Yes porn is bad. It is making men think anal sex is normal and so many women and girls are feeling like they have to do it. It is indeed very dangerous, fastest way to to get HIV and easy to get HPV and then anal cancer. It causes rips also in the rectum and damage to the sphincter. I just saw a news report about how more and more women end up going to the doctor or hospital for damage to that area from this. My one friend in fact is having bleeding. I´m feeling so sorry for her because he man expects it and she is too submissive to say no. I´m disgusted really that people can, like one said, defend their habits simply out of the need to feel they are right, and not take a closer look at the truth of the matter. Not to mention E Coli and infection. And when these women are older they might have trouble holding in their bowel movements. This is only the physical side. Emotionally this porn and anal sex it promotes is making women to do something that they know in their gut is unhealthy and takes away from their feminine qualities. Lets face it folks, it is 'dirty'. Its also like making the vagina a lesser vessel. Because men think of anal sex as ' special', that its the icing on the cake. Its tighter, whatever. Sick sick sick. Women, please don´t continue to to physically and emotionally bash your self esteem to smithereens. Please! Even if there is some pleasure in it, there is often pain, and why do something that in general is bad for society. People can´t push boundaries so far, or there will be no boundary left! This is indeed how morals decline. Its excess and porn has alot to blame.

You're bold...wow, you said that, like, all not scared and stuff...

Oh wait, we aren't children..I almost forgot that we're able to discuss this here.
Well, that's good then.

Okay, I was avoiding details like anal fetish, violent sex, outright WRONG sex meant to be...dominant, aggressive, and other traits that rapists have. These things don't simply go away after you masturbate...so to say porn works as an alternative for perverts isn't quite valid.

If people can understand that I am not just inventing this stuff out of mid-air, it would be very helpful to society.
I figured more people here were adults here...Maybe they are, but it's sad either way.

Thank you, Ruby.

Obviously this is not healthy. There is a cause, and it isn't just over population(although I wouldn't mind the world being nuked and taking care of all of us and the entire population problem), pornography poses a very big threat.

?Although I wouldnt mind the world being nuked and taking care of all of us and the entire population problem?

I would have to say that, that statement right there, shows me a bigger problem than any porn material ever has!
The very big threat is that porn is more of a threat than nukes and their use, by a percentage of the population and you have chosen to be in that percentage on your own.

Humanity continues to disgust me each and every day.

Children raped, throat slit, every day.
The world ending would be nice.
Sure...continuing on, clinching onto life while everyone else suffers is a nice thought, but I can enjoy my own little fantasy of earth ending, can't I?

It's not exactly porn...but it does have a happy ending.

Yeah, I mentioned some of that, actually.

But do you believe that porn could alter the way a man thinks in any way?
Do you believe it doesn't change married men over a period of time?

I will start my post by saying that I am a born again christian. That being said I have no problem with porn whatsoever. Anything taken to the extreme is unhealthy. Including drinking, drugs, prescription medication, McDonalds etc. As long as no one is being taken advantage of course. Some people like it and for them can serve a purpose of release. Our sexual desires have been placed there by God and the more you ignore it the more frustrated a person becomes. Like I said as long as people (male or female) are not being taken advantage of then what could the problem be? It's the right wing self-righteous religious people who have a problem with things such as this. And make no mistake, well before porn was readily available there were pedophiles rapists and just generally bad people who took advantage of the innocent. Just ask the victims of priests and religious leaders and authority figures. Porn doesn't lead to abuse, unquestioned power leads to abuse. Just my opinion.

Porn and sexual violence are two different things. Yes, it is certainly possible for porn to negatively influence young people. It is also certainly possible for the Catholic priests to negatively influence young people. The same is true about alcohol, drugs, bullies, bad role models and the over-sexualization of visual media (short of porn). Further, going to the beach and seeing women in tight, skimpy bikinis might inspire some bad behavior, as well as watching the latest music video. Greek and Roman statues might also inspire some bad behavior. Watching olympic-level gymnastics might also do the same thing.

