Just to point out, all those countries you've named were conquered via legitimate military/colonial action, which was the accepted norm of the time.
The difference with Israel is that it was ratified into existence and other countries were the force of arms that usurped the resident Arab population.

Israel also simply cannot stand on her own two feet. They rely on outside support to defend her from her enemies.

Even then, I wouldn't have a personal issue with Israel if it wasn't for the continued war crimes the country commits. The UN even acknowledges charges against Israel, but has never laid any against Iran!

Not saying one way or another. But how do you know? Have you seen the videos of Ahmadenijad speaking and more importantly, do you speak Farsi? I would think that people who say Ahmadenijad did not say Israel should be destroyed are just as ignorant as people who say he did say it considering neither knows how to speak the language.

I have a friend who does speak Farsi (she's Israeli, ironically. Moved away because she considers their administration to be... ah... evil). She says that his words were mis-interpreted within the context. Most likely this was done intentionally by MEMRI.

According to her, he was saying that "Israel must be removed as a nation because it never should have been one to begin with". "Wiped off the face of the map" is technically correct, but sure sounds much more agressive, doesn't it? She further tells me that Iran has never made a direct threat of force, but rather refuses to acknowledge it as a legitimate nation and has been calling for it to either make peace with Palestinians or be dissolved.

The article is misleading. It's stating that Iran has the capability to hit cities, targets inside a 2000 miles radius. Well. The U.S. is around 4-5000 miles away from the country. Iran is pointing that they want and will hit Israel, whose are forcing the U.S. to make war, but it is only Israel's intention. If the U.S. will attack Iran, say good bye to Israel, because since yesterday, Iran is aimed 300 missiles to it, able to clean the entire country within 24 hours (I'm honestly glad for this news, because right now it's a chess for those warmongering fanatics.).

No. It's just more garbage fear-mongering predictions that we see here on ATS all the time. In your case, it has to do with the numerology garbage end of it.

I agree. Its quite insane that the article says "threaten US targets" when those targets are in the process of attacking Iran ffs. What are they supposed to do? They must defend themselfs!

I've got news for you. Israel would wipe Iran off the map. They will in no way tolerate a nuclear threat from Iran. They have even said, about a year ago, that with or without the support of the U.S., Israel will do everything in it's power to ensure Iran does not gain nuclear capacity. So take that at face value. Israel will reduce Iran to ashes if Ahmadinejad tries to push Israel's buttons.

Ah... they weren't talking about hitting the US.
They were talking about hitting the US forces that are currently surrounding their country.

What kind of missiles are aimed at Israel? How many will actually fire and hit their designated target? Iran is basically already done. They need to start kissing a$$ and letting IAEA inspectors in and cooperate with the UN or they're in for a hurtin. All those cute little missiles will be vaporized in the first few minutes of attack. Shock and Awe Baby!!!

I don't know man.According to AP Iran did deny 38 U.n inspectors access in August of 06.

Also wanting to wipe Israel off the map is never a good thing.Especially when the U.S. is Israels big brother. We will save you don't worry!

i think we have to attack iran to save the economy. today the fed cut rates by 1/2%,which weakened the dollar dramatically. we have to do something to stop this, and stop it fast. while the stock market was soaring, and reeling in the suckers, the smart money was going to gold.why? because a collapse of the dollar is immenent. at this point you have to understand that our dollar is referred to as the petrodollar, for 2 reasons.1 the currency to buy oil in the world today is US$. 2 the only thing that backs our dollar is the ability to buy oil.
so what we do is import goods and export dollars. this works because the FED can print money any time it wants or needs. this means that countries around the world hoard our currency and this gives it value.
now in steps iran. 2 years ago, they came up with the idea of "the iran oil bourse". a new market to broker oil,but with euros instead of dollars. they have quite a few countries involved with this idea, including venezuela(our bestest buddie)and if this bourse starts to work with our $ weakening, there's gonna be a lotta countries scrambling to trade or sell dollars for euros. get out your golashes joe, because then we are in deep doo doo.
so one must understand that a nuclear threat is a false flag to get us to back a pre emptive strike against iran to save our economy.
let the games begin!!!!!!
IMO there is very little time till it starts
todays monetary info is at the link below...DUCK AND COVER!

www.kitco.com

p.s. do you really think iran has missles and they're parked at a mc donalds just incase? you can bet they have intel, targets and a few "sunburn missles" to throw at our 3, yes 3 full carrier groups that are presently over there(NIMITZ,ENTERPRISE,AND HARDING GROUPS). man that's a lotta ships

Israel are the only ones threatening nuclear destruction in the ME - and a nuclear Israel (with illegal weapons) causes fear amoungst all the countries surronding them.

After the cease fire Israelie troops assaulted the golan heights and slaughtered the egyption troops - who were abiding by the cease fire and withdraw order - the USS liberty was recording this and was attacked by Israel for it.

Good thread, but doesn't change my mind. inspectors have been banned, Iran likes to play games like saddam did. If they have nothing to hide, and are only pursuing peaceful nuclear energy, then why pursue heavy water reactor technology that is more expensive, dangerous, and produces plutonium as a by-product and what can plutonium be used for? A light water reactor would be more feasible for a nation just exploring nuclear energy. Why not take the russian deal to enrich the uranium for them? If Iran can enrich uranium enough to produce fuel for a reactor, then they can enrich enough to make a weapon. Their infrastructure is outdated. Maybe they should concentrate on refining their own oil rather than thying to enrich uranium. If they don't want to abide by the treaty they signed, their nuclear facilities should be taken away by any means necessary. Iranian shaped charges are already used against our troops in Iraq as IED's, and insurgents and terrorists receive training in Iran. Iran openly supports terrorism. If Iran were more like pakistan or India, They would already have nuclear weapons. No nuke for Terrorist states. Pakistan and India are not openly supporting terrorism. Maybe they should have thought twice about who runs the world, and what they would pursue in the future when they stormed our embassy and took hostages. Payback is a MF.

Venezuela is going to be the next problem for the US. Chavez has been given the power to do whatever he likes, and is nationalizing everything. Even changing the school curriculum. All to create a socialist state. Communism is what we've fought for the last 50 years. Citgo and 7/11 are venezuelan. I don't buy citgo.

inspectors have been banned

Source?

I'd really like to know.
The only source I've heard about banning inspectors was a report from anonymous UN Officials that were speaking on matters that were supposed to be confidential... totally unverifiable.
And that was last year.

38 inspectors were rejected recently, but those were a few names from a long list. The others were allowed in.

Iran has barred 38 inspectors on a UN list from entering the country, the foreign minister said Monday in what appeared to be retaliation for the UN sanctions imposed last month.

Iran rejected the officials on a list of potential inspectors drawn up by the International Atomic Energy Agency to carry out visits to Iran's nuclear facilities. Others on the list remain eligible.

Way to go Chavez!
BTW, Socialism is NOT Communism.
You've just been taught to think that because Socialism is bad for big business and good for the people.

Chavez is working towards a stable Socialist Democracy.

I believe in his goals.
If my Spanish was better and I didn't love my home so much, I'd move there.

Hello

You need to go to one of those countries under "wonderful socialism" and see for yourself just how wonderful things are. So wonderful that people are dying to get out.
Socialism in a small dose can be a good thing. The problem here is that Castro is one of his best allies and you all know what Castro did to MY country.
But then again, you have to be there.
