Interesting that many of the people who are testing negative for H1N1 are kind of being portrayed as if they are hysterical hospital cloggers.

But they are testing positive for a flu H2N3. So they do have the flu. I wonder how many people who are testing negative in these other countries will test positive for H2N3? Could there be two infections running through the same areas at about the same rate?

That'd be very interesting, and illuminating about viral spread.

This would also explain why the initial reports said that this virus was a human-avian-swine mixture. H2N3 might fit that profile. While H1N1 is a recombinant swine-swine.

Ah, the plot thickens. Then sneezes, and coughs.

My SO's swab test was negative. The flu symptoms were severe, too--fever, flushing, hoarsess, congestion, horrific cough, sore throat, etc. On Thursday, a PCR test was done at the hospital lab. I'll pass along the results when we get them. I might add that this bug has swept through our family. So far, my symptoms are much milder, except for a cough. I'm taking mega-doses of Vit C, along with a therapeutic dose of D, and some homeopathic meds.

g'morning all (well, it's almost noon here, I slept late today
)

my sis just called me and said that they are reporting on the news that 200 pigs are infected in Canada with this new virus strain? They say it jumped from a human to the pigs.

Is there a thread about that around here? I looked but couldn't find anything (sorry im still half asleep)
If someone could give me a link that would be great, thanks

edit: nvm found something

In what would be the first reported case of its kind, a farm worker with the swine flu virus is believed to have infected about 200 pigs in Alberta, a top official with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Saturday.

This morning's WHO update

3 May 2009 -- As of 0600 GMT, 3 May 2009, 17 countries have officially reported 787 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection.

Update 11

CDC is still showing a total of 160 confirmed cases in the US, and is not due for another update until 11:00 this morning.

Here some more flip flopping for you. I guess it's time to start fingerpointing so that the part of the population that thinks this virus is nothing feels justified.

“I don’t see anything to justify this panic,” said Robert Krug, a flu researcher at the University of Texas in Austin. “From all the evidence, this doesn’t look like a particularly lethal virus. People need a little more perspective.”

Except the fact that it could mutate into something MUCH more dangerous, and that it could end up infecting hundreds of millions of people causing a huge colapse of the global econemy , not to metion the personal tole it could take, but other than that, people just need more perspective.

Sheesh what were we thinking...

Five cases are in Lafayette Parish, one is in Ascension Parish and one is in New Orleans, according to state officials. The New Orleans case is an eight-year-old boy who is a student at Audubon Charter School, officials said.

Figured that kid would come back confirmed, now as long as we've been hearing about these cases being suspected, they are being confirmed today. That's the kind of delay we're going to continue seeing, and probably worse, imo.

Hey There, Good day!

Some very interesting stuff you posted in last couple of you posts!
Star 4 You!

Some very intersting insight from ecoparity!

What really concerns me is that I know several people who in the last two months came down with a flu, it was pretty harsh, and then they got better, and then they came down with pnuemonia! One person had to sleep sitting up! I just wonder if there is any way this is already spread!
Again, this happened in the last two months!

Some of you might be interested in this You Tube Video of Alex Jones leaving a message for the White House about the flu...in his famous context.
