If you hang around for another 5 years you are going to see some issues and topics discussed here differently than you used to. And thats a good thing (it means you learned something from being here).

The pecking order of oldest over newest members has been around for a while.

Whether anyone wants to follow it however is always in question.

I have seen older members who do not know squat.

And I have seen newer members who were refreshing as Hell.

I would love to have some sort of Council where senior members, by registration date, have a say in how things are done, but by attrition we would need it visible to the entire membership, so as to be seen as transparent.

Possibly a forum area just for "elder" members to put together ideas?

The problem is ATS Administration would never go for it.

It challenges authority with how the site runs.

Yes sir, I'm an elder. Could someone help me find my box of Depends before I soil my trousers.

I've seen the ebb and flow for years but I see a very unhealthy trend on ATS lately. I'll stick around just to see how it plays out; being the www. cultural anthropologist. I predict it's gonna get ugly. Actually uglier!!!

Don't get me wrong; that's not all bad. Some of us mine the www. like a prospecter looking for gems or placer deposits and ATS/BTS is a treasure beyond your wildest imagination.

I don't think I've ever seen a member from 2001, which is a bit odd.

Through the years I have noticed one interesting thing here that was fun to watch. ATS became a news hub that got information faster than some(most) main stream news outlets. I havent watched a tv in years, but Im up on current events that most people don't hear about do to some celebrity scandal bullcrap. Some threads here contain alot of "raw data" unavailible elsewhere.
