‘(3) YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ZONE PROGRAM- The term ‘youth engagement zone program’ means a service learning program in which members of an eligible partnership described in paragraph (4) collaborate to provide coordinated school-based or community-based service learning opportunities, to address a specific community challenge, for an increasing percentage of out-of-school youth and secondary school students served by local educational agencies where--

‘(A) not less than 90 percent of the students participate in service-learning activities as part of the program; or

‘(B) service-learning is a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency."

I'm sure it will be enforced just like other mandates. By denial of government services if you do not comply. I'd imagine if you do not participate you will not be eligible for things like loans, grants and the like. In fact I remember that being stated in an interview of one of Obama's people prior to his election. I saw the video of it posted here the other day. I think it was Obama's campaign manager.

Personally, I think you're blowing this Bill way out of proportion. It's a study. The government has studied a lot of things that they've never actually done. This is no different.

Hey, THAT makes sense! I'm for this bill, NOT because I believe it is not a threat and is a good idea. I'm for it because another person, whom I disagree with, is against it.

This is crazy and totally unconstitutional. But instead of just complaining about it on here I think that all of us who are against it should actually do something about it. All of us who are here in the USA need to contact our congressional representatives. I've made it easy for you all and posted a link right here.

Well considering the new norm in the system is to teach children that their parents have no AUTHORITY to punish them or make them do anything they don't want to. ""This includes but is not limited to chores, extra homework if they are behind in your eyes, any form of religious outing family presented or not,(includes weddings), not allowing the child to eat as they wish is a biggie"", the list they have is endless and is made to make sure that if you stand up to them you are in the wrong no matter what!
If your child screams and cusses at you ...stand there and take it or they will arrest you. If your child goes out late and doesn't adhere to YOUR set curfew, you go to the SCHOOL HEAD and explain the problem YOU do NOT punish THEY DO!
If you are going to spew get the whole story...this is happening and we have wild children every where because of these new rules that few know about. Because frankly they only use them when you don't do what they tell you too.They also make DAMN sure you KNOW YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS! Oh and get ready for the bill banning politically incorrect books, they tried the old books are toxic and the libraries refused to pull them after testing proved it to be a LIE.

I swear i'm sending 3 letters a week, lol.
I don't think it makes much of a damn difference though, as our reps probably read them for a laugh occasionally and them return to whatever nefarious deeds they were doing before.
I like the tea party idea, and i think i'm going to start mailing my reps teabags instead of letters. Maybe they'll start to get the picture.

I don't want the feds to take me away first to there "Mandatory Volunteer" camps.

Funny thing is our congress man/woman and senators wont read the letters we send. They don't even read the bill's that they vote on. The only thing they will notice is their outlook will freeze up because of all the emails. Or their shredder took a dump because it was over worked. Strength in numbers.
