Then with that attitude I suggest moving to Muslim run ME country. The emirates or Qatar are nice.

Freedom of speech and satire are a fundamental pillar of western society.

Christians get picked on, Buddhists get picked on, Hindus get picked on and so will Muslims.

Dont like our culture? well immigrate to a country with one more suited to yours.

The KKK are free to say whatever they want...
So are the NOI...

And if someone goes on a gun rampage and kills them that would be wrong.

Freedom of speech means getting offended sometimes.

Guess what? You have the freedom of speech to speak out against it and counter it.

what freedom of speech doesn't give you is the right to go commit mass murder!

Maybe you could point me to where I said this was a "fine" thing to do.....

What I did say is if you intentionally go out of your way to offend someone you're likely gonna deal with the consequence of that.

It's quite simple really.

That doesn't change the fact that at any moment someone may use that freedom against them to enact revenge.

Really? I don't see fanatical gays or military personnel shooting up the Westboro Baptist's church and I can think of no one more offensive. Your logic fails.

You say culture as if offensive humour is something everyone in the West adheres to...

While you may be correct in a sense...

Some will find this humerous...
But let's take the ones that do into sub groups...

People affected by rape...
People affected by cancer...
Now how funny would they feel jokes about what affects them are?

It's not a culture, it's selective humour at its finest.

The attacks were NOT caused by anything the newspaper printed.

The attacks were caused by the thoughts and beliefs the killers chose to have about what was written.

Nobody is responsible for the beliefs grown men choose to have so they can feel important.

Wasn't this attack delayed by about 3 years?

Give the gay militia time & who's to say they won't?

Yeah and there are many comedians that do make such jokes.
I have heard Frankie Boyle and Jimmy carr crack a few jokes on Rape and cancer

But rape victims and cancer victims don't go on comedian murder sprees.

If you dont like such humor you dont buy there DVD's or see there shows.

Or if it really pisses you off write in a complaint. Thats how civilized people deal with it.

The meaning you give what other people say is a choice. It's not required to be offended or angry.

Offended: When you expect somebody else to control your emotions because you can't.

Here's a whacky idea...

Don't go out of your way to intentionally offend a specific group of people, & you won't pay the consequences.

Morons.

Your prophet looks like the bottom of my feet.

I can't believe you. smh.

I agree with this to a point - but I believe fire should be fought with fire. If they didn't like what the French did with satiric cartoons, then counter with their own satiric cartoons making fun of French people. That's a fair consequence. Taking someone's life because of a cartoon is not a fair consequence.

No doubt...

I'm sure writing to Points of View will set the ball rolling.

Face it extremism is the only thing nowadays that changes anything...

9/11 = Patriot Act & TSA groping.

Like I said, I never agreed with this or said it was fine, I merely pointed out cause & effect of intentionally offending people.

If you have no imagination with which to entertain people without offending, you're probably not very good at what you do anyways.

Your definition is made up...

Offensive: causing someone to feel resentful, upset, or annoyed.

I thought you preferred facts to made up bull#.

And in what sane world does that justify mass murder?

Exactly!

You counter with your own words or written text not kill people

And come on it freaking France the material write itself, even the most sheltered ill educated cave dwelling jihad joe must be able to come up with some sort of french joke

Much easier and civilized than just killing people.

That was just sick Charlie. Absolutely sick.

Someone deserves to DIE because they "offended" someone? So ... I deserve to die in your opinion then, because my conversion to Christianity DEFINITELY offends the extremists?

the key here is "offend" one man made a choice to make parody of a religion that teaches killing people based on personal choice... that offended them, so they killed him too.

HE made those cartoons for all those like ME, who risk their lives if they speak of a PERSONAL choice - like what religion to follow - like what to eat or drink.. like whether or not they will smoke a cigarette!

I, an apostate to Islam, offend them Charlie... to them, I should die for that choice, to you.. I shouldn't have that choice because it offends them?

SERIOUSLY??????
