I'm ecstatic they actually voted against extending these provisions of the "Patriot Act"
The three expiring Patriot Act provisions are:

• The “roving wiretap” provision allows the FBI to obtain wiretaps from a secret intelligence court, known as the FISA court, without identifying the target or what method of communication is to be tapped.

• The “lone wolf” measure allows FISA court warrants for the electronic monitoring of a person for whatever reason — even without showing that the suspect is an agent of a foreign power or a terrorist. The government has said it has never invoked that provision, but the Obama administration said it wanted to retain the authority to do so.

• The “business records” provision allows FISA court warrants for any type of record, from banking to library to medical, without the government having to declare that the information sought is connected to a terrorism or espionage investigation.

Keep up the pressure on Congressmen and Senators to make sure this doesn't get extended. These provisions expire at the end of February 2011.

..... until Americans unite and engage in civil disobedience on a massive and unprecedented scale....

That is the wrong way to go about it. The Bankers OWN the media so you civil disobedience isn't worth spit. If the media covered up the genocide of the Ukrainians what chance do you think we have?

DON"T Fight City Hall BE City Hall

The only real lasting way is to literally take our country back piece by piece - from within.

Organizations to do so are showing up and they all need our support. We need to make the decision as to whether we will be a collectivist nation where the government decides what rights we are granted by the authorities or a nation where WE the PEOPLE grant specific rights to the government.

If I do not have the right to kill you if you come on my property what RIGHT does the government have to kill someone or incarcerate them without a trial? In this case is the government any different than a lynch mob? Only the rights I already have, as an individual, can I then DELEGATE to the government.... Think about it.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that a law which allows “sexually dangerous” prisoners to be jailed forever without trial does not violate the Constitution. www.coffeepartyusa.com...

Nah... history is replete with the same story... greedy vainglorious elites inflate themselves, their circumstances, and their vices... only to have their own human nature destroy them by their own folly... empires are as mortal as men.

Now... see how pissed you are all now?

Imagine if... the government also flew remote airplanes over your home-towns looking for non-existant "terrorists" looking for any resources you might have, and dropping missiles/bombs on your brothers/sisters/mothers/fathers/girlfriends/dogs/cats.

Don't you get it?

There are no terrorists, THE US made them the ENEMY, THEIR / YOUR enemy!!!!!!!!

There are as many EXTREME religious nuts THERE(middle east) as there is HERE (north america), the difference is poverty and lack of options.

the WORLD hates the government. Alllllll for different and very good reasons.

too bad this wont really change anything. Even if it did, it would probably be a few years at least before it actually started being implemented. :/ They've had a taste of power, they're not just gonna give it up now. Sure, they'll make a show of it to the public, but in reality it'll be business as usual;.

Yep, business as usual. Killing/maming innocents around the world while the americas fill their fat faces and they become disgustingly rich from it. And then laugh, throw taxes and audits at you. That is if you don't throw your life away killing innocents in their army.

From the article:

The White House, meanwhile, said it wanted the expiring measures extended through 2013.

And from President Obama's 2008 campaign platform:

Revise the PATRIOT Act.
Barack Obama believes that we must provide law
enforcement the tools it needs to investigate, disrupt, and capture terrorists, but he
also believes we need real oversight to avoid jeopardizing the rights and ideals of all
Americans.
There is no reason we cannot fight terrorism while maintaining our civil
liberties. Unfortunately, the current administration has abused the powers given to it
by the PATRIOT Act.
A March 2007 Justice Department audit found the FBI
improperly and, in some cases, illegally used the PATRIOT Act to secretly obtain
personal information about American citizens.

As president, Barack Obama would revisit the PATRIOT Act to ensure that there is real and robust oversight of tools like National Security Letters, sneak-and-peek searches, and the use of the material witness provision.

Eliminate Warrantless Wiretaps.
Barack Obama opposed the Bush Administration’s initial policy on warrantless wiretaps because it crossed the line between protecting our national security and eroding the civil liberties of American
citizens.
As president, Obama would update the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act
to provide greater oversight and accountability to the congressional intelligence
committees to prevent future threats to the rule of law.

Obama Campaign Speech in Washington, DC, 08/01/07

Now, take three guesses as to which three expiring provisions "The White House", read, Obama, wants extended until 2013.

...agreed - but - i still dont believe the partys over for the military industrial complex... it would be economic suicide not only for the mucky mucks but for our country as well... how many people are employed by just the military?... how many are employed by contractors who service the mic?... civil service who work on military bases?... i have no idea what the number is but it has to be many millions... if the mic dissolves, where are those people going to get a job in an economy that already has too many people out of work and competing for the few jobs available?...

I'm sure the Patriot act supporters tried the old "whoever votes against this is soft on terrorism."We all know all that crap is gonna come out if the Senate does not pass an extension.DHS is probably lobbying the Senate right now along with all the Terrorism/Industrial complex.

Here, this is off of MSNBC: www.msnbc.msn.com...

The House could vote again on an extension under regular procedures that would require just a simple majority to pass.

The Obama administration earlier Tuesday urged Congress to extend the tools for nearly three years while Senate Republicans urged them to become permanent.

The White House said that while it would support the nine-month extension proposed by House Republicans, it would "strongly prefer" that they be re-authorized through December 2013.

See the good cop bad cop scenario here? Problem is, they are both on the same team.

Obama Administration/Democrats:Eh, just a little bit longer and we will give you your freedom back.”

Republicans: “Let's take their freedoms away permanently – the people don't care... theres terrorists in their closets!!! Under their beds!!!

Who are these people trying to fool!?! Oh, wait... they already have the majority of the USA fooled by their silly little fabricated 'division.'

They are not divided folks, the power elite own them. Watch this story closely, because it won't go away – it will stay with us for the rest of our days.

All I see is good cop, bad cop but both wanting the same result.

If I'm not mistaken but if it failed to pass The House means those provisions are effectively dead. All there is to do now is to fill up the calendar with nonsense and they will die on their own requiring no further action.

For a piece of legislation to advance from one chamber to another it needs to pass that chamber, no passage and a defeat in The House kills these provisions.
