I'll admit, I don't have a clue about what "DeltaCom" is, except that it sounds very, very 80s. This reminds me of those adventure books where you choose an option, turn to that page, and the story changes. Incidentally, I, myself, had a family member that "disappeared" for a time. He was at Grissom AFB, and though he was only a few blocks away from his house, he didn't come home for almost a year.

Of course, I don't believe he was on the base the entire time. . .but you never know. DeltaCom. Those pictures are a little ummm Velveeta for my taste.

But, I will flag this to make sure some other ATSers get a look, hahaha.

As for his writing being atrocious- as an ex-executive secretary for senior presidents and vips at several fortune 500 companies- i can attest that alot of the people in those positions are morons. Literally. Whether its lacking common sense or just how to write a paragraph correctly. It amazes me how these kinds of people get so far in their career.

If this were black-ops there is no way that they would have a secretary write the standard "dear john" letter. He would of written it personally and signed it personally which could be the reason why the signature on the Nasa letter is different style than the Nasa letter on the Nasa website. Because he physically signed the one that the OP has.

So- OP. What does your signature on your letter look like? Computer generated or hand signed?

Fakest, letter, EVER. I refuse to believe this was written by anyone in any professional administrative position.

"cannot go into specifics?" please. Why would this phrase be employed post stating "we must retain secrecy," its a bit repetitive, no? wheres the law/statute or any type of codification that states the reason said information is classified? why does that term not appear once in this letter- it is the appropriate term, a govt agency doesnt used the term secret, usually, unless referring to "official state secrets" acts and what not.

Beginning a paragraph with "the rest of his family"? no way that came from NASA.

but the first sentence takes the cake "It is to our regret" LOL! that's the least properly stated regret EVER. The colloquialism is "It is with regret we inform" or "it is our regret to inform." COME ON people.

but why bother reading the letter and picking apart english that was written by a bored teenager or dim-witted adult (both with too much free time). Why would any agency or company provide notice of "presumed death" (also laughable) to any but a SPOUSE or NEXT OF KIN. Come on dude. if your gonna hoax ATS, at least pretend to be the nasa guys dad.

I demand, from now on, that all scams perpetrated upon this site at least measure up to some amount of technical difficulty, historically accurate complexity, at least some high degree of wit, not this garbage.

And if this is all really true, I'm sorry kiddo, your uncle died and nobody wants to tell you, probably out of pity. You remember how fido went off to live on a farm?

ya, fido's dead too.

Hey folks,

I've been intrigued by this thread throughout all 8 pages. However, one thing does concern me. The signatures on the respective letters that were posted. Many said that they are similar, and I disagree. While I am no handwriting expert, I did take a handwriting analysis course in college as part of an elective program in psychology...I found the stuff fascinating. Here is a picture of some quick differences in the two signatures.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/247a5813bac4.jpg[/atsimg]

If you notice, the structures of the the letter "L" from the first handwriting sample to the next one are shaped differently and curl differently. I know that when I sign signatures, most of my structures stay the same. The next glaring inconsistency was in the periods after the "D" in his abbreviated middle name. There are two periods in the second handwriting sample, while there is only one in the first. The first also looks to be hastily scribbled on the page while the second one looks as if more time and care was taken to write it out. Whether or not that adds to the intrigue of this thread is up to the readers, but I for one found it very interesting that on the "official" document that the handwriting sample was garbage, while someone took the time to carefully write out the name on the second one. The curls on the letter "M" are also very different in shape. The last thing I noticed (on very quick inspection....less than 10 minutes, and trying to rack my brain from an undergrad elective course I took over 5 years ago) was the curls on the letter "G." The shapes are completely different. Once again, one looks very hastily scribbled while the other one looks more carefully planned out. What I'm getting to is this: one poster commented on the fact that perhaps the letter "sent" to the OP was actually personally written by this administrator (in some circles it is a well-known fact that some scientists in this particular field don't pay as much attention to grammar detail as they do with research). Perhaps with a letter carrying this type of weight, more time was put into carefully writing out a signature, while the "official document" was probably part of regular correspondence and therefore the signature was quickly scribbled. I don't really know myself. I'm interested so far, but I thought I would add my two cents to the discussion of the signatures. Take it for what it's worth.

