People will continue on trying to find permanent happiness in something. This is attempted usually by attaching yourself to things; whether it be ideas, belief system, friends , family,body. Pretty much everything that gives you "identity". All of this things are impermanent, as well with everything in the observable universe. So someone comes along and proves your religion to be wrong or at least threatens it (this is purely hypothetical ). You feel attacked. But areyou being attacked or is an idea, which has no real existence. So you suffer because an idea, you've attached yourself to, is being attacked. Do you see the nonsense in that? So all the efforts of man are in an attempt to find some everlasting happiness. He becomes a slave to his mind's desires. Only finding moments of happiness, but never being able to be content as one form dissolves you are left with a void that causes suffering. It's not until a man sits down and observes himself, that he can begin to make a distinction between what is him and what is his mind. So when i say man has deprived himself from happiness, i'm kind of saying he continuously over looks it

That or the universe is going to reverse big bang and collapse in on itself via all those supermassive blackholes in each galaxy and then re-explode into another big bang and start the cycle all over again.

I have my money on the big rip though.
