Sorry dude. Some of us here in the US still think their voice matters. And with that voice they try to influence their own lives their future and the future of their children. They do this by meeting, getting together and making noise so as to not be easily forced to partake in something they dislike. Tired of it? Change the channel, navigate to a new thread. I do! I'm British and my wife is American. We lived in the UK together and ended up moving to the US. One of the main reasons we moved was because we had one bad experience after another with the NHS. Now we're here, guess what? The US system is just as bad.....in different ways. Both systems are screwed-up in their own way. If we could take the best of both and create some sort of hybrid system we could be on to a winner. Of course you also run the risk of ending up with the worst of both

Did you even read what is being proposed in the healthcare reform?

I can see that you haven't,. and you haven't either watched what president Obama himself has stated in interviews, or you just want to believe "he is doing it for the good of all".

The healthcare reform that is being proposed by the Obama administration will make HEALTHCARE WORSE, not better.

The Obama administration was also caught making deals with Big pharma, and has been breaking every promise it made.

Why do keep believing healthcare reform as proposed by the OBama adminsitration will make things better, when it is obvious it will make them much worse?

Yes, healthcare needs to change, but not how the Obama administration wants it to change.

I don;t disagree with this, but in general everyone has or had until recently the opportunity to significantly improve their living conditions and life quality by just this manner. Americans by and large are hard working industrious people, determined to better their lives and the lives of their progeny. We work hard and enjoy selfishly and rightly the fruits of our own labor. That is exactly why America was for the longest time the worlds largest economy with the single greatest living standard on the planet and ever increasing opportunities, technological advancement and growth. The institution of progressive, communal, communist ideologies determined to overthrow the American way of life and destroy the US's success are ultimately coming to fruition, America of the 50's no longer exists. We are not the country of my parents and grandparents, no longer a country of free individuals but a country of slaves, willingly giving up our lives to some nameless amourphous greater good. As such we have the worlds largest deficits, and debt, and crumbling infrastructure and manufacturing.

There's a quote somewhere that goes something like "the best slaves are those who falsely believe they are free" which I think is relevant here,

I swore I'd keep out of this debate, because:

-There is no way my opinion would help/change/matter

-There is just too much arguing too and fro for there to be any decent debate

-I am not from/in the US so have no idea what health care is actually like


I have been drawn into this simply because there has been much NHS bashing of late.

Your post actually make a lot of sense, and reiterates to me that I ought to re-adopt my original principles and bug the hell out.

I just hope our sibling the US finds a system that is acceptable to the majority of Americans, that is workable, and that you come through it without anybody doing anythng stupid.

But when it boils down to it, it's none of my business I guess.

Don't EVER say "You the American people" within the same sentence as undermining the Constitution and and actively killing people in other countries in order to spread democracy!

We the American people don't have any part of this, and many strongly object to it. That is why we protest against our government. They act the way they want, whether we like it or not. They are the ones who give us our reputation as a nation in meddles in other countries' affairs and go to war unjustly. They are the ones responsible for a war going on in which thousands of innocent people are dying. Not the American people!!! It is the government that imposes new laws and regulations which effectively limit our freedoms. That is why we protest against them, in order to keep that which was given to us by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution.

Now, we are being attacked because we are complaining about our government stepping over it's boundries once again? Please, give me a break! Everybody complains that Americans are arrogant and ignorant, when their idea of America is based off the very government and elitist power-plays that we are protesting against

We are not slaves, and despite some government attempts to control us, I know that I never will be, along with a significant portion of the population. Our nation started out as a group of colonies that rebelled against an Empire that was too controlling. The country was founded on the beliefs of freedom of the individual. Not socialism, not fascism, and not anything else. It was to be a nation for the people, and by the people. There was to be very limited government. Slowly, as time progresses, the government grows stronger and stronger, while the people lose more and more of their freedoms. This is why everybody here is so upset with the new health-care reform. It places way too much power with the government, and takes away the freedom of Americans choosing their health-care and not having to pay for everybody else (including illegal immigrants, and those who do absolutely nothing but leech off the system).

Don't get me wrong, I strongly believe America's health-care needs some changes and reform, but not in the way it is being proposed. The bill is being rushed through, is riddled with errors and problems, allows those who wrote it to profit and gain power, and stands against what the Constitution means to us as citizens. All people in the world deserve to have medical care and aid, it is a human right. And I for one want them to get it, but the new bill proposing to do so is garbage and would just create even more problems than it would fix.

