And that is why the BNP get elected. The so called "Unite Against Fascism" does not conduct itself in a democrat manner. Freedom of speech, universal to all - not just to those who we agree with.

I disapprove of what you say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it

BBC News Footage

BNP leader Nick Griffin has been pelted with eggs and forced to abandon a press conference outside Parliament.

About 200 protesters disrupted the event, which follows the British National Party winning its first two seats in the European Parliament.

There you have it, no footage of the protests. Just a pitty we cannot watch it .

Thanks guys! As I said, I am only considering it but it but it's something I'd love to do. At least I'm not some Oxbridge educated lawyer, so there's that going for me. Don't even have a degree

As for expenses, I don't see any reason to claim anything bar travel expenses and hotel accomodation, if ever the need arose.

I'm used to claiming expenses for my work, so I'd operate in the same manner and not book a weekend in the Hilton, but rather use premier Inn's for example.

I see no reason to max out my allowances, just because I can, I mean I get £25/day food allowance at work, but rarely get close to that whereas I know guys who'll use it to it's fullest.

shame for England for as far as I'm aware, the BNP lost their deposit in Scotland.

It's on the BBC News Site.(news.bbc.co.uk...) This is eggxactly what I was expecting. It looks as though the protesters are having a cracking time. Mr Griffin looks a total meringue.

I hope some of those alleged "anti fa" protestors get the beating they deserve- ironic, that so called "anti fa" people use inherently fascist tactics

The disastrous socialist leadership that the Labour party has visited on the UK is finally coming home to roost with a growing right wing backlash.

Very similar to the social conditions that gave rise to the Nazi party during the early 1930s.

The British it seems have finally found a way to rebel that suits their nature - voting. It's anonymous and requires little effort.

The BNP getting seats is a good thing for the British people, it raises problems ignored by the government, as a white english man i feel scared to speak my mind incase I'm deemed racist. The country is full and that is a fact, we're a small island unable to sustain a population our size especially as we hardly produce anything ourselves. Take the metaphor of a computer once the harddrive fills, and too many applications are running the bloated computer becomes slow and inefficient, maybe its time we clear up some space, and discard; or at least stop letting in what we simply have no room for. I'd prefer we kept our coutrysides and parks and keep a minimum on shanty towns the which of I never dreamed I'd see here.

Ironically the BNP may be more socialist in many areas

It wouldn't be difficult, would it. They would probably get the trains running on time too.

I find it very ironic that the anti-BNP brigade are stooping to 'nazi-thug' intimidation tactics to make their point that the democratically elected BNP members were 'nazi-thugs'

The Scotsman

BNP leader Nick Griffin had to abandon a press conference outside the Houses of Parliament today after protesters barracked him and threw eggs.
Shouting "off our streets Nazi scum", the demonstrators chased him down the street to his car.

Mr Griffin, who was yesterday elected an MEP for the North West of England, was guided to his vehicle by his bodyguards and quickly drove off.

Mr Griffin arrived for the press conference on College Green in front of Parliament with fellow newly-elected BNP MEP Andrew Brons just after 2.30pm.

Mr Griffin started by attacking articles from today's newspapers that criticised him and his party.

He had only been speaking for a few minutes when the protesters appeared, chanting and waving banners reading: "Stop the fascist BNP."

Eggs were thrown at Mr Griffin and his bodyguards bundled him away through the crowd.

The demonstrators kicked and hit his car with their placards before cheering as he drove off.

Protest organiser Weyman Bennett, national secretary of Unite Against Fascism, said he believed it was important to stand up to the BNP.

Fantastic....

Nick Griffin getting just a taste of what he deserves.
I'm so glad they did this.
People need to let these Nazi ***** know that we're not supporting them and show them exactly what we think and what's gonna happen every time....

Oh and the fact that the police just stood by and watched is just brilliant too.
It's being investigated but hey..... why should they help him?

What was he doing in London anyway

Star for you.
You said exactly what I was thinking. I listened to the radio news on the way home and heard about this. They were interviewing one of the protest organisers / spokemen, who harped on about using their democratic right to protest and free speech. What he ironically failed to realise of course is that Mr. Griffin was elected and the protesters, by their very actions, are suppressing democracy and free speech.

I for one have no shame about democracy working and in action. Many of my friends outside of the UK can not understand why there is such a fuss about this.

And I have to agree with them. Look across Europe. Far right parties have gained seats at the expense of the centre left. Are we ashamed of what The Netherlands has done? No. We commend them for exercising their democratic rights.

The only shame here is the actions of the crazy left, ruling elite and the media who want to destroy democracy in this country.

And to link D-Day to voting for a political party is offensive and shameful. I had family who invaded on 6th June 1944 to protect our rights. One of those rights is to vote for any political party.

Whilst I do not aprove of there methods, it is heartening to see people protesting at the very existence of the BNP. Students especially, I was begining to fear the student population in this country no longer had any interest in polotics.

I would say the nutters throwing the eggs are the scum.

We have elections to decide who our politicians are not mob violence.

It wouldn't surprise me if the scum were a rent a mob hired by the Labour Party.
