Hiya

Is not the first time the weather attacks me when am in an ATS debate. (Last time I was in a flood during an ATS debate)

This time is not so serious. Just trees and broken things around my house, and no power last night. I should be posting sometime in the next 24 hours.

Stupid ATS Pinke debate curse.

There's no hurry...the debate forum is meant to be enjoyable not stressful. Good luck with RL-issues.

Thanks

Isn't mega stressful. Just finished moving trees around in yard, so I guess its nap time. If my theory is correct and natural disasters occur based on my forum posting habits ... I think will go and win Randi challenge.

Though it was harder to judge, I really liked the format of that debate. Not knowing the angle that your opponent was going to take, but still needing to counter it in some fashion made for a real challenge. Although I liked my argument better (obviously, lol,) I think that's Druid's story-based approach made for an interesting and novel way to get his point across.

Thanks again for letting us experiment a little bit with the format!

I motion that the new user posting as Santa Claus be not allowed to judge this debate, due to bias.

(always thought it was Kris Kringle?)

I'm lovin(not McLovin
) what I'm seeing in this forum lately. I've been missing it. I'd like to debate. Anyone got a good topic? Not politics. Jeez, this year burned me out on that crap.

Final post in the final time travel debate is up, and we're ready for your judgements!

Heff, I'll get cracking on my response to you, but might need to wait until tomorrow for the proper mood to set in (early morning emails regarding code problems usually spoil my good mood, lol.)

Here's something to tide you over, though

I'd love a go at ya 'Trep... Mod on Mod Steel Cage Challenge Match?

I'm in agreement on the no politics thing. But a staff vs staff debate should be something tough and controversial. FIGHTERS... should Intrepid accept the challenge... Any ideas?

Congrats on the win for part two!

It's time you cleaned house. (Uhm yeah, time reference intended!)

You do know I can't win all the time.

It was fun, regardless the outcome. Much respect, my friend. Well played.

That would be a fantastic idea to have you go head-to-head.

And in keeping with the match-up, something that is "Moderator specific" would be good.

How about "Dogs versus cats as companions?" Or, if you're more philosophically inclined, I think "Do animals have souls?" would be a pretty good debate.

How about...should ATS permit the discussion of drug legalization?

That'd be the one I'd want to see, it's a debatable topic..

But I understand that such a debate would probably create more problems than anything else, and the decision is already made.

Then again, it may be a good way to present the issue in a civil way for all to see the reasoning...but it'd be a rigged game, the con would have a clear advantage.

Can't help but stir up the pot sometimes

Here's one that would be both tough and controversial.

Sam Harris, one of the "Four Horsemen of New Atheism" (along with Hitchens, Dawkins and Dennett,) believes that morality can be reasoned and based on scientific terms (see his book The Moral Landscape,) rather than an absolute morality that comes from an absolute moral source, such as God.

However, he also believes this:

“Some beliefs are so dangerous that it may be ethical to kill people for believing them”

Sam Harris, The End of Faith, pp.52-53.

I'd like to see a debate on the validity of that statement.
