Not if PC has deemed your thought or opinion to be racist, bigoted or homophobic.

Then all you're doing is defining your own version of PC.

As is quoted in Bambi by Mrs.Thumper

"If you can'y say anything nice, don't say anything at all"

Yep, that's how PC works all right. And when you can't talk because "nice" had been defined by one side as "only things I agree with" then that means there will soon be no debate no discussion and everyone who talks will think 100% alike.

Can you give examples of individuals being jailed, punished, executed by US government at any level for the crime of "PC"?

Thank you kindly for any response.

People just ain't as slow to label a bigot for bigotry.

There is the odd ridiculous case like "Star Wars is racist" but that's not even close to what "PC" is supposed to be about.

It's like bigoted women being labelled feminists, or WBC being labeled Christian.

It may sound like a No True Scotsman fallacy, but sometimes calling things a fallacy is specious.

This is one of those times.

It's like when the PC police, themselves, call Asian people 'Orientals' and then try to argue that it's a legitimate term for Asian people.

Calling out the PC police is the best medicine for what's ailing us. They will eventually eat their own.

(ETA: ^True story, BTW.)

Because they aren't thinking about it first.

When I grew up my parents taught me to have good manners and to "think before you speak"...

Shame, the bigots were just taught bigotry.

Would it make any difference to note that "PC" and "PC Police" are meaningless straw-man terms unless they refer to specific cases?

Politically-correct speech is part of politics. Always has been.

If posts like your last 2 are the manners your parents taught you, may not want to brag about them.

Please quote the bad manners I exhibited instead of being vaguely specious.

The answer is: PC is merely a vapid generalist term used to refer to anything that a given speaker (often conservative) doesn't approve of ... i.e. referring to "PC" is actually very PC (Conservative version.)

No one has been punished by government for being "PC."

What other people do, how they react, is as much an expression of the general "freedom of speech" (not Constitutional) as when so many whine about PC-ness.

It's The Same Thing.

Actually, If we remember factually, you tried to correct my speech from Oriental.

I wasn't being PC you were.

Secondly, a link was shared after, before the thread was shut down proving me right.

Thirdly, you said Asians were a race, but failed to mention whether you were discussing Indian Asians or Oriental Asians.

Such is life.

True story by the way.

LOL. The term has become so offensive, it's been banned by many state governments. And, by the way, you were the one telling people to "check their privilege."

Also, you may not find it offensive and may think it's totes ok, but many Asian people disagree:

Oriental: Rugs, not People

You were looking for a broad term, I gave you one that applies to people, not rugs and vases: Asian.

So you readily admit it was you playing PC police and not me?

Thanks for clearing that up.

Because prior to that post it was merely slander.

And by the way...

Oriental is defined as "of, from, or characteristic of Asia, especially East Asia", there is nothing derogatory about it.

And again, Oriental was correct, Asia encompasses India too, and I wasn't highlighting Indians (brown skinned) when I said Oriental...
Asian was not a helpful answer as it's an umbrella term for the whole of Asia, not the East of Asia.
