If you scream and call me names my ears will become deaf to anything you have to say.

"To become one flesh" means to have sex.

Says who? Do you have a time machine and have gone back to interview the original author? For that matter have you read the original text in the original language to ensure no translation errors have occured? And what proof do you offer to support the notion that the entire text isn't a work of fiction?

I'm also waiting for you to address what the passage really deals with, which is Jesus laying the banhammer down on divorce. Christians are getting divorced like crazy, but I haven't heard ONE of you trying to get divorce put on the illegal side of the ledger... You cannot take the high ground when the ground you stand on is based on hypocrisy... and again it matters not, because this is a secular and legal issue, not a religious one...

Sex outside of marriage is a sin in the Bible. Only a man and woman can get married therefore they are the only ones that can have sex.

You just want to argue because the word 'homosexuality' isn't used. You'll find out how wrong homosexuality is when you stand before the Judgment Throne of God and he tosses you into Hell for it. Lets see you argue semantics then.

Case closed. JaxonRoberts nails it on the head with this post.

To elucidate further:

  1. Christians practice double standards by condemning homosexual rights but condoning divorce.
  2. This is a secular issue - all religious posts are off-topic.

FYI

Your faith doesn't allow you to come to grips with what is reality. Most people won't take your "judgment throne" seriously because its based only on belief.

Are you telling us you've never practiced non-marital sex? Even if you haven't, you do realize of course that this makes anyone who has, as 'sinful' as homosexuals yet I don't see you campaigning to preclude heterosexual non-marital sex practitioners from their basic legal rights marriage.

Well according to the Bible it's okay for a man to sleep with his wife's servant (Link). It is also okay for a man to rape an unbetrothed virgin so long as he marries her after (Link). Then let's not forget the pro-polygamy stance of the Bible, especially the part where God promises David more wives if the ones he has aren't enough (Link). And hey, let's not forget what happened with Lot and his daughters (Link). So, according to the Bible I could rape my wife's many servants, who happen to be my daughters, and so long as I marry them I'm not going to Hell, but homosexuality is taboo. Does that seriously sound like the will of an ever-loving God?

I don't suppose anyone wants to bring up the fact that homosexual behavior is rampant in the animal kingdom, a fact that was brought forth to the US Supreme Court concerning this exact issue if I'm not mistaken.

Wiki:

The observation of homosexual behavior in animals can be seen as both an argument for and against the acceptance of homosexuality in humans, and has been used especially against the claim that it is a peccatum contra naturam ('sin against nature').[1] For instance, homosexuality in animals was cited in the United States Supreme Court's decision in Lawrence v. Texas which struck down the sodomy laws of 14 states.[10] Whether animal sexuality has logical, ethical, or moral implications in human sexuality is also a source of debate (see appeal to nature).[11][12][13]

There's a huge difference between being against homosexual marriage, and being against homosexuals. Bachmann and other republicans have made it clear that they are against homosexuals as people. I'm against homosexual marriage, I have nothing against homosexuals. I know a few rather closely. Marriage is between a man and a woman, end of story. Give homosexuals some sort of union so they have medical benefits, but keep marriage for men and women.
But anyways, marriage should never have been in the hands of the state to begin with.
Also, there are very good reasons not to legalize homosexual marriage, it's just the republicans don't say the good reasons. I think it's highly possible they are saying dumb, crazy stuff on purpose...
What's sad is many people actually believe in the completely whacked out stuff Bachmann and others are saying...

Why are the same people opposed to homosexuals marrying not so adamantly against atheists or other religions marrying?

Or christians who abuse their spouses?

Why is it exclusively homosexuals?

I assume the bible condemns all these things as well. I haven't heard Michelle Bachmann say much about marriage in this regard, or spousal abuse, or anything else in the vast texts of the bible, shouldn't she at least in the interest of continuity?

These people are very good at yelling and causing a scene.

Why in the world do gay people make you nervous?

These people? As opposed to all the other oppressed groups who won their equality by sitting quietly in a corner.

You do not have to,
to understand the difference..

We could get into the seven deadly sins but that is
for another thread.
The seven deadly sins will not condemn you
to hell but will send you to an early physical grave...
Over eating, being an a-hole, ect. ect.

My original post in this thread, (if you would of read it all)
I think the issue needs to be settled
in the supreme court..

This state by state is stupid!

It is like having a drivers license in one
state and not being able to drive in another
without getting a license from them...

I think their should be a NATIONAL
vote on this just like we vote for president.
Then let the supreme court uphold it or
void it..

I'm tired of this back and forth PC bull crap..

It does not matter if I am for or against.

Neither let them get married... OR DON'T!

She cannot restore God law to the US because Gods law was never part of this country in the first place. Bachmann and her pray the gay away hubby are the type people our founding fathers left Europe to get away from. It's funny you say she scares the left. When that kid confronted her SHE was the one that took off running.

Your post is very very funny,(not the lies about M.B.) but the whole attempt of this thread. NO cridible vid or news report & yet ATS allowed the thread. To me that speaks volumes about the validity of the topics posted here. Like I've said before, I visit ATS just to see what the vapid, void of thought, brainless crowd is up to, it is truly one of the best sites for humorous entertainment on the web. Hell, you dont even get a "nice try", because... again, your 2 "news sources" are not credible. Lame really really lame.

It is your opinion that anyone who is openly gay is living in sin. You believe this because you think your book says so. Not everyone believes in your book. Not everyone wants to hear about your book. This is not a website based on religious beliefs. If you want to spread the good word then do so elsewhere. Pointless debate on faith which is not fact is not the point of this thread.
