It isn't the gun what the problem is btw.
You have to find the cause but it sure just aint the gun.

It may not be the gun that is the problem.

But it is too often a gun that turns the problem into a murder.

And some guns are very efficiently designed to turn a murder,

Into a massacre.

I got plenty of hate(mrore like rage) for all the parties involved ranging from the shooter to the inept FBI. The resource officer should never be allowed to work in any security related job again.

The cause is he wasn't qualified for the job in the first place. At least that guy was armed because i wasn't when i had to face my enemies. Granted i did something so insane that they panicked and left me alone. Once a coward always a coward.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought heard on the news tonight he was a 20+ year veteran cop?
The OP story from Fox doesn’t mention anything about it.

Something wrong with the recruitment if people like this get in.

Remember those nuts with machetes and things in London? UNARMED cops were running like hell towards them, not away.

Damn sure there are plenty of Yanks who are the same, so why are people like this getting such a job?

You're very right there are. There were two of them inside the school - one was the football coach. He used his body as a shield in an attempt to protect his students. One other teacher/staff member did the same. Both paid the ultimate price. There were also ROTC students where were busy trying to escort their classmates out; at least one of them also paid the ultimate price for that bravery.

Don't you think any one of those people might have been better served to have been trained and armed than the guard who did nothing?

Because something like this was never expected to happen...It's a cush job for some old timer waiting on his retirement...

It is my understanding that police make the claim that it is not their job to protect anyone...We saw that play out inSandy Hook and Columbine where the entire police dept. waited outside til ling after the shooting stopped...They were all called cowards but none were charged with a crime...

The fault lies with the Sheriff who was called to the Cruz home 40 times in the last eight years...He had ample justification over the years to get this kid off the streets...

I fear we'll go through this again before the school year is out.

This I agree with.

While we're all talking about what to do, some other messed up person is going to shoot and kill a bunch of other people.

And it's someone who's watching all the news coverage thinking how cool it would be to get all that attention. Let's hope the signs are seen before the next nut case goes postal. Whenever that happens, the media should spend countless hours reporting how the plan failed.

Fight, Flight or Freeze..

cant fight human instinct

Oh bullsnip. Sure you can.

I know cops and firefighters that do it every single day.

Ever thought about a trooper doing a traffic stop on a tricked out Escalade with blacked out windows in the middle of the night? Hmm? What do you think "instinct" is telling them to do?

What about a firefighter that runs into a burning building to save some kids? What do you think instinct is telling him?

I think what can't be overcome is the fact that the world is filling up with multitudes of Limp-noodled, Candy-assed idiots who couldn't actually THINK their way out of a frakking paper bag.

It's nothing short of disgusting.

In two or three generations we've gone from the generation of 16-25 year-old kids who fought in WWII and basically saved the whole damn world, to dipwads that wouldn't know how to put AIR in their tires if they couldn't find a YOUTUBE video telling them all the complicated steps involved.

Like I said. Disgusting.

Well? You seem very above me, in your own mind. I can't help you there.

I'm definitely at a disadvantage. You have an "avatar". I don't!
I'll probably work on that someday, .. when I have nothing better to do.

Yeah here it is.

Peterson has been a school resource officer at Stoneman Douglas since 2009. He began working for the sheriff’s office in 1985 and his annual salary in 2016 was $75,673.72, according to sheriff’s office records.

Point being, what professional knowledge do you have outside of reading text someone else wrote. I can tell you never read any litarature about this topic so I conclude, you have no clue what you are talking about.

Got that impression pretty fast by the way. And yes, in this special topic, I am 100% confident and would also bet a three digit amount of money that I am above you, in this topic.
