I was disappointed to see the UK's new aircraft carrier was pulled back from nuclear to conventional and from catapult to sloped deck.

Still a formidable platform though.

Any Russian aircraft in the Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean sea will probably be Tu-95 Bears flown out of Russia with inflight refuelling. Fairly pointless just a stunt from cold war dinosaur Putin.

Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, declined to call this a Russian provocation. He said the Russians have a right, like any other nation, to operate in international airspace and in international waters. The important thing, Warren said, is for such exercises to be carried out safely and in accordance with international standards.

Yeah it does seem pointless to me as well. Other than an obvious pr move of course. I just don't see bombers getting that far in a live run if our eyes are still up

Let me guess, even though they're in international airspace, they should be shot down for intruding on our airspace, right?

And then our aircraft anywhere near there airspace are targets again, and we go back to the early Cold War days, when crews didn't come home from routine missions, and we start losing crews of 15-20 crew at a time.

Flights in the Gulf, realize, leave CENTCOM/USSOCOM a hop and a skip away. If I was going to cripple a nation, I would take out their special forces command/ME command in one fail swoop. 3 fly bys tells me response time and shows tactic.

That's why we're starting to see Il-38s flying around more, instead of just Bears and Backfires like we saw for years.

You mean like every President since Reagan has sat there and said nothing? What exactly are they supposed to say? They're flying in international airspace, where they have every right to be, whenever they want to be there. "How dare you fly in international airspace near our territory. This is an outrage!" Something along those lines?

This is being so blown out of proportion that it's pathetic.

I would guess they will use bases in Cuba and or Venezeuela. Putins been in discussions with those 2 countries for some time about placing Russian assets there.

being we can track their turboprop bombers with our SOSUS nets I don't see the big deal. If Putin thinks there is some advantage to touring the US from 50 miles out then so be it.

We can still destroy each other 20 times over and no one wins.


I think these moves are more directed at the Russian audience than American. All one has to do is look at Pravda.ru and see the types of articles they are running.

There actually is, long term, which is why everyone still flies around other ADIZ with ELINT/SIGINT aircraft. Using Bears just makes it a little easier.

Again, what is he SUPPOSED to say? For the third or fourth time, they're in INTERNATIONAL AIRSPACE where they have EVERY RIGHT TO BE, whenever they want to be there. As long as they don't enter US Airspace, they can do whatever they want.

They could possibly be used for refuelling but I don't think any Russian aircraft are based there permanently.

Earlier this year, Gen. Shoigu said Russia was negotiating to get access to military bases far from its shores, including in Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and the Seychelles.

You could if European Union had any testicles to take on Russia from the West.

The US could send its "dirty mercanary ISIS tools" to attack Russia from the south.

China would not be able to project their forces upto the US West Coast, or even Australia. They might be able to send a couple subs but theres not chance of actual troops landing on US soil without a concerted massive attack on major cities with nukes first.

Thats assuming they survive the counter strike.

This is a distraction to something else going on, or something else about to happen.

Any war between Russia, China, and the US would end up with all three nations bankrupt and riots overthrowing the governments within 24 hours and not a shot would need to be fired. All utilities and infrastructure would be shut down due to cyber weapons and no side could put boots on the ground due to nuclear weapons. With war declared the nations debts with each other would be wiped out, and the canceling of debt which is used as an asset to back each nations currency would make the currency of all three nations instantly worthless.

It will not come to war.

No bases in Cuba no bases in Venezuela, they are located in Mexico. Mexican ports were bought out by China and have been importing military goods to help the cartel there. Its more on the line of Russia helping Mexico "Get it's land back" the Cartel will then move its war closer and closer to the heart of Murica. Obama Doesn't do anything which causes the people to start the American Civil War 2 (in 3D ). The people of the US vs The Fed Gov. but the people vs the fed is split up between I will help the people and I will help the fed (bankers corporations) the people get scared from drone strikes, tanks, the fed army. China, Russia, Mexico offer to help out the people at a cost of them rebuilding our way of life. Canada Backs up and says don't even try it.

I say just watch them. If they did fly into the air space warn them. There is no need to start pounding the chest just yet.

Aren't double standards fun? We should patrol international airspace near Russia and send a message to Putin. They should be shot down and we should risk war over them doing the same to us.

I'm really not seeing the big deal here. Russia is saying they're militarily capable and everything they've done hasn't infringed on any other nation. What is the problem?
