On this thread i posted photographs of a Saucer landed with a landing craft full of aliens, a photograph of that landing craft at my house, a group of aliens frolicing in a collapsed above ground pool and very large aliens beside me at my gate...............All the photos are real and depict actual events. Just joined and haven't read the whole thread.

Perhaps my standard of evidence is too high, but the main reason I remain unconvinced that UFOs exist is that UFOs never appear where enough people will see them to leave the question beyond dispute, such as over the Super Bowl stadium at half-time or through a crash landing in Central Park.

It makes me sad that there are some really amazing sightings, reports and cases.. and many are talked about here. But they typically get a handful of pages, until they disappear into obscurity.

But when someone who is borderline rude and trolling, says "Omg UFOs don't exist everything is a hoax lol!".. it quickly gets.. FORTY-FOUR PAGES.

I was interested in this thread early on, but I like to read through the replies to make sure that I’m not just making the same point as someone else. I read about 8 pages of posts before I gave up. Even though the point I wanted to make hadn’t been made, I figured someone might make it eventually. I look at the thread now, and I see it’s 44 pages long. Someone may have already brought up what I consider proof, but I see from the last two pages it seems more and more that the posts have degenerated, for lack of a better term, to more personal attacks, rather than the point I wanted to make. So I want to offer what I consider proof.

First, OldDragger, I want to say I understand and respect your position. I take a similar position when it comes to religion; just have God come to me at God’s convenience, establish Its identity, and tell me what It wants of me. So, I understand where you’re coming from. To let you know where I’m coming from, I have seen a UFO. I can describe it if anyone wishes, but that’s not what’s important. Even if I had never seen it, I would still be convinced that many extraterrestrials have visited Earth. The reason is, my faith in math.

The Drake Equation indicates, if I remember correctly, that there are a minimum of about 40 and a maximum in the tens of thousands of intelligent life forms in this galaxy. You can look it up for the exact numbers. I don’t know your math background, but I’d be willing to help you through any parts of the Drake Equation that I can. I know a lot of ATS members are sharper than I am when it comes to math, so maybe they can chime in on that as well.

Now, if you can accept those minimums and maximums, you can use statistics say to that the most likely number of intelligent life forms would fall within a reasonable standard deviation of the midpoint of those numbers. Think of a bell curve with 40 as your minimum and 10,000 as your maximum. Mathematically speaking, if you guessed about 5,000 intelligent life forms, there would be about a greater than 50% chance are you would be right within 2,500 life forms. Even if you use large standard deviation on your bell curve, you’re still looking at thousands of intelligent life forms. Let’s go low and say only about 3,000 in our galaxy.

When we consider the level of technological of these intelligent life forms, we have to look at our own. Let’s go back to the same statistical analysis. We can assume that some of those life forms are far more advanced than we are, and some less advanced. So the question is, where are we on that curve? Once again, if we pick a reasonable standard deviation, we can assume that we are within plus or minus 25% of the middle of the curve. That means that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of life forms in our galaxy that have superior technology than ours.

That may not seem like a lot, until you look at our history. In less than 100 years, we went from steam power to atomic power, and our technological knowledge is growing geometrically. Imagine what we can do in another 50 years, or 100, 1000, 1,000,000? That amount of time is a mere blink in the lifespan of a planet or star. Statistically speaking, it is very, very likely that there is at least one intelligent life form in this galaxy that has over 10, 000 years more technologically developed than we are.

And why wouldn’t they come here? For the same reason we explore places, to find what we want and need. So, what would they want here? Living things. Consider this; they are highly developed in genetic engineering as well as space travel. We go to places like the Amazon and we might find a bug, or plant, of fungus, or whatever that may lead to a cure for cancer. They can go to a planet and make the most out of every DNA strand they find. They could use our DNA to genetically engineer creatures to colonize other planets, or manipulate our DNA to make us more useful to them. Either way, life is just another natural resource, like water or gold.

OldDragger, while I realize this isn’t as good a proof as personally introducing you to an alien, I think math is a pretty solid science. Even statistics. Vegas casinos and insurance companies were built on statistics and probabilities. If you think about it, the only evidence we have for the existence of electrons is math. There are no photos or videos of electrons, but the math works.

because I will say there have been thousands of UFO and Alien sightings.

I think the odds are in favor of there being intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. To visit us they would have to have either the ability to create wormholes (most galaxies are too far away even at light speed) or are basically immortal and have been traveling through space for eons before they came across us.

That being said, I do find it strange that in this day and age, when almost everyone has a cellphone that can take pictures, and quite a few smartphones that can record 720p high def video, catch every split second celebrity nip slip, LOLcats, etc, but yet not one clear definitive picture or video of an unearthly UFO or E.T.

This lack of evidence is what creates the "trolls" and disbelievers. Can you really blame them? I personally do believe there is intelligent life out there. Has it visited us? Hard to say, either they have and somehow all real evidence of such is quickly hidden from us, or they have not and it is just wishful thinking.

We should be careful what we wish for. Even with the near infinite combination of planetary systems in the universe, there are not that many located in the "goldilocks" zone like earth, where liquid water on the surface is possible, and plentiful. We hope that alien visitors would be evolved enough to be friendly, but they could just as easily want to rape our planet of its resources, especially if they are of the afore mentioned gypsies that spend their entire existence traveling through space.