Porn, and all of those other possible influences do not equate directly to what the OP is trying illustrate. ANYthing, essentially, can cause a person to do something. Usually, it's not as simple as someone confessing, "It was the porn (or whatever) that made me do it." People are complex, even the ones who seem stupid and simple: they're complex.

I imagine a great deal of criminals might not have gotten the attention from women they so dearly craved when they were growing up. For whatever reason, they probably didn't have much attention. Maybe they were too short, too tall, too skinny, too fat, too pimply, too ugly, too weird, too nice, too mean, too --whatever. End result: lack of attention from females. But, those guys have needs. I imagine that if a lonely guy desperate for "love" or "intimacy" felt he couldn't otherwise get it, that guy might resort to sexual assault.

You don't need PORN in that scenario to make that happen. And, sorry to all us "guys" out there, I used "a guy" as an example because I'm pretty sure that the majority of rapists are guys. It's rare to hear about a woman raping a man. Anyway, rapists don't necessarily need PORN to cause them to act. Merely seeing women jog down the road might be enough.

The point is that the human mind is motivated by **many** things, and to single out PORN might seem seductive, but ultimately is incorrect. This is not to say that porn has not inspired rape; I'm sure it has. However, as stated above, I'm also sure that many other stimulations have also **equally** if not moreso, inspired rape.

There was rape from the beginning of mankind. Porn is a bit more recent.

I don't see how porn negatively affect the people viewing it. I certainly don't think porn can make a normal person into a rapist, if somebody is going to rape somebody because they watch porn, they weren't that mentally stable to begin with.

The other point to make note of is that in our society, it is common to have witnessed **THOUSANDS** of acts of violence, murder and death by the time we're 10 years old, if not younger. We see war movies where hundreds or thousands of people are being stabbed, skewered, sliced, diced, minced, shot, blown-up and disintegrated. Yet we make the very act of intimacy required for the procreation of human life... somehow, strangely TABOO.

It's okay for kids to watch someone getting their head blown off in an action mafia flick, but you must be 18 (or 21) to witness two people having sex / making love (depending on the plot of the porno, LOL). ??? How does that define our society? I imagine aliens in a first contact situation studying our "doomed" world where us warmongering humans almost WORSHIP the portrayal of VIOLENCE and condemn the same portrayal of the sex act.

And, what is this with your fantasy about the ending of the world? Maybe you need something good to live for? To want the destruction of all life on our planet and to lose all the art humanity has ever created... Is a major kind of desire that goes beyond rape. You really have fantasies about the world ending? To me, IMHO, someone who wishes that seems to have little, if anything, to live for. And those kinds of people are the most dangerous, for they have little to lose. The quote says: "Beware of those who have nothing to lose." People in that category are also more likely to commit sexual assault and rape. I'm not saying that the OP is someone like that; I'm just somewhat confused by the desire to have the world come to an end.

well it may sound crazy but I think porn is one of those "gifts". You use it for good or you use it for bad. Porn is no different from anything else that is made. for IE:

Someone can watch porn and say "Hey ya know what that looks like fun I will suggest to my wife that we try that."

Another can watch porn and say "Hey ya know what that looks like fun I will go to a young helpless female/male and try that on them."

Thats the beauty of being a humanbeing you are presented things and each person has to decide what they will do with that idea/thing or whatever you want to call it.

Thank you for bringing this to light. I believe that porn turns people whether it is someone in the porn or watching especially the young into someone they don't wanto be.

I read a medical report- I think it was 3 independent studies combined- on the effects of porn. If men masturbate excessively then it MAY lead to erectile dysfunction when they are older. Basically, your brain sends the "ready for sex" hormones but sex never comes, so, penis gets lazy. (Lucky for me I don't have one!)
I know enough about medicine to know that this may OR may not be true- So I'll let you decide for yourselves. Besides, I can assure it is a very entertaining google search- you know- all the men trying to heal themselves through abstinence.

