UARS is now officially off track! T-minus impact on earth. Make a guess where it will land!

I predict that it will land on the front lawn of the White House and Obama will blame Bush for it.

everyone and their brother must be tracking this thing because the tracking site is busy.

with any luck it will land some place in the middle east and kill some terrorist or wanna-be terrorist...or maybe it should land someplace in the u.s. and take out some people on medicaid or welfare....

It says it can hit between 57 north an 57 south? The Usa is right in that region? With it turning I am not sure how they can know for sure? I am glad to hear that but makes me woner if it is being guided in.

Thats what I am saying this thing is making turns an going all over the place. So does anyone know how to predict that? Now they servers went down but the thing actually stoppe before that happened.

It is in that region, but it has already entered the atmosphere and will not pass North America again in its descent. As for it being guided in, who knows? NASA says it will break up into 26 pieces (not sure how that know that either) so I think that means any guidance it would have had will fail as it gets destroyed in Earth's atmosphere.

Scientists today said that the Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite (UARS) will make its final fiery plunge on Friday afternoon when it is not due to be passing over North America.

I can't see the applet right now but it is known to be a bit glitchy. That could be what you're seeing.
That's what got this thread started.

But the satellite does follow a curved path over the surface of the Earth.

I hope this glitchness does not mislead people to think it is going certian area an then hit another. It is interesting to watch though.
