Wow.....you executed the San Jose Models primary focus.....so what...you are 5 years behind the curve...of course it stopped the losing

Scoring off the rush is the path of least resistance....it is the optimal way to terminate a playaction…..if you aren't trying to do this you are
piddeling on your own toes....when you have a McDavid you can score off of the MODIFIED RUSH.....if you even know what that means....figure it out.

Score another one for Gary Bettman and his gong show....Pettersson gets his knee ripped up by some plick who follows him after the play and interferes
with him intentionally.....he injures a budding ultra-Superstar.....Bettmans involvement with NHL officiating and his dereliction in managing the NHL

Beginning after 2005-2006 ...for 7/12 years we have allowed fewer than 251 goals against...in 2005-2006 we made the Playoffs ,we had 256 goals for and 251 goals against.
7/12 years our defense IMPROVED and we missed the playoffs......in 2016-17 the Oilers defense was very tight allowing only 212 goals against...BUT BUT BUT …..they also scored 247 goals for which is the 2nd highest number since 2005-06 also a Playoff contention season.
12/12 years we have failed to reach 256 goals for.....since 2005-06 we have NEVER EQUALLED THE GOALS FOR TOTAL we earned then,there has been zero growth in our offense.Conclusion …..a lack of offense has been the catalyst of the Oilers long term underperformance.
For 7/12 years our defense has been better.....we have missed the Playoffs in 6 of those years.Conclusion...….playing better defense does not get you into the Playoffs.

You need to stack your players to punch thru the n-zone with a focused N/S speartip....so you need to have 2 maybe 3 men working together STACKED one following the other...as the puck carrier exiting the Oilers zone enters the n-zone he LOOKS for CONTACT he HUNTS IT DOWN....he ATTACKS AND ENGAGES ad forces contact in the n-zone with the closest King and then e RELAYS the puck or LEAVES IT AS HE PUSHES FORWARD INTO HIS CONTACT for the man following him who does the exact same thing....drops his shoulder to protect the puck then LOOKS AROUND AND HNTS DOWN THE NEXT KING IN LINE and again attacks initiating contact looking to push forward and leave the puck for his incoming support.....get it......keep it to the DEAD MIDDLE...the Kings are giving you the [perimeter on purpose......force things to the middle......penetrate right up the gut on them in their own zone using STACKED PLAYERS.....keep 2 men on the walls on the blueline pinching at all times as the Kings rely on using the wall to set up a lot of their pressure outlet plays....stack your guys and attack rght up the middle taking it straight to the net.....look 5-hole first if not close in and deke...FORCE THEM TO COLLAPSE TO THE MIDDLE TO ABSORB YOUR PENETRATION and haul you down....they stage up in the n-zone spread wide E/W looking to control the walls.....then they collapse into their own zone into the middle as a group surrendering the perimeter to gain time to collapse as a group......... so SHOOT from a foot outside the blueline or just 2 feet over it....try to shoot from the dead-middle of the ice in stride like Pully does and Chaisson does ...look to go high bar down....their goalies will be backing up and you will catch him in transition from this exact position and your rebounds will drop down behind the net from this shot choice.
Remember to mix it up and use the WRAPAROUND ON THIS KINGS GOALIE...for sure use it....you will be picking up loose pucks from those middle-ice shots that drop behind the net WRAP THEM ROUND AND IN...you will have the wall pinched early and your d-men will be immediately firing it on net so loose pucks will be available....drive it around and look for a wraparound...you need them to hook and hld you so you have to be on the aggressive offense with hard possesions you hold on to..so NO PASSING...just STACKED HARD N-ZONE PENETRATIONS TAKEN right to the net to go 5-hole snapshot or closer in for the deke but ONLY 5-HOLE then drag it for the deke.....5-hold demanded so you can get your own rebound and stuff it...make your d-men work from just outside the blueline with their bodies like Doughty does....keep them well back and just OWN THE WALLS ON BOTH SIDES....immediately banging pucks back at the net...no delay....no dust-off no walking the line....just pinch and pound.
Exit YOUR OWN ZONE and engage the n-zone using the STACKED PLAYER CONTACTS DRIVING FORWARD WITH SIMPLE RELAYS that are LEGAL PICKS....and hit em DEAD-MIDDLE ICE THE ENTIRE TIME...make them play everything in the middle where they DONT WANT YOU TO BE.....lug that puck....up the gut.....hammer pucks off the wall HARD AT HARD ANGLES when you are punching through the n-zone....DONT DUMP AND CHASE THE NORMAL WAY....POUND IT from close range off the wall from mid-n-zone on a HARD ANGLE and make pucks squirt directly into the middle...WHERE THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO BE PLAYING.

On offense in their zone.....if you work the puck to the inside but have nothing … just kick it back out to the walls...and drive ONE-TIMERS IN OFF
THE WALLS......just don't play from the outside....every time the puck gets to the perimeter DO NOT LOOK TO PASS they want that...funnel it back to
the middle....one-timers or immediate snapshots NO DUST OFF....just send everything where they don't want it to go....the middle.

So you see...because of the Oilers organiational reputation its open season on McDavid for 60 minutes and the NHL Reffs WLL NOT HELP the Oilers back people off of Connor as opponents now laugh about openly on the ice.... everyone knows Bettman has put the fix in for Toronto and he wants to not bring focus attention nor sucess to Western Canada the little weasel plick.
