Nothing they haven't got the tech or any real strength beyond their region.
Not to mention we are still the top predator.

If we destroy their economy they'll take ours with it. They do have cyber weapons. They do have financial weapons. MAD applies to more than just nukes.

Which is what I was saying, even though the US has greater force projection capabilities Russia has enough power of their own that they can stand as a nation on equal footing with us. Nations are posturing and possibly battling in proxy wars but at the end of the day the major nations out there will not strike at each other.

Anyways this all goes back to the fact that so far Russia has not done anything wrong as far as the US is concerned. Sovereignty is an interesting concept, as is international waters.
