If you hang around for another 5 years you are going to see some issues and topics discussed here differently than you used to. And thats a good thing (it means you learned something from being here).

So you have seen the Sacred Parchment, then?

Yes,

I used it as a drink coaster when I first arrived

I'm not ready for a walker yet, buddy.

Everyone has a valid point to some degree.

Whether they are right or not, whether we agree with them or not.

The pecking order of oldest over newest members has been around for a while.

Whether anyone wants to follow it however is always in question.

I have seen older members who do not know squat.

And I have seen newer members who were refreshing as Hell.

Godsmack - Speak

There, I "spoke", now do I get a cookie?

I would love to have some sort of Council where senior members, by registration date, have a say in how things are done, but by attrition we would need it visible to the entire membership, so as to be seen as transparent.

Possibly a forum area just for "elder" members to put together ideas?

The problem is ATS Administration would never go for it.

It challenges authority with how the site runs.

Obey The Moderator! - Optimus Rhyme

In the end, obey the Moderator's, and keep your nose clean.

As for anything else all I can say are two words to end this post.

Deny Ignorance.

Yes sir, I'm an elder. Could someone help me find my box of Depends before I soil my trousers.

I've seen the ebb and flow for years but I see a very unhealthy trend on ATS lately. I'll stick around just to see how it plays out; being the www. cultural anthropologist. I predict it's gonna get ugly. Actually uglier!!!

Don't get me wrong; that's not all bad. Some of us mine the www. like a prospecter looking for gems or placer deposits and ATS/BTS is a treasure beyond your wildest imagination.

ATS is a community. Like any community ATS has members that have been around the longest. With experience comes wisdom. Is this a wisdom we have going to waste here at ATS? I wonder if there is someway there can be a counsel of elders so to speak. Where the younger members (by years involved, not by age) can get opinions on matters and ideas by,"The Elders"?

Ahhh mannnnnnnn... sorry your idea got poo-pooed. I was kinda hoping somebody would take me under their wing. I mean, look at my Avatar, for one thing. Like I posted in the New Mod thread, poor thing looks like something my puppy chewed up

It is, as I am, a wrok in progress

Agreed on all counts. That plus I lost my first name so I don't qualify LOL

Besides there are already a few systems in place for exactly this this kind of thing? Or close to it anyway.

But good thinking

I don't think I've ever seen a member from 2001, which is a bit odd.

Through the years I have noticed one interesting thing here that was fun to watch. ATS became a news hub that got information faster than some(most) main stream news outlets. I havent watched a tv in years, but Im up on current events that most people don't hear about do to some celebrity scandal bullcrap. Some threads here contain alot of "raw data" unavailible elsewhere.
