To the person that took the time to help the OP.

If you could do the same for me, i think i would be just as excited as the op

flouridated from birth, i am allways looking and hoping, even expecting to see more than i can, but with no luck. I have no doubts if i was to experience an OOBE it would be lifechanging.

thanks

Who here hasnt been flouridated from birth?
Devote the time to it, read about it, meditate. You will do it yourself.
Dont rely on someone else to "pull you out".
Even if I could "pull you out", I wouldnt, because you need to learn it yourself.

knuckles is right.... & THATS the biggest lesson of this thread, if you read it all and follow my stumbles & confusion....you would understand. Meditation is the doorway
Besides, we are our Astral selves for all eternity and in the flesh form for such a short time......so there is also the lesson of being fully IN your body and aware of being 'inside'

I've tried OOBE many times. I've got lots of the sensations you are supposed to. I even feel like I'm floating above my body or that I'm spinning round and round and I can't feel my body anymore. But then if I try to move I just move my physical body.

OK
So just to let everyone know, although I have been following threads here for years, this is my first actual reply. If I create a "faux pas" or upset anyone I certainly did not mean to. I decided to join after what happened to me on 3/23/11 at 11pm. I totally agree with you 100%. I would like to share my experience.
First let me give a little background. I have had OOB experiences my whole life. I always looked at it as nothing more than transferring my consciousness. My 10 year old daughter has experienced this since she was 5.
It seems to be characterized, in the waking hours, by having an adrenaline rush and strong desire to hide from certain individuals. Not in the sense of being afraid, but as sort of a thrill seeking game that just overwhelms you.

I began my lucid dream flying or levitating. As I was approaching a populated area I got the feeling I was being followed. I accelerated my pace and landed by what seemed to be a library or museum. I had a metal box with a radioactive rating on it. The guard checked me out and asked me what the rating of the box was and I remember hoping that it was a 6 and not a 7. The guard thought it was strange that I didn't know the rating, but let me in when we both discovered it was a 6. I started cataloging artifacts and then I got the message to flee and hide because the person that was following me before was in the building. I assessed my body and realized I was only about 5 feet tall and really thin. This was not my normal body. I stashed the box and ran down a level looking for an exit or hiding place and decided to hide. As soon as I found a good spot I started to swoon and awoke in my bed in my own body.

What brought me back to the body was an adrenaline rush. Upon waking I was burning hot in my spine and soaked in sweat. My heart is healthy and beats very slowly, but this morning was beating over 600 beats a second! Actually, it was more like a vibration or frequency instead of a solid beat. Kinda scary, but comfortably numb at the same time. What WAS scary was the fact that my heart was vibrating at the same frequency as the cable box at the foot of my bed. (Which was off before I went to sleep.) Also there was a small dot between the minutes on the digital read out. I stayed awake about 45 min after this happened to document and kinda sort things out and the dot stopped and box went off at exactly midnight.

I instantly remembered that I had done a lot of missions like this one throughout my life and was kinda angry that I was not able to do it at will. I instantly hoped that I had not harmed anyone while doing this in the past and had the feeling that my conscious was somehow transferred to that other body.

So I can totally relate to the experience, but can anybody provide some input? I mean why remember now after all these years? Anybody else experience anything like this? How about you ethereal bodhisattva or Bonpo? Mind throwing me a bone? Consider this an invite I have lucid dreams every night. Update: I believe my vibratory frequency has been raised in conjunction with this experience.

