason? How do they sustain an erection if they really aren't naturally biologically wired that way? Do you think it's possible that all humans can go through sexual changes throughout their life, but all of us are heterosexual at birth?

O noes! If she can't handle a 17 year old gay guy, how is she going to handle the affairs of our country? Those sounded like very legitimate concerns that were being expressed, and I think she should have addressed them. Politicians answer to us, and if they hold a certain viewpoint, they should be able to explain why. Even if the answer is only "because I am homophobic," as is such in this case.

If your gay, your gay - so what - as long as I don't have to see it then do what you want in your own home. If you want the legal rights as a heterosexual couple then so be it. But if you bring your sexuality out into the public, then expect to be called out on it - since there is a segment of the population that doesn't approve of homosexuality.

Is that right, no - but since when has humanity been all lovely rainbows and moonbeams.


Bachmann didn't want to talk to a homosexual kid, so what is the big deal - you don't like someone, you don't talk to them......and if you don't like Bachmann's views, then don't vote for her.
