You awake! It seems you blackout... As your eye's adjust you look around. To your horror, seven bodies lay around you. Your attention is drawn to the wall... Written in blood....

No sign of the Stele either... it's gone.

One evening in Zermatt, while taking a respite from climbing, he met and conversed with an analytical chemist named Julian L. Baker, a man who clearly knew more than Crowley about the occult. Upon their return to England, Baker introduced Crowley to George Cecil Jones, also a chemist and, like Baker, a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

Baker's motto in the Golden Dawn: Causa Scientiae (Latin: "For the sake of knowledge")

You ask yourself, why would that name pop up, this was a long time ago.

You decide to look into Julian Baker and soon find he has a daughter, who by chance lives in New York, not far from where you are.

You head back to your hotel to clean yourself up, as you enter you notice writing on the mirror (in lipstick)...

"Meet me in Lincoln Park... At the mystic circle, when your there call me on ######## and describe what you see so I know your at the correct place."

(*Note: all the above is fiction)

You speak to Baker's daughter... She tells you her father and Crowley secretly achieved alchemy's greatest goal, to make gold, well they found the secret of it's making but they never achieved it. She explains there is another Stele, when the two are combined they create a vibration, a vibration necessary to make gold. She also explains that the second Stele has been lost for hundreds of years, since the Knights Templar removed it from Europe.

She explains the seven people killed were Crowley followers who were in a delirious state after weeks of no food and constant chanting. They had recently stolen the Stele from the Golden Dawn and had been literal followers of Thelema without knowing the true meaning of the Stele in which it features.

She now holds the Stele on behalf of the Dawn, she left you the original note, she used you to get the Stele back via a map they didn't understand.

As to where the second Stele is? She tells you to look behind Lincoln's foot, there is yet another piece of paper.

Oak Island? en.wikipedia.org...

According to one of the earliest written accounts, at 80–90 feet (24–27 m), they recovered a large stone bearing an inscription of symbols.[4] Several researchers apparently attempted to decipher the symbols. One translated them as saying: "forty feet below, two million pounds lie buried."
