I have a couple of thoughts about all that. If there is a God, that Being is probably nothing like what people say "He" is. In fact, the chances are good that this God is beyond what our language is capable of describing.

Think how confusing it is to try to understand what quantum physics tells us. A particle is kind of here, but only more or less; it's also kind of over there. What? It defies our experience. To us, something is either here, or there, period. The notion that something could be in both places at the same time, but not quite *fully* in either place, makes no sense.

Now you're trying to figure out about God, Who not only understands quantum physics, but Who created it. You're going to run into even more problems understanding what this God is all about.

I think that understanding God with our intellects is beyond our capacity. I think, however, we can *experience* God, sometimes. But if we do, we won't be able to explain to anyone what happened, what It was like.

I think The devil and god are US

Now i know that sounds bizzarrr to some but so many things i have seen and read.

We are both.. "well we have the capacity to be both"

Were will humans be in a million years from now? "would seem pretty god like to me"

Will we destroy our planet and all go the way of T Rex "seems pretty hellish to me"

God I think does not CARE.. because he has better things to do.. like make universes or what ever he gets up to on the weekends lol

; )

Maybe the lives we live here are a test to determine by our actions who is deemed responsible enough to inhabit and populate other "mansions" in heaven. the integrity of the test would be compromised for anyone as soon
as they moved beyond faith into actual knowledge of a god with an agenda. Our motives might be swayed by the assurance of said reward &
thus be contrived & unnatural & subject to failure on the next new planet resulting in another misery filled existance?

by god i mean we are able to make a choice..

God made a choice to make us.. that is what we have in common

The question is more important than the answer.

Keeps it all going

In the words of Dr Steven Greer Hey we are thinking in terms of Anthropomorphically. As like someone said you cant explain the workings of an internal combustion engine to a Mouse because basically it is beyond the comprehension of its reality and in essence totally devoid of it.
So trying to think like God with the blinkers of ego on is only going to leave us in disillusionment at least anthropomorphically speaking Yeah

Why you ask? It would be like your parents doing your homework. You don't do any work and you don't learn anything in the process. He wants you to EARN what you want.

Although posting on topics such as this one is pointless as it will forever be a stalemate, no one will give an inch. But, as I feel so strongly for the topic I must. Just this weekend, I was home for my mother's college grad and at a family gather and a few drinks as always, religion came up as did once again the fact that Steve(me lol) is an Atheist. And I always get the same thing, my mother and father just tell me i'm lost and that i'm looking for something and that one day I will see the truth. She always uses the example if I were facing certain death, God would be the first one i turn to. I disagree.

As I have said a hundred times before, if God is real, which i do not believe, he is childish, and underachiever and overall a prick and is no way as all powerfull and all knowing as "that book" makes him out to be. If so, if he was real, he would not have to play these games with us and stroke his ego. The bible is just theist masturbation for the soul and again like I have always said a very dangerous way to live your life, so completly devoted to something you have no proof that exists and fear more that anything else. Why should you fear someone who loves you so much, I always ask my dad who is SO sure there is a god and hell and believes the bible completely, if you are so sure that God exist why are you not trembling and just praying day in and out. He drinks and curses and all other sins but is so sure god exists. If I believed in him, I sure as hell would not chance getting into heaven for ANY reason but yet people believe and will argue blue in the face that he exists, then go home, have a beer, cheat on thier wife, watch porn, lie, cheat and steal adn break all the other ten but don't dare bad mouth thier god.

I believe there is a god. I believe the Bibles is mans early attempt at understanding god. I do not believe those who wrote the bible got it right and it also is used to control people and set laws of men.

If we exist then God exists. Something created everything. In this line of thought God is everything from beginning to end. We maybe a part or whole of Gods sentience. We seem to be limited only by the restrictions we place on ourselves and our battles for our future. If we shed all that and began to truly reach for the heavens and immortality we could probably get there or very close. If we embrace compassion, our reality and the adventure of knowledge and exploration we would become similar to the god people imagine.

We are not God, but we are a part of its brain if not all of it. God cannot answer the mystery of truth until we stop fighting over the truth and begin searching for it.

If we can achieve that, someday the universe will answer you.

With no disrespect intended...prayer, group gatherings and singing and listening to an authoritative person preach is a form of willing brainwashing.
It is a choice to allow this to happen. Your faith is taught to you and you decide to embrace it or not.

You can knell by your bed daily and tell yourself over and over that you have control of your hunger and that you never allow yourself to over eat. Eventually you will begin to believe that and live that. Its just like praying for it. We control how we process information by what we allow ourselves to believe and how often we repeat those thoughts in our mind.

Your brain will adapt you to the thoughts you repeat. There are limits of course! You could probably never make your brain cause you to fly or grow wings. However if you keep at it long enough it might come up with an idea on how to invent something that would allow you to fly.

On the other hand it could be possible if humans began to wish they had wings that eventually our thoughts could cause a mutation so that in millions of years humans might be born with wings! Know way of knowing...

Nothing wrong in believing the bible as long as you do no use it to hurt others.

I don't think it is that way, I don't think that god can intervene with human affairs. I think that god is just there, frowning upon his creations as we destroy each other, and embracing those who move to happiness, those who move toward him and try to reach him.

Good thought there...how deos SIN fit into this paradigm? Does He just turn a blind eye? What about the Hitlers/etc...

I see where the OP is coming from. It almost seems like a logical fallacy that an all-powerful + all-loving God would put humans through this test that is life. Do remember that modern religion's portrayal of God might be very different to God's actual nature (if God exists).

And it is a very valid question to ask why does God not immediately grant everyone happiness, prosperity, compassion, salvation etc. But this could very well come down to humankind's misunderstanding of what God actually is and how he does things. Of course the Bible/Torah/Koran have all been subjected to translations and editing for political ends, so how are us living today sure that what we believe is the original word of God and not the desires of those who were and are in power and authority?

It is these reasons that I am agnostic on the existence of God. Unfortunately, when you ask the BIG questions both sides come up with simplistic answers.

Those FOR say things like: "God has put us here so he can test us and then judge us if we are worthy of ascension into his Kingdom of Heaven."

Those AGAINST say things like this "God does not exist because there is suffering in the world."

Both answers leave one feeling unfulfilled.

OT you got BTS'ed I really dislike when Mods move stuff they do not like. They should have to carry the burden of proving why and stating inside post why they move something.

Nearly all religious discussion is based on conspiracy since it is people attempting to get you to believe in something that has no tangible evidence.

That is conspiracy.