But does porn lead to rape? Heck no.. If you are SERIOUSLY citing polls based like the last 100 or 50 years ago, then consider this: What did women wear then, and what do they wear now? The average woman walking down the street Now would be considered a prostitute Back Then. Think about it!

How about the defacing ones?
Big nasty mess.
Sort of appears to symbolize destroying something pretty. A lot of men have the want to destroy something because it is pretty.

It can grow and grow.

You make a lot of sense in your comprehensive wording, but I think healthy moderation applies to foods and drinks, not so much porn.

Rape HAS gone up, and yes, not every porn addict is a rapist, but you can bet that rape hasn't gone up for no reason.
Maybe you, yourself are harmless when you do your thing, but it does do something to your mind over a period of time.
Maybe you'll end up taking your fantasy only as far as cheating on your spouse...and then no one would be harmed.
Whatever the person's situation, porn is a problem.

The authors I linked you to actually explain it more thorough than I do.

Talk about making sweeping statements.

Reported rape has gone up as people are more inclined to press charges and report it.

Pornography is so varied in subject and content, some bad, some good. It's like saying all books are bad because murders are committed in some of them and it may give people ideas.

Porn is only a problem if the person watching it has an underlying problem. That problem will still be there whether porn is available or not.

Porn is not bad at all.

Personally I disagree with feminist comments on the matter.

Porn is infact rather educational, don't know if i could agree its the best way, but its one of them.

Heres to porn, entertaining me night after night.

yes especilly when your jerking it and you go right in your eye, thats dangerous you could go blind!

But seriously, yes it is, very. We are suppose to save those urges for the one we fall inlove with (or just have sex) but the more porn becomes popular the more people just want to have regular sex, the more people do that the faster STDs right spreading around like wildfire.

Do i need to go on? we begin to crave for more and more, as it consumes our lives, we want more and more interset more "boom", because the same thing doesnt appeal to them so they want something differnt, and thats how its dangerous.

As a species, we are never satasfied, and will always crave for more, even if we were masters of the universe, always want more

There are some great responses in this thread, in defence of porn.

I could say quite a few things about the beneficial effects of porn on me, but I'll just say one. Thanks to porn I no longer have a picky attitude to female beauty.

When I was an adolescent, a girl had to be close to the Barbie Doll image before I would consider her worthy of romantic attention. Having seen thousands of porn clips over the years I have learned that virtually everybody has something attractive about them and one has to be very far off the scale physically to be repulsive.

Not that there aren't such people, alas, but hopefully even they can find happiness with someone. If not there is always porn for sex and friends for affection and love.

Project "P" in Toronto is a porn monitoring operation of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Department and a couple of years ago they published some statistics in a newpaper interview about the size of the porn market, financially, in Canada. I'm going from memory here and don't remember the exact dollar figures, but they rated the industry as being in a league with the top fast food segments of the restaurant industry.

It was somewhere between pizza and fried chicken, easily in the top five, in terms of money spent.

I admit to enjoying porn. A handful of others will admit to it, including some notable Canadians who have gone public about their taste for it, but the vast number of consumers who are spending well in excess of a billion dollars a year on it are . . . shy. Based on the numbers, there is no reason to single out porn for villification in our society.

It's a fast food style commodity that, let's face it, gigantic numbers of people are consuming.

True, Anthony.

We always want more.

Observing, "learning[as everyone calls it]", for years from porn,
you'll be taught to crave certain things, crave anal sex, and it wont teach you what sex ed does...It will leave out a few things.
Also will portray rape scenarios, the facial things....Even if I can't find a proof from some idiot that attempts making a statistics chart for this, it is proven that porn raises your aggression level.

To some, beauty is to be loved and looked at from different angles --inside and out-- for others, beauty needs to be destroyed.

Anal fetishes to the point of it being violent, defacing someone, fantasy rape, these are things that wont simply leave your mind when you're done masturbating. We, the human race, always crave more.
