Nice try but that's a completely different scenario. Some idiot shot a girl banging on his own door because he thought she was trying to break in.

I specifically asked you to provide examples of innocent people being shot by someone trying to come to the rescue of someone being attacked. It's okay to admit that you can't find any examples to support your nonsensical statement.

This is my last gun-related post in this thread and I apologize for participating in a massive derailment.

I love how easily divided everyone gets over an issue thats irrelevant to the story.

The gun was just a tool. Just as the boxcutter that was initially used.

Bad things happen everyday regardless of what tool was chosen.

The REAL issue isnt the tool, rather the person wielding it as a weapon towards his own mother. Thats what we should be discussing!

I see people brushing him off as a pyscho and what not. That may be true. I also read in the article that he had an addiction problem.

Why are we not discussing THOSE issues????

I agree 100% that the policy of putting people in prison for drugs instead of treating whatever pushed them to drugs in the first place is primarily responsible for many of the problems we're having with our society.

It was known very early on by the US government that mental health problems where the driving force behind illicit drug use but they decided that declaring "war on drugs" and imprisoning users was a more profitable solution.

Sometimes you have no choice though. its not hollywood where you can disable a attacker with perfect aim or a video game with a aim bot or VATS where you can shoot the wings off a fly. Real life is cruel and harsh. the kid learned it the hard way.

In a serious note, while the son did try to harm the woman, she shouldn't be happy that a life especially her own son was taken away.
