The other reality is the Middle East is made up of very different cultures that see women, children, infidels, laws, crimes/non-crimes, sexuality etc much differently than what we view in the west, and much of that different view is very extremist to our views.

Islam says either they do or they die. Unless they are pretending via taqiyyah to gain the trust of the infidels. Its written quite clearly. And faithful who are seduced by the ways of the west will suffer the most.
