Before the Unaffordable Care Act, 88% of Americans were satisfied with the Insurance that they had. ObamaCare was literally a Trillion Dollar program designed to help relatively few Americans. Getting rid of a wasp nest by burning down the house.

Insurance along with medical and pharma was overpriced before Obama - all he did was floor the accelerator that had been at fast cruise.

At 20% plus of GDP and rising at 9% or more per year it's not hard to see where non cost control bandaid will get us - do the math!

The only out is to apply existing USC 15 laws and stop the stupidity.

YEP.. People were upset over the premium increases going back before ObamaCare. The difference was that they could get a low deductible, keep their doctors, have just a small co-pay for Emergency Room visits, and not be FORCED to pay for Maternity coverage, like they do now.

The reason premiums kept rising was because of. . . . Washington DC.

Their laws that refused cross-state applications kept the insurance industry from reaching out to various markets and increasing competition and thereby reducing prices.
Their laws that did not place any caps on malpractice or malpractice insurance kept the lawyers happy for decades.

Government wanted prices high. They in government did everything they could to keep prices high so that they could impose government-run healthcare under the guise of reducing costs.

i am tired of hearing 10-20 million people will lose ins. and so many will die. boo hoo. what did you do a few years back before it? im tired of all the taxes i already pay and dont want the insurance. so far i have got lucky and not had to pay the penalty. once this revamp of obama care whatever it is replaced with happens, i imagine it will just get rid of the loophole i use. the only way it will be fixed is to fix the prices at the hospitals and clinics. cost 300 to get broken arm set at one hospital costs you 1800 at another, thats where the real problem is.

Agree with points on insurance.

How about not needing it at all except for catastrophic events.

That may be true but then those in power don't get to claim they are responsible for fixing things. Instead they'll be criticized for not enforcing what was already there in the first place. The solution may already be in place but that doesn't let Trump and the Republicans in Congress act like heroes if they actually fix anything.

They went to the ER for everything including the sniffles. Then since they couldn't pay either the hospital ate the cost which led to a lot of closures or they kicked the bill over to the government (read: taxpayers). No matter what happens you're still paying for their healthcare through your taxes. Unless of course you think we should cut all support for these people and actually let them die.

So Obamacare 2.0

Watch all his supporters cheer him on.....all those anti-socialism , anti Obamacare , "rah rah repeal" cheerleaders that bough this as part of his campaign policy

Watch for incoming excuses

"Kool-aid!" "Get your Kool-aid here!"

I remember sayin " trump is not a conservative and he's for Obamacare" and all his supporters lambasted me and told me how much he hated socialized medicine and he is going to repeal it and do away with this sort of thing....

I should make a chalk board so every morning I can wake up, smile/cringe and mark one down for all of us that were right about this guy

You could always just quote yourself and others. Let's see it. I would.

Universal health care in the U.S. is inevitable.

All that is happening now is the Affordable Care Act hit an iceberg and started taking on water. The democrats are arguing in favor of going down with the ship while the GOP wants to dive overboard into frigid waters with no life vest and no plan of rescue.

Why do you people keep saying the GOP doesn't have a replacement plan? You could go to Trumps website and read about it there. Also as mentioned in the OP they are almost done with working out the details. I think that is impressive being that Trump isn't even office yet. It shows his eagerness and work ethic.

You are going to see what happens when we have people in office that are used to actually working for their pay.

The GOP in Congress have made it quite clear they don't have a replacement. Some of them have even said in the press that the repeal probably won't happen right away because they need to come with a replacement.

Also, the plan Trump has outlined on his site is a joke. First off, his emphasis on HSAs only benefits those with spare money. So not the working class who are the ones primarily struggling to get insurance. And even then it's not exactly useful for anything beyond paying for medication.

Then there's his desire to let insurance companies compete across state lines. That already happens. Do you anyone that doesn't get their insurance from BCBS, UHC, Aetna, Cigna, or Caremark? Odds are no because these are the major insurance companies and they're already in every state.

Insurance for everybody? Well, that's what Obamacare is trying to do so why get rid of it? Oh right, they don't like Obama because reasons so it has to go. Fun fact, Obamacare is very similar to health coverage former GOP'ers wanted to enact in the past so it's funny to see them now say how much they don't like it.

But at the end of the day, Trump has no plan and millions will be given the middle finger because of partisan politics.
Are you on Obama care?
Trust me it is doing more harm to the individuals seeking treatment than it is good.
Why do you think medical malpractice is the 3rd biggest killer in the country now?

So then the insurance companies will normalize prices across all states. States where insurance costs are higher (rich ones) will go down and states where insurance costs are lower (poor ones) will go up. Once again screwing the working class. Good thing they voted for Trump.

Because doctors are severely overworked. Stemming mainly from the fact that med school is so expensive and thus the supply of doctors can't meet the demand.

But, but.......they (Trumps folks) could blame it all on progressives..........

The Teddy Roosevelt ones

Any solution that does not apply USC 15 type law is no solution as it just delays the inevitable.

Boggles me how people argue and position over what amounts to minutia or points that never ever solve anything.

The math is simple and most chose to ignore it either because they essentially committed theft or condone theft or because their definition of capitol ism condones a closed market that also commits and condones theft.

I say theft because someone somewhere paid involuntarily to support benefits or undue profit.

JAIL terms and meaningful fines under USC 15 laws are the solution.

Do it and overnight 50% dump in costs result, long run up to 85%

Painful but needed.

Imagine affordable out of pocket routine care and catastrophic policy at $100 month or less.

Better yet then taxpayer's could rightly afford pre-existing and indignant care at a responsible cost.

Those on left and right should support such an initiative as it serves both sides of the issue.

Where is that coming from ?

Hyperbole.

Did you miss this part of the OP?

President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obama’s signature health-care law...

I hope you know that it is illegal in this country for an emergency room to turn away patients regardless of insurance coverage. I wonder if you've thought about where the costs for these procedures and checkups go if that person can't pay.

There are currently about a dozen replacement plans to choose from. Your talking point is stale. Further, Rand and Trump have been working on one that they released today.