Neat-o. I remember my first experience when about 14. I was out and free and then through the ceiling and feeling the air get colder and the misty wetness of the clouds. As I rose above my house I saw an old frisbee stuck on the roof. I went up the next day for validation and sure enough, there it was.
It was spontaneous while I lay in bed drifting off and then boom, totally lucid and undreamlike.
It happened a few more times and then I started to try to control it after reading Monroe's books, etc. During my 20's when I was experimenting with '___', shrooms and peyote I had a spontaneous event (not on any drugs but just after using) where I popped out of my body and walked around my apt. As I came back into my bedroom I saw myself in bed and my body animated and the "I" in bed looked directly at the "me" standing and I freaked. I was back in my flesh instantly and it spooked me terribly. I wondered who or what had looked at me with my body when the conscious "I" was across the room.
Since then I've been chicken, although I have no reason to be really. Maybe it was the drugs! Either way, I don't talk about it because people assume mental illness (rather, people who are dogmatic materialists). It is nice to know that we probably don't need bodies to exist... I say probably because for all we know we need a body as a "projector," who knows all the mechanics?
Maybe you'll be the first to validate the phenomena to a sceptical society.

my boyfriend says this has happend to him twice....he said he felt like he was one with the universe. He went out for a run and suddenly felt like he was one with everything and he just knew that life and the universe is really like a movie theater ( lament terms ) or timeless and boundless....he was completely conscious while this happend so I'm guessing it is possible!

It does sound pretty out there. I would think it was BS if it hadn't happened to me. This is real. Before I had my experience, I thought it was bogus too. It's a very strange thing to experience, and once you go through it you don't doubt it ever again. Mine was a bit less exciting, but real nonetheless.

Well.. it's good to see you turning to advice for this and reading.. reading is important to anyone, especially someone who attempts to do something new.

First, let me pose a question to you. Have you ever had memories in which you can see yourself? Something like a fly on the wall watching the event play in your mind. Think about that. It's pretty important.

Second.. congratulations. Just don't get heady about this. Discipline and training. Nothing comes easy. You may have been yanked out the first time, but once you know the path it's not difficult to walk it on your own.

Third.. I warn heavily to not do this too much. Conscious OOBE requires something very important.. disassociation with your body. It sounds fun to be zipping free of your body but I promise you, coming back after staying out too long or going out too often is.. very depressing to say the least. The world around you almost feels like you're walking around one of those old hollywood sets where if you pushed against the wall of your living room, it would fall over to reveal a couple of surprised stagehands and plywood frames holding up the scenery of your life. It's not fun having a reality crisis. You've been warned.

Last.. I would exercise caution if you were assisted on this matter. Being found by someone you've never met is not easy. Even less so by a post on a forum. I'd say it's impossible but that's.. a really hard word to say in my opinion. More likely your inquiry was addressed by something or someone already aware of you or your desire. Autonomy is a valuable thing and something you don't miss until it's gone.

It's important to note that an out of body experience doesn't often involve you being in someone "else's" body. Assuming this was in a real place somewhere.. another dimension, this dimension, who knows.. this doesn't qualify as a lucid dream either. I know I'm losing track of my words, but.. along my train of thought, lucid dreaming is specifically the act of controlling your dreams once you're aware of them. Nothing in here speaks of control, but a bit of awareness. It's important that you remembered yourself.. and it's also important that you were.. well.. aware of the actions the body you inhabited would do as a matter of course. The two may be synonymous to a degree and if I had to fathom a response, it's possible that if this wasn't purely a very strong dream that you may have gotten a peek at an alternate self's life in a stylized manner that your mind could accept. I wouldn't technically classify that as either OOBE or Lucid Dreaming but it is still of some importance and would be a fairly valuable skill to hone, as it could lead you to a clearer understanding of your 'self' as a whole.. maybe higher self, but that would take years.

It sounds like your boyfriend may be bridging the gap between the energy of the self and the energy of the surrounding world.. it's euphoric and the brief experience often leads to a feeling of oneness with everything followed by contemplation and relaxation.. it's often a higher form of meditation in eastern arts, elevating the chi of the self to the chi of the world in an attempt to briefly commune with the chi of the universe. The universe and the world may mingle and the self and the world may mingle, but it's.. next to impossbile for the self and the universe to mingle. Usually destroys the mind or the life before that's achieved even for an instant.
