I had heard that they bombed his hotel RIGHT after he left.

Sounds like they tried to take him out early, but failed due to timing.

Unless ISIS was participating the the coup.

From the footage I saw only males of military age were 'participating'.

And cover given under E telling the 'people' to protest.

Anyone see any footage where women were present?

Reports of military jets bombing the Presidential compound in Ankara.

I wonder how much the rebuilding of over 1000 rooms will cost.

Erdogan is out in public right now (it's early morning there now).
Must be Turkish ground-hogs-day.
Showing him live on MSNBC and probably other networks right now.

PS: This is in Istanbul (where sometime back apparently he was the Mayor, so has significant support in various parts of that city).

I just saw a live feed of the area and there was a massive smoke plume in the distance.
the feed is gone now though.

I've been going back and forth between Istanbul and Ankara on the FB Live map

It doesn't appear so.

Still massive confusion and gunfire. Reports of airstrikes still too

Pretty close to over methinks.

There are Counter-Strike and/or Team Fortress 2 players who could put-together and execute a better coup than this.

The coup is most likely over.

Mop up operations will continue. The attack on the palace might be a last minute F**k you by those involved in the coup.

Erdogan is on live giving a update... He sounds complicit in the coup to be honest. I find it difficult to believe the military would not know where the President is when the initiate a coup and I find it odd they would not send forces to secure the government, including the President. An explosion occurs where the President was at and occurs after he leaves the area.

He is hell bent on blaming the guy in exile in PA.

Erdogan announced the Turkish Airlines resumed their operation. Seems like condition is stabilizing there.

OMG, that's a plot-line right out of "The Brink"!

Nah, no way things just stabilize and are back to normal that fast.

Well it could be possible if this whole thing is a made for tv operation. Erdogan is already making himself out to be the hero.

Images of lots of military soldiers coming out with hands up being shown.

Yeah, he really wants to make everything seem like it's call back to "normal" as quickly as possible - just like after the attacks on the airport recently. It's less about being actually safe & stable, and about creating that illusion. But, I guess that's always the case (illusion creates reality).

On live MSNBC right now, they are showing military on that bridge in Istanbul surrendering with their hand's-up. So, pretty much it's "over" - at least there anyway.

If everything was stabilizing, he would be back in the capital and there damn sure wouldn't still be a no-fly order above Ankara.

Even if the initial op is over, I promise that this was only a catalyst.
