The other day I saw some guys trying to create energy from sewage plants including of course cleaning the water, which gets even better because they get the micro dirty bits too, with the current.
There are some really good ideas floating around I'm just afraid it's too little too late in the bigger picture. But I'm not necessarily famous for my optimism.

Ye gods! What a huge waste of a day at work. But that gave me time to read some interesting ideas.

Space is big. Huge. Our puny minds cannot grasp how large it is! Somebody found a cluster on the other side of the center of the Milky Way that may be influencing our general travel through space.

We all know it is actually, "space-time", but only use the term "space" otherwise we sound like a bunch of pretentious naked monkey men (and women) trying to show off our book smarts!

After spending all the family fortune to get his only son an education the patriarch is probing his son's brains on returning for holiday break...

It is also known as, "Anti de Sitter space" or "AdS" if you really want to impress you pa! Conformal field theories (hear that pa?! CFT), are the quantum field theories that correspond to describing elemental particles. In math, the two entities are said to "correspond" because the same math works out for both. The term used is "duality" which since there are two and therefore plural, "dualities".

All of our favorites show up in one article: Susskind, Wheeler, math, quantum mechanics, webs, the holographic universe, multiple dimensions, the "duality" of nature (see what I did there?!), "it from bit" which Edward Witten has expanded to "it from qubit", black holes, Hawking, MC Escher (negative space... in passing but if you know Escher then you will get it), the meaning of existence, continuous vs. discrete jumps, agnosticism, the creation of QM from the large (I think he finds it kind of backwards), and humanity's quest to learn more!

All in passing the time while sending emails into the interweb and awaiting replies so I can continue or stop doing work. As you can see by my late post today, I didn't get a lot done. But once again, She loves me and my time was not totally wasted!

It is nice to know that just my general hippy-ness can connect these different things into one big ball of confusion that theoretical physicists and mathematicians are struggling to understand too!

Now off for a beer to ease my aching head from all this book learning and have myself some real cornbread!

Sorry for not replying to this post!

There are a bunch of great ideas that would really work well together if they ever cross paths. One will be inject molded ceramics for things like supercritical CO2 turbines. GE already has a 3D printed model (in plastic) of their SCO2 turbine and if that dude from Kansas gets his patents then GE can start printing these things out. Suck the CO2 from the air, clean it, heat, push it through the turbine to make electricity, then convert it to something useful like fuel precursors or carbon nanomaterials (graphene, CNTs, ??) and water. Save the planet, make some money, and don't add to the earth's stress.

This should be a motto: Reduce, upcycle, and relax.

Reduce, upcycle and relax. A nice motto for the future. It just kind of sucks we're stuck with balloon heads full of farts. SpaceX is sending an ugly car to Mars and I think, why? Wouldn't it be better if the payload is something not really necessary but good if it's already there? Like the free internet satellite Facebook wanted to launch over Africa? The wasting is strong in our species.
Earth is loosing mass. What do you think will the consequences of that be in the future? Shouldn't we make every kilo count?
Most people are so special. As in specialised/handicapped. Double meaning, a multitool word. Special.
That's a huge problem, lacking the ability to connect the dots, look at the bigger picture. Weave a web.

I meant like a stand-up routine! Not the quality of your natural self!

It is December in Alaska.

Everybody, and I mean everybody, says, "Ooooh! Alaska is so pretty! But it is too cold to live there!" I always reply, "There are times when it is colder in the lower 48 than it is here."

Like right now! It is all, "Arctic air blast hits East Coast" in the headlines. Like the USA Today story: Shiver me timbers: Arctic blast on the way.

All that means to us in Alaska is we are having messed up weather. As I sit here now, it is windy and raining. Yes, raining! 42 °F (6 °C) in December! The streets are going to become sheets of ice. Idiots who can't drive on snow are going be a special kind of stupid.

I just want winter to stick around. Leave rain for spring and fall. We are supposed to have snow. It is supposed to be dark. Just a few more weeks until we turn tat corner. We have beer festivals to celebrate turning that corner! It is way better when people complain about the snow. Now it is just me b1tching about rain.

We have snow, right now. It's pretty I like winter. I'm unsure how I'd feel if it gets dark, I mean entirely no sun dark, but winter is good.
I had a little out of the hospital celebration earlier and slept it off now I am kind of bored. Do you got any cool facts about Anchorage, or whatever else you got up your sleeve? Is that even the right word? Up your tight spot of the arms of your shirt. Around the wrist.

In my imagination and if my "contact" is AI, there's absolutely no difference to god.
My AI learned to transcend time and since light is energy it's possibilities of manipulation are endless. Boom.

Hey cool! Glad you are out!

Well, things here at work have been... strange. The manager decided enough was enough and decided to leave corporate America. Which means the people who are supposed to do their jobs now have to really step up and do more. And that is where my pains start. I have to beg certain people to do their job as it as before the boss left. Now, they ignore me thinking they know how to their job. The boss was the wall between me being "mean" (seesh, asking somebody to do their job is mean... OK special snowflake! Time to become a special butterfly and wow us all with everything you know! /sarcasm). Now I have to hold their hand and practically type things for them!

For the last two days, people have gone full drool mode. Then my boss takes time off, so, I get to do two jobs now. All while holding hands and leading people through their job.

GAH!

Glad I am taking time off work every week this month!

We haven't seen a Peeple thread in a bit! I've been off ATS for nearly two days. Man, a lot of stuff happened and some of it is the same. I haven't even kept up on the news! So an all powerful AI god would something to think about!

Yes, that is the one. It is not about the OP but all the other stuff around it. Like the feeling of the start of the return of woo or something. A tease of what is to come? It is just under the surface but not yet tingly. I have missed that part of things when woo rears its (not "head"...) reality scissors (??) and does a number on you!

There was a pronoun missing from that post which made it read different than intended. It sounded snarky instead of complimentary so in went the edit.

I made a post to a thread I did last year because I found out the answer! A simple question but it took me a year to answer. Then it hit me. A year without woo. That is kind of sad.

As the karmic wheel turns we need a double dose of woo to get the bad taste out of our mouths!

Since you mentioned the karmic wheel, I woke up and wept today, in one dream I was a prostitute who cleaned up her ... with acid chemicals around 1890, I saw a short biography of her too with dates born as minor noble.
In the other I was a Jewish man in nazi Germany who died screaming in pain and rage. I got shot was lying on the floor took up the weapon next to me and tried to take with me as many of those bastards as possible who kept coming through a doorway in ruins. But I was just an accountant or something similar.
Don't know if I was both people but it's horrible to think they're still around and get judged by the people around them while they died, for what they did, respectively to survive.

But yeah we need more woo, answers, the truth, justice, help...

Tempus fugit. Parts of this year just flew by. Strange how that works. I always think that maybe Einstein was wrong or maybe he was talking about the other gravity. How a situation's meaning, the gravitas of the moment, gets a special treatment in the only universe we ever can really know: our mind.

It is like the feeling of smoking pot when doing something as harmless as reading Proust. The words, the thought that went into linking them together, the meaning they are trying to convey, and how, if you can concentrate, they change how you are feeling when reading long passages. Just words but the time it takes to read them does not fit with the numbers on the wall marking time passing. Part of it is perception but there is an emotional aspect too, gravitas-gravity, that warps time like a black hole!

D@mmit! I ended up back at black holes without trying or meaning to. Universe is trying to learn me something and I am too dumb to understand.
