Judge a book (or a member) by its cover

Very soon after joining on here, I think I made one post (& it had nothing to do with god)

some user FOE-ed me. I asked why & he said:

"In case your avatar changes, I want to remember that you hate the Lord, so I have added you as a foe.
BTW, it would seem that you hate the Lord for suffering? Why don’t you start a thread about that very interesting topic? Suffering can be viewed as a good thing, without it you would be nothing. "


Apparrently, he doesn't listen to heavy music.

Yeah, I base my idea of someone's sex on their avatar, unless I read otherwise in a post. I know it's kind of silly, but that's what I do.

I never really given any thought to a persons avatar as their sex.
I've had a few avatars but all in all I think they all describe me well.

This particular "book" has many covers, governed by what he likes, which is why my avvys normally have either art in them, or contain a beautiful woman (or a combination of both), or in the case of the current one, show my allegiance to Liverpool FC.

I find it funny that people look at an avvy that has a woman on it, and assume the poster is female. Do you look at Jedi's current Avvy and assume he's Harrison Ford?

ya know what , i have never thought about who someone was / what they are like based on thier avatar .......... because that would be ignorant

read the post , and draw whatever conclusions you must from that

Anyone with an annoying or creepy animated avatar - you look like people with no avatars to me, because I tend to adblock out those images that irritate me..

For the majority of my time on ATS I haven't had an avatar so this topic doesn't apply to me as much as it does others . The main incorrect assumption that other members have made about me is my nationality . Myself I suppose excluding the members that I have gotten to know away from the boards or those I have had regular discussions with I have judged members based on if I like there avatar or not .

i too somehow make a mental image of ppl in my head when i read their username and see how they type.
I tend to do that a lot when i play MMO's

I do not make any judgements made on peoples Avatars, i tend to look how they post and try to work out the personality from their. their sex to me is irrelavant.

I am interested however in those of you that do this, what does my avatar say to you?.

Well, You like aircraft and can probably name many kinds and tell whether it's an F-15 or and F-16 and what year it was built. You've probably thought that you'd like to have your very own A-10 Warthog and thought it was unfair that you can't. I think you have t-shirts with aircraft on them. I think you take time to figure out what you really believe in. Being a Skeptical believer, it's taken you a long time and much thought and research to conclude that there is someone "out there". I think you're fairly young, low-mid 20s, like fairly mellow music, science fiction movies and fair, waif-ish women. Women like you for your sense of humor and because you're a "nice guy". You'd like to be "bad", but it doesn't come naturally. You may be in college but are confused about what you want to do for a living.

I was on a roll last night. Not sure it's carried through to this morning.

I never judge anyone by their avatar, because based on those I know here, I would have been wrong. However, I also make avatars for people, and I know that some avatars really dont fit who they are as a person, just maybe what their interest is at that time.

As far as gender goes. I have been very wrong on genders based on the avatar

In a way, I do hate it when people change them, because I tend to recognize member's posts based on their avatar.

skyfloating: had to reply to you, since judging just from the name and avatar, i'd imagine you to be kinda like me, the kind of person who can just sit and stare off into the sky for hours and just go into deep contemplation about life and philosophical things.

dunno if i'm right or not but if i am, lemme give you some advice: wear sunglasses when looking at the sun, and try to not stare for more than like, 30 minutes... i have really bad eyesight from doing that and have to wear really strong contacts or glasses just to see like 6 feet in front of me haha

greeneyedleo: you seem mysterious and strong, the kinda person who can really take care of themself and be independant. respectable qualities. my mom's a leo too, rawr.

Oh man, well, you got a few right. My name is Jimmy (that's rather obvious), i don't drive a jimmy, I drive a white chevey pickup truck that's 4x4, I don't like deathmetal, I like techno, Sufan Stevens, stuff like that, I used to listen to AP2 back in the day though. I don't like tenaceous d that much, they cuss too much and a lot of the music is rather vulgar, I did enjoy king kong though, great movie, I don't have kids, I want to adopt though if i ever get married, I'm not really gothic, I like skulls though, they remind me of what Christ did for us on the cross, I own a lot of light colored clothing. i definantly believe in God though, I'm a Christian fundamentalist (I believe in the fundamentals of Christianity which are laid out in the New Testament), I'm a bit of a bible scholar too. I don't own a fish, never have, I own two dogs though, I live on a farm too.

Just incase anyone is wondering if that's really me in my profile pic (seeing how my looks don't match my body) I can definantly assure you that is is. The reason why I call myself jimmyjackblack is cause when my hair gets long, I look just like Jack Black.
