But that's my point. As I stated in the OP, and as several others have subsequently pointed out, this isnt about saying 'oh, the "other" side does it, too".

It's about pointing out the hypocrisy of Nugent in lining up behind Romney.

My reply to neo was pointing out that he appears to be trying to make this a 'liberals being hypocritical in their accusations against Nugent' thread, and I suspect he is doing that intentionally. Or he really only sees the world in Dem vs Rep.

That's because it is an absurd concept, brought forward by a right-of-centre humourist by the name of P.J. O'Rourke.

It's a joke, son.

I used to have a pin that said "eat the rich". Those were some times. ....but, no!, "eat the rich " was never to be taken literally! For heaven sakes, no.

Discussion of class was a big thing back then. For ex., could a member of one class really understand what it is like to be of another class? Plus, with the VietNam war going on, said to be a war fought by the poor for the interests of the rich, there was animosity for those wealthy who could be clueless about poverty and who could have connections to avoid serving over there.

"Eat the rich" was a humorous way to be antagonistic. BTW, P J O'Rourke is a great political humorist. The Left had a way to be humorous, even self-deprecating humor ("Now you're being politically correct!), something the Right who followed failed to understand.

Today's Right political humor is ghastly (Bush's hunting for the WMD in the Oval office). Today's Right needs someone like Wavy Gravy! Well, maybe Mitt Romney is turning out to be their equivalent. For the record, Hugh "Wavy Gravy" Romney is not related to Mitt Romney.

As far as Ted Nugent, too bad Romney got his endorsement. If someone who lived in his own urine and feces stained clothes for a month to avoid VietNam endorsed me, I'ld keep it on the low down.

And what's with all these hype-rmacho, hyper-gun loving conservatives who love war and start war, but personally avoided going to war? Better we should all just "Make love not war". ... those were some times...

He also enjoyed his lifestyle, perhaps a bit too much. Today he is, if not a burnout, certainly permanently altered by the drugs he has done.

I'm pretty sure the Nooge is clean. He has bragged about it for a long time if I remember correctly.

I was referring to my friend, not Nugent.

Ol Teddy has a sit down with the SS today. And apparently things are resolved.

I guess he brought the hookers!

My impression of PJ is that he has steered right, though it could be a simple matter of eschewing the loonier left elements and getting cynical. As an example of the right's failed humour, look to Dennis Miller. Used to be a very smart, very funny guy. Took a right turn after 911 and ended up skewering his career by trying to play his erudite self to an audience who either didn't get it or didn't care.

Either way celebrity in and of itself doesn't equal credibility...on either side of the political landscape. You listening, Ted?

I'm disappointed in him. He sounds just like those loons on the far left ... the Kim Bassingers (etc) who say they will leave the country if Bush43 is elected. It was dumb coming from them and it's dumb coming from him. Sorry Teddy ....

Why must people turn imbeciles into Gods? Who cares what Ted Nugent thinks. Obama is just one of two evils to pick from and evil is still evil. Why preoccupy yourself with all of this garbage? Realize that we the poor and middleclass are being turned into serfs by these elite silver spoon fed trust fund babies.

No doubt. Yes, PJ should be considered center right, (left?) libertarian. Who wouldn't find agreement with his quote?

"No drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the sources of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed, and love of power."

continuing on...here's another liberal gem from the 1960s, misused to bash liberals. Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for life. This idea actually was behind a group, the Papal Volunteers, a Christian faith-based group, whose international work was an inspiration for that "bastion of liberalism", the Peace Corps. I know several Republican babyboomers who served in the Peace Corps.

But, hey, why help empower folks when corporations want docile, dependent consumers?

Ted Nugent is the perfect spokesman for the New Right. Big trucks, lots of guns, anti gay, misogynist, and filled to the brim with self imposed arrogance.

But this is a pretty good tune by the MCMM and one of his later bands "Damn Yankees"

www.youtube.com...
&feature=related

It's a shame that Ted doesn't pay any attention to the lyrics.

that statement from him is taken completely out of context.

it had nothing to do with ted going after obama or liberals or anyone else and dieing or being jailed for threatening them.

it means he believes if obama is reelected he will continue to force his socialist BS on the country, and free speech like ted does will get him killed or jailed by the socialist govt.

also, ted is involved with several police organizations and i believe the secret service directly in some way.

that is from his mouth, in an interview around the same time as the NRA speech. also common sense would tell you hes not openly making threats on peoples lives. like the black panther party, but we will just ignore that right? no big deal there.

of course the liberal media will do absolutely anything to avoid the subject of gas prices, unemployment, fast and furious, keystone pipeline blocking, the ss hooker debacle, etc etc.

remember they are also now talking about the romneys putting a dog kennel on top of their car. 30 years ago. meanwhile obama talks about EATING DOG MEAT in his book. but romney is clearly the bad guy right?

and romney has admitted that some choices he made in the past were not good, and he would not make them again. why are people so mad that somebody changed opinions on something? he tried something he thought would help, and he realized it didnt, and he admitted it.

obama wants to keep making the same stupid mistake over and over. socialism doesnt work. the govt cant manage anything worth a damn.

and ron paul simply doesnt have a chance. sorry. thats just the way it is. but anything is better than obama. he has NOTHING to run on anymore. weve all see his hope and change, and it sucks.

ted is not having a good week. now he is a lazy coward.

CNN) -- Rocker and avid hunter Ted Nugent has agreed to pay a fine, serve probation and record a public service announcement as part of a deal to plead guilty to transporting an illegally killed black bear in Alaska, according to court documents.

The plea deal, filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Anchorage, Alaska, stems from federal allegations that arose during a bear hunt in May 2009 that was filmed for Nugent's television show, "Spirit of the Wild," on the Outdoor Channel.

News of the plea deal broke a day after Nugent was questioned and cleared by the Secret Service over comments he made at an annual meeting of the National Rifle Association where he said he would be "dead or in jail" if President Barack Obama were re-elected.

In the plea agreement, Nugent admitted to shooting and killing a bear using a bow and arrow during a hunt on Sukkwan Island in southeast Alaska, just days after he wounded another bear.

Alaska limits licensed hunters to the bagging of one bear per hunting season. Under the law, the wounding of a bear counts toward the season's bag limit.

"Nugent failed to locate and harvest the wounded bear," the plea agreement said.

What a piece of crap.

Anyone who claims to be as experienced a hunter as he should know you ALWAYS track down a wounded animal.
