Tell that to the 100,000 people that are standing up.

What about the millions more that are NOT union and are sick and tired of hearing the cry-baby unions who want everything handed to them on a silver platter or else they will hold you hostage?

They should do what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers and fire them all, and hire people who actually want to work for a living.

For the record, this isn't being covered in any news source I've seen. This is the first I've even heard of it, other than vague references to a WI protest. I'm in Ontario, Canada btw. Seems odd this wouldn't be in the news.

Man, I'm in Mississauga... and I'm quite surprised in regards to how much of recent happenings are "NOT" being reported on. I suspect there are alot of people #ting their pants right now (the ones we want to).

Ok, let me get this straight. It is a great thing if workers don't want to be held hostage by the company they work for by being forced to help pay for their benefits (like everyone else has to), but it is fascism if companies don't want to be raked over the coals?

OK, let's play that game. It's called "free market practices" when corps. want to cut benefits, retirement, and healthcare so the stockholders can get a bump, but it's socialism and union thuggery, when the workers that actually do the work [taxpayers] complain and want a say in their livelihood.

When it happens to you; you will wish there was a union to represent you.

I'm a proud member of AFTRA/SAG and would have no retirement, healthcare or recourse if hurt on the job, if it weren't for my union. The productions companies refuse to pay anything for the people that are actually the productive ones.

You have recourse ....... quit. Get another job that has everything you want. If the conditions are really THAT bad at the job no one will want to work there and they will be forced to change to stay in business.

That is wonderful news if it is true. I was just speaking to a family member how ironic it was to maintain the union rights of police and fire department... Those services that both maintain public order but can also oppress in these sort of times. Obviously you want to keep your enforcers happy and well cared for.

My only concern is, when I hear plain clothed police officers participating in protest... It is usually for surveillance reasons and riot control. Keep things in check or smash and crab the serious trouble makers.

Average salary of a WI teacher is $ 49,000.00 per year with 15 weeks vacation. Give me a break! See: certificationmap.com...
And they are bitchin? I find it difficult to be for teachers who can't train a chld to read beyond a forth grade level or identify their own state on an unlabled map after twelve years of schooling. In my opinion we would be way ahead firing them all.

New York City fire fighters, after 20 years, get to retire with a pension and full health benefits package worth over $95,000 a year, tax free. They can then go on and get some other job if they want to and still receive that package.

I was a very active volunteer fire-fighter for over 8 years.

No pay. No health benefits. No pension.

Guess what, the fires I fought didn't take it easy on me because I was not financially compensated.

These people are not "public servants". They have jobs, just like anybody else lucky enough to have a job these days.

If they are "servants" then we are all servants to someone.

The grass is always greener on the other side?
How about i do not care the direction my kids are going, so i leave the wife and start at square one, that seems to be your idea.
Lemme tell you sometimes it is better to stay , fight and work things out rather than break up.
Besides, chances are the next gal you bump into will be a gold digger anyway, same as any company you may go to.
Greed is the evil side of human nature nd we all have it.
These Unions are just ensuring their people will not get trampled.

This event has morphed into corruption at the highest levels in WI. Gov. Walker has opened a can of worms that will be his undoing and inturn the Unions will just get stronger with more members and even more power. Perhaps the police new of this corruption and wanted to be on the winning side. Who can blame them.

Unions are the definition of greed. We do not ALL suffer from greed.

I have had to help pay towards my health benefits for years. Oh well. Right now I get $130 a week taken out.

As far as pensions go, why should someone in a union get one penny more out of a pension than the money they themselves put in plus the interest earned? Just because? LOL!

I mean really, give me a logical reason why they should get free money handed to them. Just because they want it?

By the way, I don't get your analogy about leaving the wife or the grass being greener at all.

If you are talking about leaving one job for another because of not being happy, lots of people do that all the time. May not have anything to do with money. It may be for a better opportunity. May be for a more convenient location.

Believe it or not there ARE people out there who do not let money rule their lives.

The Unions were formed to combat large corporations and protect the common man, we all learned this in the 7th grade, so you know this right?
People in the Unions deserve more yes!!
Why? because they took the initiative to secure their worth and future.
How much are you worth?
What is your sweat worth?
With the way you speak, you cannot afford mine, as i have a high self worth, i guess the unions agree with me too.
You are worth much more than you know, don't discount yourself.
And don't let them beat you into submission either.

But yet that is the prime motivator of corporations.

And you defend the greedy corporations that profit on the backs American working men and women.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

What hypocrisy!

imo....a clear case of letting your ideology get in the way of your common sense.

That's awesome that the police meant to disperse them joined in instead. I wonder how far all this protesting is going to go. Let's just hope for the best.

Yes, the unions are there for themselves and have no mandate at all to keel haul for the employers. That is precisely what the unions are doing. They do not represent the workers. The workers must reject the unions completely. The workers need to elect their own leaders and stand together.

Reject the union control of dissent.

Huh??
It seems the Unions are looking out for the little guy here.
United we stand divided we fall, sounds familar?
The problem here is not the teachers it is the administration, whether school or gubbment.
No sense making the little guy pay.

Ok i can see your angle, but, you'd be a fool not to see mine.
Students simply do not want to learn, and that makes the teachers job difficult.
Teachers cannot defend against that, that is a parenting issue.
The big bread winners here are the administration not teachers, maybe we should look there first.
Admins get a raise and some school program gets cut.
Teachers are not the problem, nor the Union.

If these people really need a union so desperately how about they all establish a non-paid union and divvy up the work equally among themselves? That way their rights are defended and there is no money pit to complain about. Why is that not an option? With 15 weeks paid vacation a year I am guessing they just might have the time?

These Union people employ individuals who are saavy to the company tricks rather than having to figure it out for themselves.
I would much rather use a boxer in a fight rather than an accountant, kind of llike using the right tool for the job.
Companies do the same thing, they hire people who know the work.
So Unions do the same, hire someone who knows and can do the work.
