To answer your question... yes it is.

Notice the one keyword you used in your question, "Illegal". If it is "illegal" to begin with, how can it be right?

Why do you think Soldiers have a right to refuse unlawful orders? Of course "unlawful" is the same as "illegal". See how that works?

And I will say the same thing I said earlier... there is a difference between being against the troops and being against the Government. I have a great deal of respect for our troops.. I have zero respect for my Government. The troops are not the Government. The troops do not make silly laws that benefit the Elite. The troops do not participate in insider trading. The troops did not bail out the big banks. The troops did not create this debt that can never be paid off. The troops did not create the high tech spy grid we now live with. The troops did not write or pass the NDAA. The troops did not write or pass the Patriot Act. The troops did not make a decision to not secure our boarder. My Government did those things. The only thing our troops are guilty of, is living under the same conditions that I do.

And yes I am sticking with that story that I am not against our troops. I have no idea why you quoted the post you choose to quote... how is that evidence that I am against the troops? By pointing out their oath is to the Constitution and not to a Government?

To you sir first let me say thank you for your service & all you did for our great country , Yes still great to me & will be even more so once we run these moron's off that have set up camp in the Washington .

A Star & flag for the you OP , When I first saw this story surface surface yesterday I also was disgusted & . I have to say I am no veteran , no service man but have many family that served & came back both wounded & changed for life . They as well as all you guys have always been my , my family's Heroes ! Needless to say when & if the chips ever fall I would rather be beside / stuck in a room , or with our veterans than any of the alphabet guys out there .

Their campaign to tarnish our veterans while I'm not sure who or what age group it's aimed at if specific I can't help but wonder if it helps make them look more like the a$$ they have turned into ?

I like most in my area have always taught my children the highest respect for our elder & our veterans & most defiantly will counter this attack on them at home now as well .

Just beware if they ( gover ment ) don't pull some sort of mass attack of some sort maybe even sleeper & put it off on a veteran or veterans group in the near future .

Thanks for your input. This thread was not meant as a sympathy gathering tool for anyone. I simply feel that this is wrong and it is an important issue to me. I actually agree with alot of what you said. I was a young dumb kid who was brainwashed into fighting an unjust war. I can admit that because now I know better. There are no victims here, at least not yet. That is what we are trying to prevent. And just for your information I have never murdered anyone. I have taken lives in self defense or the defense of innocent civilians but I am not an unjust killer. Only those who have fought in these wars will understand that aspect though. So once again thank you for your input.

OP, I owe you an apology. It was wrong of me to barge into your thread with my negativity. After rereading your thread I realized you are not part of the ATS cult I mentioned. You seem honorable and I respect how you responded to my initial post.

I woke up in the middle of the night and read your response to me and I was impressed how you handled yourself. I also checked your post history and now know you are not like the majority of the people I was addressing. Your calm demeanor in the face of criticism has been noticed.

Your thread was not the proper place to voice my anti war opinions.

It's not you per say they are upset with they are taking their anger out against you by proxy. IE, they can't vent on the real people responsible so they take it out on you. I also make it a point to thank any vets i see. I know what it is so i don't blame you, your just doing what you do your, your are (was) a solider.

I save my rants for those that deserve it. We solve the problem by reminding the people about the ones that sent you other there in the first place. It's the gov i disagree with not you. You boys keep us safe and keep the rest of the sheep in that precious bubble. Pretty much, we solve the problem with awareness.

Be careful all my brother veterans. With the NDAA, they can lock you up and basically make you disappear. They haven't denied that they are not holding people now. So be careful. Remember the past. If they come for you, it will be in the middle of the night.

You are right, I was wrong and am very embarrassed that I was so quick to judge. Like you said he is not one of "them". After I read his response I had trouble getting back to sleep. I have family that was in the exact position as he was and I made a fool of myself for everyone to see.

I am a man and can admit my mistakes, and my initial post to the OP was in poor taste and I have apologized. I think his mention of a certain site member in his OP is what got my blood boiling. USMC is much different than the war monger he mentioned in his OP.

