My subconscious (or what I think of as the unsleeping gardener) whipped up some proper oddball images in dreams last night, and I wish it would just come out and propose a story strategy instead of trying to freak me the # out all the time.

How delightful, although in South Africa (and the rest of the southern hemisphere) we just had the spring equinox yesterday.

I'm going to have to think a bit topsy-turvy on this one, which shouldn't be an entirely new experience.


I guess "autumn" could also be metaphorical, like one of my favorite old Westerns titled Cheyenne Autumn (1964), a fictionalized account of a group of 300 Cheyennes who fled back all the way from Oklahoma to their homeland in Wyoming in the 1870's.

Still waiting for the muse.

The idea hit fairly quickly as to turn an urban legend into a local legend. It was how to frame that transition that took some thinking.

Legends of the Fall... what images does this conjure up for you. "Fall" can be interpreted in the way of the season or of say, the fall of an empire or civilization. It can be nature, history, paranormal, whatever strikes your fancy. HOW you perceive that "FALL" is... of course, entirely up to YOU!

The season of "FALL" causes me to be somewhat out of sorts. It is a beautiful time of year as far as the colors and holidays and events go. It has always left me feeling a little bleh.

I suppose that there are so many senses of the word itself that one could go in so many different directions!

If I can find a little spare time, I may participate (just for the fun of it and to be supportive of the contests). If I don't participate, I will enjoy reading all of the entries : )

I commiserate on the feeling fall brings. I'm a completely solar powered person and the lack of it drains me completely.

Carl is looking out the dark window as his train races through the night towards Washington.
With a deep sigh he writes the first line of his op-ed.