If you have a fractured arm, then get it re-set and fixed as best as possible. You don't amputate and put a whole new arm in its place

Of course they're complaining. They see Americans rejecting their choices. They're subservience and acquiescence to collectivism.

They are opposed to anything assertively American. That's why they hated Bush so much.

Remember Bush campaigned as a non-interventionist and they still hated him because he wasn't about to submit to the UN and the EU and the global warming nonsense. They hated him instantly... and then when he changed his aspect after 9/11 they REALLY hated him

one big problem, it's not americans americans are targeting, atleast those who know what they are talking about. When we say we don't like something, we're a little more specific than the over priveleged americans, we're talking about the people who created the socioeconomic diversity, the bilderbergers. the people who wave their power over us, and the rest of the world.

So before you go around pointing misguided fingers, make it a little more clear. And yeah, Obama is corrupt, so why not draw a mustache on him? In retrospect, it's people who don't walk the mile who sit back and talk smack about things they really dont know anything about.

Those who struggle all around the world always find someone to blame, but it's more than that - it's the fact that a very small amount of people in this world made continue to enforce the struggle with their veil of dominance.

Then again Canada doesn't have to support 23 million illegals with health care, schooling, food stamps and free legal help. Most of us in America have no one to blame but ourselves. Who else hires employees ( Federal, State and Local Government) and then let's them set their own salaries, health care and other benefits including pay raises. But, I think we Americans and Canadians have it good compared to the poor British. Those folks ate being taxed, feed and fined into oblivion. Their military is getting screwed over and their pols would give America's most corrupt officials a run for the money any day of the week.

hmmm a great deal of my belonings are chinese made and the last time i checked alot of the chinese people live in communistic poverty.

It saddens me that one would think kids in a sweat shop in a communist nation making our goods is a way of life we should adopt

I had to sign up just to respond to this comment:

If you think the majority of Europeans are proud of their socialist governments that have been created for them, my friend, you haven't lived overseas long enough. Nationalism, not socialism, has been on the rise in Europe for the past decade and I can't even tell you how many Euro's I know personally that want out of the collectivist system the government jammed down their throats back in the 90's while they were completely asleep at the wheel.

So the results of this socialist experiment are coming in and what are we seeing from the general public? What's the overall mood of a Western European population that's had to live under this Utopian system for much longer than any Canadian? Rage and distrust at governmental organizations that failed to deliver on so many of its promises over the years (including health care). A continent that's been in rebellion like we haven't seen in decades. Those of us who study politics abroad are keenly aware of the number of seats European socialist parties have been losing over the last several elections and it's always for a reason.

But the problem with America is pretty simple. The country is more in debt than any nation in history. In order to buy stuff, the U.S. borrows from whatever foreign creditors will give it cash to maintain its quote-unquote "empire". Yet, instead of reigning in spending and realizing that somebody is eventually going to have to pay for all this, Barack Obama (and his handlers) are increasing the size of government, nationalizing health care, pushing for more troops/bases in Afghanistan, the Middle East, South America..... and doing the exact opposite of what one might consider prudent or healthy for an ailing society. In the words of one economist, instead of hitting the brakes to atone for the excesses of the Bush-Clinton-Bush years, Obama basically just stepped on the gas and is driving this country right off the cliff.

What we're dealing with is a generation that doesn't want to admit the party's over or how badly they've screwed things up because if they ever do, it'll be the greatest depression the Western World has ever seen. So it's like a game of Russian Roulette or musical chairs where each generation of Americans passes the tab onto the succeeding one hoping they won't be the last that has to actually pay for the excessive lifestyles of their parents (a.k.a. the baby boomers, the worst generation of all time). The average American lemming substitutes the cold, hard, reality of his day for "positivity" hoping that the system he's living under really isn't quite as bad as it seems.

But it is.

And when the music finally stops and Americans wake up one morning to find they've been conned into believing a cruel, vicious lie, it's going to be chaos east and west of the Rockies. That day of judgment has constantly been postponed by the powers that be (and a once subservient American public) but we're getting much closer to a flashpoint in this country than many would like to believe.

Do you pay taxes up there so people in one territory can recieve $200 per child to buy back to school supplies, only so they can turn around and hit up the distributor and state stores? Or buy frivolous items like ipods and this and that?