I was wrong on so many levels about USMC and am ashamed of my post even though it applies to large portion of ATS vets, but it should not have been directed to the OP.

I will try to keep the remainder of my posts in this thread as civil as possible depending what responses I got from the chicken hawks. Currently I'm only on page 4.

Good point, I know if I hadn't realise somthing was wrong I would have never woken up. After my eyes were opened, most precifically by what happened in katrina( I mean really, if any natural disater of a gfeater extent happens anywhere on earth, we are there with boots on ground in a matter of hours, to days at the latest.) On American soil it takes 2 weeks to help Americans!?!? I mean really,2 f*cking weeks!!!!!!!????????

It took me another 3 hears to find ATS, then I lurked for awhile, until I just couldn't sit by and at least not rage against the machine, it might only be by posting on a forum, but we all have to start somwhere. After my first few posts, it has become like a spicket that the value handle broke off of, I just can't stop posting now.

I understand the need for the TnC about promoting groups, if you let one you mjst let them all or your objectivity will be in question, and the fact that even though we don't always agree with it, most of us see the need.

ATS, you guys just might have saved my sanity, as before I found you, I was beginning to question wether I was the only one connecting these dots the same way.

Thank you for your words, and as such, I am in the process of removing my acusations of calling you a troll.

I understand your anger about these useless wars, I only awoke after katrina, and searched. And searched until I found ATS.

I havve read many of your posts and usually agree with most of the things you say most oof the time. I found your comments as a personal attack on all vets and as such my irish got up on me.

ETA unfortunately it has been too long to edit my posts, so I will simply apologise again, and hope that will suffice.

Well I know which side of the fence you generally sit on, and I am very pleased at your realization and apology to OP. Your posts are always very good- but that one, well... It was just misdirected, that's all. Happens to all of us I suppose. Anyways, GREAT. Respect is back in all the right places, and let's continue on fighting the propaganda machine together! I hope you will excuse me for perhaps butting in where I shouldn't have, but in this case I think it was for the best.

I think the government fears veterans that "wake up", because they would be the ones to lead any civil insurrection because they have the training.

As for some of the harsh comments directed to the military, I always remember the first non-Jewish convert to a christian was a soldier. They can change, they can feel remorse for there past actions. The 9/11 propaganda was very strong, it pulled a lot of people in, some of these people were good people led astray.

I come from a family with a long military history and I respect soldiers for what they are put through, but the dark ages are over and finally people are realizing what they are serving and protecting, and it's not our freedoms or constitution.

Just to clarify my servie record, I have never taken a life, I was always lucky enough to be in the rear with the gear as it were. The nature on job in the military makes my mos 13 - E. Cannon fire direction control specialist, we have a 13 second life expectancy in combat, because if the kill me, they cripple our long range artillery advantage as not eveyone can do the requisite math to aim the worlds largest sniper rifles. My gun was a 155mm howitzer known as a 19er8, shooting 100 pound bullets with precision measure in a couple meters, depending on the coordinates relayed to us from the 13-F forward observer.

Those in my mos are first strike targets in any and all salvos of counter battery fire, so as soon as our rounds clear the tree line enemy radar picks up our rounds and instantaneously fires a grid wide counter battery assault to make sure to end us so we stop ending them wholesale.

As such, I find it very insulting when anyone who hasn't servved presumes to try to pass judgement on us because they don't understand the gravity of our situation. Despite what some may think about the wars, soldiers don't get to decide anything, we do as we are told, or we go to jail. It is easy to say we should have gone to jail instead, but once again easy to say when your not taking personal responsibility, and thus not the one going to do 15 years in fort levenworth kansas.

As much as people do thank us veterans and talk about how brave we are, it takes a lot of courage to admit you were acting wrongly with your post to the OP, and even apologizing.

As a veteran myself, I'm thanking YOU for coming back to this thread and doing that. I understand that you feel quite strongly about what our government has the military doing, especially over the past 10 years, and sometimes we speak before thinking, or brand everyone with the same label.