Peace be with you.

anyone else see the little 'creature' figure in the bottom left of the 2nd image (with the 'craft')? lol
But on a serious note;
the bright light on the surface in image2 does it look like a river of sorts ? why does the rest of the hills not have the glare from the looks of the lightsource ?

Image 1 - can see a delay in the shutter speed by the star-trails...

I've been following this thread with considerable interest.

Regarding the letter from the NASA administrator, I'll have to admt that the phrasing and/or wording is not the polished professional prose that one would expect from a NASA administrator. However the signature does seem to match the other letter that has been posted here even though the style is completely different.

The thought occurs to me that, if this is true, it is possible that the original letter was personally written by the administrator rather than having been written by a secretary/assistant who would have rendered a more polished "official" letter. If a program was as highly classified as something of this magnatude would most certainly be, it is entirely possible that none of the clerical staff had been read into the program and thus would not be entrusted with the names of persons involved or even the existance of the program or the "accident". All conjecture on my part to be sure, but it sure would be interesting to see an examplar of this administrators personal writings for comparison.

I shall continue to monitor this thread for developments. Thank you for sharing, Frodo, and I hope that this can be resolved for the sake of the family and yourself. Keep digging. This could be bigger than any of us know.

Curiouser and curiouser........

I agree. It very well could be a real letter for the above quoted reason. When I was in the Air Force as a PA, we would write official letters on behalf of Generals and other higher ups all the time. They would read it and approve it. We would also sometimes electronically add their signature we scanned in from a previous letter. (It could've been done in this letter if it was faked).
However whenever a higher up wanted to write their own personal letter, they would often do a terrible job, using awful gramar and making silly mistakes. Often, they would be too proud to allow PA input. After all they had a bachelors or a PHD and to them I was just an enlisted (even though I was trained to make them look smart by knowing how to write for them.) The letters sent out were often very poorly done like and looked like these higher ups haven't written anything since college.

He is a noob? LOL how on earth did he get the idea that ATS was the place to go for help?!?!?!

I believe ATS has entered a new phase. I'd like to call it "The ATS Ultimate Bullsh*t Challenge", where users create new accounts and use their past experience JUST TO SEE HOW FAR THEY CAN GO!

There's a good chance that may not be your uncle emailing you.
If your uncle emails you again and asks you to do something for him, don't do it.
It may be a trap and they may be trying to lure you out to get what they are looking for.

I understand your wanting to keep personal information to yourself. But, you're not only protecting yourself, you're protecting those who would want to "silence" you.

How many people that worked for NASA with "electromagnetic pulsed" thingamajigs and marketed to DeltaCom have come up missing? If more than just your uncle? Do you think you're protecting yourself from them? If any of this is true, they know who your uncle is and who you are. If anyone wanted to come after you and silence you, you gave them the green light when you posted this thread.

If it were me and I believed what you claim to believe, I'd be posting as much personal data as I could to verify my claims. Most here will treat any sensitive information with respect in an attempt to verify and validate the claims, ESPECIALLY if something were to happen to you.

I'm not saying to post this information in a reply in the open forum. But, if someone is willing to do some sleuthing in regards to background checks and dig up more information to validate your claims, it only protects you if "they" were to come after you.

Sorry to ruin all the fun...but the second set of images the OP supposedly re-downloaded and reposted for us to see the original EXIF data are also shopped images. Data in the second set of images indicate the images are real at first glance...but there is hidden meta data in the images showing they were recently modified in CS2:

Hi,

There are a few things i would like to clarify, as they don't seem to make a lot of sense

I thought he was dead, but my poor aunt kept hope that he had just disappeared.

Then what happened? she kept hope and then when he shows up again she doesn't care? I'm sorry but that's hard to believe, I've seen people look for relatives way more than 4 years, 20 or more, hoping they will turn up somewhere, and they don't give up just like that, or she didn't love him that much, which in turns leads me to ask, why did you say that she kept hope, why mention that specific detail? is it to build some emotions in the reader?

Then yesterday, everything changed. I got an email from my uncle! His old account! Here's what he said.

Daniel, it's your uncle.

You say that he was like a father to you, but if that's so, why he sounds so distant? does a father comes to you and says something like that? at least i would expect he would say his name, something more like "I'm uncle Peter" or something like that, i don't know but if someone calls me or sends me an email and says something like that i would immediately doubt he's who he says.

They don't know where i am. noone does, and i wish I could tell you where i am, but i'm not sure either.

Now this doesn't make any sense at all, they don't know where he is, nobody knows, he doesn't know, but still he is able to find internet access to send you this email? from where? he is not sure where he is, how does he knows "they" don't know where he is? obviously he is able to use a computer, how about looking up his ip address by using something like whatismyipaddress.com... which easily will take you where you are or at least will let you know enough info so that someone on the outside can locate you? this is like in some movies where instead of finishing the bad guys they start having doubts and allow him to escape and kill your best friend in the process, because you, instead of thinking fast and just killing the dude, started having second thoughts about your life and what you had for breakfast in the morning

In any case, i have some pictures. Please watch out for DeltaCOm. They're no good, and they want to take over the world.

Now this is something, so lets forget about me being lost somewhere, about nobody knowing how to get me out of here and don't question how i can survive whatever i am, or how even if nobody knows where i am and neither do i, i'm still able to access the internet and send you this mail, nevermind all those things, so anyway, here take some pics which i provide with no info at all, not even will let you know where or how i got them, just take them and somehow make sense out of them, because i can't even make sense out of my own self...

Hehe sorry about some of the stuff i posted, but really i believe people are overlooking some of the stuff and going directly to where he wants you to go, stop and go read the initial post, make sense of every sentence before moving on to something else, i believe if you question the basic stuff first, you will find out things that were hidden in plain sight, and then you don't even need to complicate your life with the rest of the stuff, does that makes sense?

In any case, i know i should probably tell you all i know, but i'm just going to say "be careful, there's someone out there to get us" and then i will disappear with no trace and will destroy your life, instead of just saying all i know at once and maybe even changing the fate of all the human race in the process... such a bad movie

Cool story Daniel... not as good as the Fishman story but cool pics.

But i do suspect you seen a Stan Kubrick film that gave you the idea and might have too much time on your hands. Good thing NASA cant find him yet HAL9000 has broadband capabilities maybe you can get him to post on ATS ?

My BS meter is going ape sh#te!

For the people that are saying, "oh, the new exif data is different!" or "The camera model can't be changed in the data!" I give you this:

It's apparently an alien life form taken from the same camera as the original pictures were. Just run it through the same exif data programs you used with the other one and you'll see.

The only reason the exif data was important to begin with is that it originally showed it has been run through a photo editing program. That is why I put the word "prove" in quotation marks in my earlier comment.

And for the people saying that the grammar isn't an indicator because they've known some higher-ups who couldn't write to save their lives... In a letter like this they will not be the one to personally write it. There would be a pre-formulated template for situations like this that is carefully written and vetted by lawyers so that they do not incriminate themselves in any way or give the family any reason to think they should sue the company.

p.s. How are you guys embedding photos that are not hosted on ats? I can't seem to get it to work and when I embed one that is hosted here, the exif data gets scrapped. I know, off topic, but I am confused, which is why I had to link to the image the way I did.

interesting....

Many of you are asking me, what are the sides and, why must I choose. Well here is your answer:

The side of capitalists; those who believe society must be governed from the top down, separating society into two separate hierarchical classes; with the workers of the world below those with the wealth. Or, the side of the universal class or the true socialists, who believe that society is to be ruled by itself, democratically by the workers. Those who believe there is only one class and that democracy and freedom can only exist if there is no top down dichotomy.

Because to not choose is to submit to the prior, to accept that you are a lesser person than the wealthy who rule you, to accept the illusion of freedom cast upon you. You must choose because there will be a revolution, and because as Edmund Burke so eloquently stated, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Engineers are not actually someone you would expect to excel in writing. Do not expect some letter written by a literary genius. So that NASA letter is just par for the course.
